Chapter 282 - Chapter 162: Contest with the Immortals

"I see, as expected of Teacher Jiraiya." The two felt that what Jiraiya said made a lot of sense.

"Uncle Toad, you've got quite an eye for this. Teacher Mokgetsu's cooking level is at the level of a culinary sage." Seeing Jiraiya praise Mokgetsu, Obito found Jiraiya much more agreeable.

Jiraiya was too lazy to correct Obito's address. Kids can call him whatever they like; Mokgetsu's cooking level was indeed indisputable.

An hour later, several people sat inside a tent with a long table, and Jiraiya used the Summoning Technique to summon two immortals again.

"You're in for a treat. I usually only cook for my hubby."

Shima Sage proudly wanted to show off the bug feast she had prepared and brought it to the table.

Dekai looked over. There were dishes and soup, but the soup's color was a bit strange — it was purple, with grayish-green bugs as thick as arms floating inside, and the dish was finger-thick pink bugs drizzled with an unknown brown sauce.

"Ugh." Obito's throat stirred, he couldn't help but want to vomit, so he quickly glanced a few times at Mokgetsu's cooking to steady his nerves.

Dekai and Kamiyama Sohei both looked at Jiraiya, even Minato couldn't help but glance at Jiraiya in confusion.

Jiraiya's gaze drifted upward; as long as he didn't see it, it was as if nothing had happened.

"Teacher Jiraiya, I suddenly feel very full from dinner and can't eat anything more." Dekai, looking at the purple soup and grayish-green bugs, broke out in a cold sweat and wanted to back out.

"If you're full, just eat a little less. Opportunities to taste Shima Sage's food are rare." Jiraiya indicated that running away was impossible.

"Seriously, would drinking this soup really not kill you?" Obito couldn't help but ask.

He even felt there might be poison in the soup; otherwise, how could it be this color?

"It might not be poisoned; perhaps the bugs themselves are poisonous." Staring at Shima's bug feast, even the usually not picky eater Might Guy couldn't help but shiver.

He believed that a man shouldn't be picky, but Shima Sage's cooking didn't seem like human food.

"What a disgrace, this is my specially made super nourishing soup, perfect for replenishing energy after cultivation battles." Shima Sage said with an unhappy face.

"That's right, Shima Sage's cooking is very beneficial for cultivation. You all should eat more." Jiraiya nodded in agreement, then reached his chopsticks towards Mokgetsu's cooking.

Mokgetsu made two dishes and a soup; the soup was Jade Tofu Soup, the dishes were fried tempura and freshly foraged wild vegetable stir-fry.

"I ate a lot during my past cultivation, so I'll take a hit and eat more of Mokgetsu's cooking, leaving Shima Sage's cooking for you." Jiraiya tasted a piece of tempura and immediately had a vision.

Kakashi: ...

In his mind, Jiraiya's image continued to crumble, and he couldn't imagine what Orochimaru and Tsunade's private behaviors were like.

"Teacher Jiraiya, please don't say that, you are one of the Sannin of Konoha, possibly a future Hokage. Your strength is greatly important to Konoha, so let us take this hit." Kamiyama Sohei said with a smile after hearing Jiraiya's words, and he picked up a piece of wild vegetable and put it in his mouth.

Kamiyama Sohei immediately felt as though he transformed into a blade of green grass and merged with nature, everything feeling so pleasant and harmonious.

"Hokage? I could never become Hokage." Jiraiya laughed and continued to pick up food, saying that if Sarutobi Hiruzen really wanted him as Hokage, he would directly refuse.

Jiraiya had not a trace of wanting to become Hokage in his heart, not just because he thought the work was burdensome and interfered with his research, but because he believed he had the more important mission of finding the Child of Prophecy.

"Uncle Toad, why are you so unambitious? I think I can become Hokage." Obito said proudly.

"Then you better cultivate well if you want to become Hokage." Jiraiya didn't take Obito's words seriously and encouraged him with a chuckle.

Even though he himself didn't want to become Hokage, he didn't think dreaming of becoming Hokage was bad.

"Of course, with Teacher Mokgetsu teaching me, I will definitely be stronger than your disciple in the future, and stronger than you too." Obito chuckled and said.

"Youth does not switch meals, and a man should bravely challenge!" Might Guy chanted to himself, finally mustering the courage to pick up a red bug and put it in his mouth.

Even though he also wanted to eat Mokgetsu's cooking, Might Guy felt that Shima Sage's hard work for an hour shouldn't be wasted.

A bitter, sour, and peculiar but terrible taste exploded in Might Guy's mouth. He clenched his teeth with all his might not to spit it out.

Then Might Guy took a sip of the purple soup, originally prepared to faint after drinking, but he found the soup tasted slightly better than the pink bug, though still bad, it was better than the bug just now.

If Might Guy had to describe it, the bug's taste was like making unwashed smelly socks into sauce and pouring it over mud to eat directly, that was about it.

"Thanks for the treat!" Might Guy smiled and gave a thumbs up to Shima Sage.

"Not bad taste after all." Shima Sage, who was a bit dissatisfied initially, felt better seeing Might Guy giving a thumbs up.

Jiraiya was not really only eating Mokgetsu's cooking. He was joking with his disciples. How could he not eat anything with his relationship with the toads? After eating some of Mokgetsu's cooking, he also drank a sip of bug soup, then quickly added a tempura from Mokgetsu to his mouth.
