Chapter 708 - Chapter 683: A Shift in Style?

"Power Combination!?"

Repack's mind stirred.

He remembered this card was exclusive to the Mechanical Race...

"Power Combination is a fusion magic exclusive to the Mechanical Race, allowing the fusion summoning of Mechanical Race fusion monsters using materials from the hand and field."

Yugen directly revealed the two cards in his hand.

"I fuse the two 'Cyber Dragons' in my hand, Fusion Summon—

—Cyber Twin Dragons!!!"

Two metallic dragons shot out from the cards he displayed from his hand. Their streamlined steel bodies were covered with cold silvery armor. An invisible force fused them together, like a powerful electromagnetic field exploding.

The crisp sound of metal armor, the metal dragons quickly merged and transformed, finally becoming one as a twin-headed steel dragon. Its massive and powerful steel body swung its tail, creating airflow as if ripping through space, releasing hissing electric snakes as it roared.

[Cyber Twin Dragons, Attack Power 2800]

"The effect of Power Combination doubles the attack power of the fusion monster summoned with this card."

[Cyber Twin Dragons, Attack Power 2800→Attack Power 5600]

"And Cyber Twin Dragons can attack twice during one battle phase."

The members of the Illusion Association gathered around Moonwalker were shocked.

A 5600 attack power monster right away, and it's a double strike. If you were on the opposite side, what could you even play?

Isn't this just a finger snap to instantly defeat someone?

Repack also slightly changed his expression, but not entirely because of this attack power of 5600 and the cyber dragon that could fire twice.

"Electronic Flow?"

He wondered privately.

Has the Duel King used this deck before?

"Cyber Twin Dragons attack, first strike," Yugen said, "attacking the face-down covered monster."

One of Twin Dragons' mouths suddenly opened, spewing forth burning flames.

Yet the cover card flipped over, and instead of the Sword Fighting Beast, it appeared to be a golden rocky piece. The front of the rock looked like an ugly face, with eyes glowing with dark red light, a large mouth grinning, and its mouth radiating a light akin to fiery lava.

[Nuclear Rock People, Defense Power 1000]

"Nuclear?"

Yugen's heart stirred.

This deck seemed vaguely familiar to him. It was a deck mainly composed of rocks and beast warriors, with most of its monsters having high attack points and powerful effects. But as a cost, most of the monsters require a magic card named 'Nuclear Beast's Steel Core' as COST. It's fair to say that card is the core of the entire deck.

Sure enough, the opponent continued, "When Nuclear Rock People are destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard, a 'Nuclear Beast's Steel Core' card or a monster with 'Nuclear' in its name below level 4 can be added into the hand from the deck.

Therefore, I'll take this card from my deck..."

He swiftly unfolded his deck and pushed out the card he wanted to search with his fingers, drawing it out and showing it to his opponent before adding it to his hand.

"Add the magic card 'Nuclear Beast's Steel Core' to my hand."

The key magic card of the Nuclear deck. Most nuclear monsters need to rely on this magic to activate effects or even to maintain presence on the field.

"The effect of searching upon destruction indicates that the covered monster was utilized as a set-up for subsequent development," Moonwalker said, "But Cyber Twin Dragons can attack twice per turn. If the second attack passes through, there won't even be a next turn..."

"Activate the cover card," Repack said, "Trap Card 'Time Mechanism.'

When a monster is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard, the controlling player of that destroyed monster can Special Summon it onto the field in the same representation form!"

A golden light burst out from his graveyard, and the image of the ugly-faced giant rock appeared on the field again.

[Nuclear Rock People, Defense Power 1000]

"Then Cyber Twin Dragons attacks again," Yugen said, "attacking Nuclear Rock People."

Repack slightly frowned.

Even knowing that destroying Rock People might trigger his own search again, if he insists on attacking...

This implies the opponent may have further offensive measures to follow. Considering the characteristics of the Electronic Flow deck, there might be a method within this turn to slay.

Therefore, Repack hesitated no longer.

"Then activate another cover card," Repack said, "Trap Card 'Peaceful Envoy.' For this turn, my monsters won't be destroyed by battle, and any battle damage will be reduced to 0!"

Within the trap appeared Peace Envoy draped in robes, whispering spells. A transparent barrier like a hemispherical shell enveloped Repack's field, causing Cyber Twin Dragons' attack to dissipate into nothingness.

"I see, the first attack was merely to search for 'Nuclear Beast's Steel Core,' was it not," Yugen smiled, "At the end of this turn, due to Power Combination's side effect, I'll receive damage equivalent to the original attack power of the fusion monster, which is 2800 points.

However, this effect only processes if the fusion monster summoned using Power Combination remains on my field face-up." (Original effect)

He casually took another card from his hand.

"Therefore, I activate the Speed Attack Magic 'Fusion Dispel,' undoing the fusion of 'Cyber Twin Dragons.'

The two-headed dragon emitted a low roar, its form dissolving and splitting back into two Cyber Dragons.

[Cyber Dragon, Attack Power 2100] x 2

"Marvelous," Pegasus Moonwalker commented, "This way, the side effect of Power Combination is circumvented."

Of course, such manipulation won't work with physical cards. In physical card form, Power Combination doesn't care if the fusion monster is still on the field during the end phase; any life points to be deducted will still be deducted.

Though physical cards operate under an 8000 life-point setting, the burn damage side effect usually isn't as lethal as it is in the animation. Manipulating physical cards to circumvent side effects can only be achieved by using invulnerability buffs like Temporary Truce for damage immunity.

Repack exhaled a breath of relief.

Indeed, his intuition was correct. If he didn't have 'Peaceful Envoy,' the opponent would've used Fusion Dispel to summon two Cyber Dragons during the battle phase and continue attacking, delivering a 4200 output, and he'd lose straight away.

Having activated Peaceful Envoy beforehand meant any attacks from the opponent were meaningless, and Repack still had Nuclear Rock People on the field, which could be a sacrifice for the next turn.

"Cover a card, turn end," Yugen said.

"It's actually Electronic Flow, which means I'll need to be cautious," Repack chuckled.

It certainly caught him off guard. He had heard previously that while the Duel King frequently changes decks, his personal preferences generally lean towards heavy traps or various peculiar, self-reclusive tactics.

Cyber Dragon, however, is visibly contrary to this man's usual style. It's well-known that the Electronic Flow deck is infamous for its powerful OTK strategies, starkly contrasting this individual's typical approach.

Now the man suddenly plays Cyber Dragon.

What does this mean? Starting to explore new directions?

Am I to be his test subject for new tricks?

Repack inwardly sneered.

Every duelist has their style, especially established experts. Forcing a change to accommodate one's style can easily backfire.

Let this arrogant King witness the consequences of underestimating me.

"My turn, draw cards.

Activate Magic Card 'Pot of Greed,' draw two cards from the deck."

Repack drew cards and instantly revealed another card from his hand.

"I sacrifice 'Nuclear Rock People,' Upper-level Summon!

Hell's Nuclear Demon God appears now—

—Level 8, Nuclear Demon God Valafar, summon!"
