From the start of this Temptation of the Undead activation, Somlier began to feel a chill down his spine.
But he quickly shook his head, dismissing the negative thoughts.
What was he thinking? This wasn't a high-intensity match in the professional circle, the opponent was just a student from Duel Academy, no need to feel uneasy.
"Wine Hero God Bacas, attack the covered monster!" Somlier ordered.
The Greek-style Wine Hero God took a step forward, first grabbed his pure gold wine cup and downed a large gulp, then opened his mouth and sprayed out a thick wine vapor!
The vapor shot towards the covered monster. The cover monster flipped over, revealing a gloomy worm covered in sharp spikes.
"The monster you attacked is 'Needle Worm,'" Yugen said, "Needle Worm's flip effect: send the top five cards of the opponent's card deck to the graveyard."
Somlier's eyelid twitched: "Send five cards to the grave?"
Could that be...
He stared at his card deck in astonishment, only to see the top five cards had already flown out, cascading towards the graveyard.
No, don't...
Stop!
"Temptation of the Undead, since five cards were sent to the grave, dealing 1500 points of damage," Yugen smiled.
"Ugh!"
[Somlier, LP 3100→LP 1600]
"Of course, since 'Needle Worm' was sent to the grave due to battle destruction, I also suffer 300 points of damage from the 'Temptation of the Undead'."
[Yugen, LP 4000→LP 3700]
Somlier was already sweating profusely.
What kind of ridiculous duel is this?
He had barely done anything and his LP had already evaporated by more than half. Needle Worm's flip effect discarded cards from his card deck, combined with that Temptation of the Undead burning LP. This attack was like stepping on a chain mine, unexpectedly blasting him below half LP.
What a joke!
He looked again at the young guy before him, watching the grim reaper standing beside him like a left guardian, cloaked him in dense evil aura, and even that polite smile seemed sinister.
Somlier, ranked eighth in the professional scene, instinctively gulped.
He began to feel like today's opponent might be something of an anomaly.
"But now, your field is empty," Somlier played another card from his hand, "Speed Attack Magic 'Cup of the Gods.'
It can be activated when a Water Attribute Monster exists on your field, Special Summoning a 'Red Wine Derivative.'" (Original Card)
[Red Wine Derivative, Attack Power 1000]
"Then 'Temptation of the Undead,'" Yugen said, "Speed Attack Magic sent to the grave also deals 300 points of damage."
[Somlier, LP 1600→LP 1300]
"Huh, as long as I defeat you before my life points run out, that's fine!" Somlier shouted, "Red Wine Derivative, direct attack!"
It essentially looked like a mass of red wine coalesced into a soft slime-shaped entity, flying straight towards Yugen.
"Then activate Cover Card," Yugen said, "Counterattack Trap 'Attack Powerlessness.' It negates the monster's attack, forcibly ending the battle phase."
Red Wine Derivative slammed into the spinning white vortex, only to be unsuccessful.
"Damn it..." Somlier was growing agitated.
Attacks can't get through, but using cards means just watching one's LP drop.
Was it an illusion? He actually felt like the sinister demon's phantom was gazing at him, as if it were coldly laughing, inspecting an impending soul to be harvested...
"Naturally, 'Attack Powerlessness' going to the grave also deals me 300 points of damage," Yugen said.
[Yugen, LP 3700→LP 3400]
"End of battle phase," Somlier said in a low voice, "I sacrifice 'Red Wine Derivative' and 'Wine Hero God Bacas'! Appear, my trump card—
——Large-sized Fine Wine- Giant Ram, Summon!" (Original Card)
The white giant ram leaped into the field amidst a burst of golden light, with two oversized wine bottles resembling cannons on its back.
[Large-sized Fine Wine- Giant Ram, Attack Power 2500]
"Derivatives leave the field without being sent to the grave, so the only monster sent to the grave is 'Wine Hero God Bacas,'" Somlier said.
Yugen nodded: "Then the effect of 'Temptation of the Undead,' dealing 300 points of damage."
[Somlier, LP 1300→LP 1000]
He had done almost nothing and was burned down to just 1000 LP, leaving the watching students speechless for a moment.
Though some thought it possible that the professional might not be the Master of the Yellow Robe's match, this unfolding situation seemed more than that. The widely claimed eighth-ranked professional Somlier was completely played by Master of the Yellow Robe...
"Set one more card, end turn," Somlier said.
At this point, his initial confidence was entirely replaced with the face of being under a great threat.
What a joke, is he really going to be crushed by a student here?
If this gets out, how's he supposed to stay in the professional circle? May as well retire here.
"Then it's my turn, draw,"
Yugen only glanced at the card he drew, then a card from the graveyard automatically exited.
"Last turn 'Handwriting Erasure' sent this card to the grave, Magic Card 'Take Over 5,'" Yugen said, "During the preparation phase, this card existing in the graveyard allows this card and the same name card from the card deck to be removed from the game, draw a card." (Original Card)
After drawing a card, he immediately waved his hand, flipping open a card from the backfield.
"Activate Continuous Trap 'Call of the Living Dead.' Revive the monster in your graveyard in Attack Position.
What I want to revive is this card discarded from 'Handwriting Erasure' last turn."
He pulled out a card exiting the graveyard, directly placing it on the Duel Disc.
"Special Summon 'Warm Worm' in Attack Position."
[Warm Worm, Attack Power 600]
"Attack Power is only 600..."
An obvious weak monster, but another worm with an unsettling appearance. Especially after gaining some insight into this student's unconventional dueling style, Somlier instinctively felt there was definitely a trick to this worm.
Sure enough, Yugen soon flipped another card from the backfield.
"Activate Trap 'Main Camp Assault,'" Yugen said, "Destroy one monster on your field, then send the top two cards from the opponent's card deck to the grave."
Somlier was once again stunned.
Under normal circumstances, this would clearly be a nonsensical trap, most would automatically ignore it as useless.
Destroying your own monster to pile two cards into the opponent's grave, what's the point?
But in this situation, it immediately made Somlier feel chills.
He somewhat guessed that the effect of this Warm Worm might be...
"Warm Worm's effect, when this card is destroyed, send three cards from the opponent's deck to the grave," Yugen smiled, "Therefore, I use 'Main Camp Assault' to destroy my 'Warm Worm,' thus sending five cards from your deck to the grave."
Somlier: "..."
Sending five cards to the grave again, Temptation of the Undead's effect, totaling another 1500 LP damage.
[Somlier, LP 1000]
He almost laughed in anger.
He realized this person had no intention from the start to summon a proper monster for direct combat against him.
No...
Are you really planning to burn me through the Temptation of the Undead all the way to defeat?
