Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Training Together

Among the initial stage Pokémon, Weedle's Species Value is considered quite low.

However, even if it's low, you can pick the taller one among the short ones, and speed is its strong suit.

Moreover, if you want to battle, the speed of a Pokémon is a point that can never be ignored.

At the same time, running can enhance overall physical fitness.

Twenty laps, the distance between the starting point and the target location is about fifty meters, a total of one thousand meters of training.

Upon hearing Natsuhiko's command "Run," he and Weedle dashed out together.

Weedle, initially full of confidence, started regretting after running five laps.

After ten laps, its speed noticeably slowed down.

But it wasn't only Weedle; Natsuhiko's speed also slowed down, his face was flushed, and sweat was dripping from his forehead and nose.

Natsuhiko's body was already weak and frail, and before coming to this world, the previous owner was even on the verge of death. Just having half a piece of bread yesterday, being able to run was already quite impressive.

However, it must be admitted that humans in this world seem affected by the energy pervasive in the Pokemon Realm, and their bodies are stronger than Natsuhiko expected.

After all, some people undergo professional long-term training and can become ninjas, even physically confronting powerful Pokémon.

Seeing Natsuhiko working so hard, Weedle grit its teeth and persisted.

Fifteen laps, both man and Pokémon were nearing their limits.

Don't be fooled by the seemingly short one thousand meters, as one is a newly born Pokémon and the other is so frail that a gust of wind could knock him down; it is definitely a challenge for them.

This is only the beginning of the training; if they can't endure here, the entire session will crumble.

"P...persist, hold on; only then can you embrace new life after breaking the cocoon."

The intense panting made Natsuhiko almost hear his heartbeat.

Even though he was exhausted to the point of suffocation, as a Trainer, he had to set an example for Weedle in their first training.

"Woo!"

Weedle let out a cry, as if cheering for itself or motivating Natsuhiko.

Finally.

Twenty laps completed.

Weedle collapsed on the ground, exhausted, while Natsuhiko's chest heaved like a bellows, sweat pouring down like rain.

Looking at the fallen Weedle, he said intermittently, "Stand... Stand up! After running, walk a bit; otherwise... tomorrow, you won't be able to stand."

Upon hearing this, Weedle showed a pitiful expression.

"Woo woo..."

It was truly exhausted, and if it hadn't seen Natsuhiko persisting, it would have given up long ago.

"Get up! Walk!"

Natsuhiko's voice became very stern, leaving no room for doubt.

Indulging Weedle at this moment would be irresponsible.

"Woo..."

Weedle shivered and, facing Natsuhiko's sternness, reluctantly stood up.

Wobbling, it shakily followed behind him.

Ten minutes later.

Natsuhiko and Weedle's breathing gradually returned to calm; their bodies were warm, as if a fire was burning inside them.

"Next is your Technique training; first is the precision of Spinning Silk. I'll throw stones into the sky, and your task is to spin silk around them."

He already had a pile of stones placed by his feet.

After the basic running training, Weedle understood that this training wasn't a game; it would be tough and tiring, and it already felt that way even before the subsequent training unfolded.

It wanted to try protesting, but each time this thought arose, it quickly extinguished it.

Because Natsuhiko was also training together, as a human with a frail body, clearly more tired than it.

If Natsuhiko persisted, what reason did it have to give up?

After all, the ultimate beneficiary of the training's growth was it.

"Get ready."

Picking up a stone, after confirming Weedle was ready, he tossed the stones.

Initially, the frequency was low, and the speed was slow; Weedle's hit rate was high.

But gradually, as Natsuhiko's speed increased, with stones thrown one after another, Weedle's hit rate decreased.

It became anxious, somewhat frantic.

"Calm down, hold steady, don't panic! Watch the trajectory of the stones before acting, and sometimes you can choose to give up on some."

Natsuhiko's arms tightened, sometimes using his left hand and sometimes his right, continuously throwing stones, which was also demanding on his physical strength and arm strength.

However, his reminder had a significant effect.

Weedle slowly calmed down, its little eyes fixed on the stones, and although the hit rate was still not high, there was considerable improvement.

At least, it wasn't panicking anymore.

"Whether it's Spinning Silk or Poison Needle, hit rate is crucial. If you feel the silk stored in your body is running low, you can use Poison Needle instead."

"Woo!" Weedle nodded emphatically.

Abandoning Spinning Silk, the sharp horn on its head glowed with a purple aura, and Poison Needles flew out.

It gradually entered a true training state.

As a Weedle currently with only two moves, it naturally represented a lower margin for error in battles, and if the moves couldn't hit the enemy, it would undoubtedly make the battle very unfavorable.

After some time, the stones by Natsuhiko's feet were all tossed, and this training phase concluded.

"Very good, remember that feeling just now, I need you to ensure that focus in every future training."

"Woo..."

The exhausted Weedle replied weakly.

"Rest for ten minutes."

Like hearing heavenly music, Weedle instantly collapsed onto the ground.

Natsuhiko hugged his knees against the tree trunk, seizing the moment to train.

Very soon.

Ten minutes passed.

"It's the same twenty laps, don't pursue speed, just aim to complete them."

"Woo!!"

Weedle looked desperate.

But it still gritted its teeth and persevered.

It had no reason or excuse to give up because no matter what it did, Natsuhiko did it together with him, clearly more tired but setting a great example.

After running, they rested for ten minutes as usual.

"Next is the third phase; the task is simple: use your mouth to bite through that tree."

Natsuhiko pointed to a nearby small tree, the trunk about the thickness of two normal human arms.

"Woo?!"

Weedle was utterly shocked, pointing at the small tree, then at its own little mouth.

It was quite exaggerated.

To bite through a tree that thick with its mouth seemed too demanding.

But Natsuhiko was unmoved; once in training, he became a strict Trainer, not indulging Pokémon at all, nor relaxing for himself.

"Having only Spinning Silk and Poison Needle now doesn't mean you can only have these two moves. Insect Bite is a strong and practical move for initial-stage Insect-type Pokémon, and to learn it, you must first have a certain understanding of your biting ability."

After briefly explaining, he continued, "For the first time, I won't set a time limit for you; do it until you completely bite through. But next time, I'll probably set a time, so make sure to find the feeling in this first try!"

Pouting, Weedle reluctantly followed Natsuhiko's instructions.

"While you're training, I won't stop either. When you bite through, I'll stop training."

Looking at the somewhat feeble Weedle, Natsuhiko finished speaking and bent down to start doing push-ups on his own.

"Woo?!"

Weedle glanced back in amazement.

With Natsuhiko's body, continuously training....

Weedle shook its head slightly, immediately dashed to the small tree, and bit fiercely.

Natsuhiko used his actions to compel Weedle to speed up.

The momentum between Trainer and Pokémon kept growing during training.

The sun set, and the full moon hung high.

Those three phases just now formed one round of training.

And today, Natsuhiko and Weedle completed two rounds in total.

This was a huge physical and psychological torment for them.

After finishing, they collapsed on the ground, having no strength left to move.

Gazing at the shining stars in the night sky.

"The moon is still rounder back at home."

"Woo?"

"Are you hungry? Let's go back and eat!"

"Woo!!"

Weedle cheered, its energy instantly rejuvenated.

The recovery ability of Pokémon is indeed much faster than humans, while Natsuhiko couldn't even stand, Weedle was lively as ever.

"It seems you still have a lot of stamina; I underestimated you. Tomorrow, we'll increase the training to four rounds!"

"Woo!!!"

Weedle wailed, looking desperate.

"Let's go, heading back." Natsuhiko wobbled to his feet and carried Weedle towards the small broken house.

As he walked, his fingers gently pressing on its body, relieving its fatigue.

He's not very experienced in Pokémon massage, but he learned by observing Weedle's expression changes and reactions, understanding where to massage to make it more comfortable.

"Woo~~"

Weedle groaned, experiencing what it means to feel pain and joy simultaneously.
