Chapter 987 - Chapter 960: Fallen Angels

Fallen Angels.

This card deck also made its debut in "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX", but it belongs to the manga deck, used by a teacher at Duel Academy named Professor Hibiki.

Although Yugen had little interaction with Professor Hibiki, he knew she was something of a world-weary expert. She did not pursue fame in dueling too much; rather than proving herself in the arena, she was more content with leisure, just wanting to be a teacher at Duel Academy to be satisfied.

However, her younger brother Hibiki Momiji set his sights on far horizons, embarking on a professional path early, shining in duel arenas worldwide, even capturing the world champion title, being once called the "number one in hero card decks".

But the manga later mentions that although Hibiki Momiji won the world championship, in fact, it was the sister, Professor Hibiki, who was stronger. In the sibling duels, Momiji lost more than he won, not stronger than his sister.

Professor Hibiki was powerful as a duelist with extraordinary skills, and the strength of her card deck was also a significant reason. Even as physical cards, the Fallen Angels deck has significant potential, not to be underestimated.

At this moment, this deck appeared in the hands of the Evil God, and Yugen speculated that the opponent's deck completion might exceed that of Professor Hibiki. Even without considering the Evil God Card itself, the strength of the Fallen Angels is worth cautious confrontation.

The Evil God had already drawn two cards currently. After swapping hand cards, the number of cards remained at six, but two Fallen Angel resources had been sent to the graveyard.

The Evil God then hesitated not a bit, directly using the graveyard resources for attack.

"Activate the magic card 'Fallen Angel's Altar'!"

The Evil God waved his hand and the magic card appeared amidst golden waves in front.

"Only one 'Fallen Angel's Altar' can be activated per turn.

But this card can specially summon any Fallen Angel monster from your graveyard, in defense position!"

Evidently, he had two Fallen Angels in the graveyard at this time, he chose one from them and placed it on the Duel Disc.

"Special summon 'Fallen Angel Subbia'!!!"

Though named an angel, it unleashed a jet-black storm upon being summoned. Red feathers flew scattered through the skies, revealing a dark cylindrical body beneath the wings. Its prototype embodied the sin of pride, the heaviest sin to mankind.

[Fallen Angel Subbia, Defense Power 2400]

"Fallen Angel Subbia's monster effect!" the Evil God announced, "When Subbia is successfully special summoned from the graveyard, it can specially summon another Angel Race monster besides 'Fallen Angel Subbia' from the graveyard.

Hence, I summon another angel from the graveyard—"

Only the angel just sent into the graveyard remained, it was now retrieved back into his hand.

"Fallen Angel Ishita, descend!"

Black feathers stained by darkness fell like raindrops; as the wings spread, a delicately beautiful female angel slowly descended, with purple hair and red eyes, her complexion covered by a layer of dim filter.

[Fallen Angel Ishita, Attack Power 2500]

Malik remarked: "Immediately starting with two powerful upper-level monsters in the opening..."

Yugen was not surprised. He knew the Fallen Angel card deck was like this, majorly composed of high-star monsters with scarcely any small creatures.

Fallen Angels possessed the ability to instantly summon out numerous upper-level monsters for suppression, along with powerful resource flow and the capability to interfere with the opponent's actions outside the turn, that's the real trouble.

"They say, although you're human, you are quite special."

The Evil God spoke in a stiff tone.

"I just want to see how special you truly are."

With that, he raised his hand to command an attack.

"Fallen Angel Ishita, attack the face-down defense monster!"

The female Fallen Angel barely tapped her wings, soaring amidst a transparent vortex. Underneath the wing beats, countless black feathers shot forth like hidden weapons, puncturing through Yugen's rear cover monster with noisy blasts.

The golden-haired magician in blue, half-kneeling on the horizontally placed card, raised a magic staff across his chest to release a barrier. The Fallen Angel's bombardment pierced through the magic array, piercing the person through.

[Apprentice Magician, Defense Power 800]

"Apprentice Magician's monster effect." Yugen said instead, "When this card is destroyed by battle, it can special summon, in face-down defense position, a level 2 or lower Mage Race from the deck."

Another mage flew out from Yugen's deck, also a cool female, with the magic staff horizontally blocking at the front, quickly turning into a cover card upon image flash.

[Divine Mage, Defense Power 400]

The Evil God stated: "Subbia resurrected through the altar's effect is in defense position, it cannot attack this turn. Thus, I end my battle phase."

His expression was still stern, drawing another card from his hand.

"Cover a card, turn ended."

Yugen: "My turn, draw."

Upon drawing, he immediately flipped open the cover monster on the field.

"Flip summon 'Divine Mage'!"

[Divine Mage, Attack Power 300]

The purple-haired magician stood tall on the field, chanting with closed eyes. Black spell flowed out from the magic staff, sketching the outline of a green card in midair.

"When Divine Mage is flipped, you can add a magic card from the graveyard to your hand."

Yugen displayed the retrieved magic card.

"I add the magic card 'Pot of Greed' from the graveyard to my hand."

Yugen revealed the retrieved magic, then promptly played it again.

"The magic card 'Pot of Greed', draw two cards from the deck."

This was the strength of the Divine Mage, the crucial reason why this seemingly immature 1-star magician sat incarcerated for years. In early environments, clearing fields or earning cards heavily relied on powerful magic; there were countless magic cards with the power to reverse situations, making this card with magic recovery ability extraordinarily powerful.

"Then sacrifice the Mage Race 'Divine Mage' as a tribute!

Entrust hopes to the silent wings, Light Magician, appear now—

——True Silent Magician, summon!"

The magician was enveloped in pure white brilliance, a transparent array ascended from her feet to the head; silver hair flowed in the white light. A white robe like snow highlighted almost transparent-like skin, luminous dots on the magic staff.

[True Silent Magician, Attack Power 1000]

"True Silent Magician's attack power increases based on the number of cards in the hand." Yugen stated, "Now I have seven cards in hand, each boosting Silent Magician's power by 500 points.

Thus, the attack power of the Silent Magician is augmented by a total of 3500!"

[True Silent Magician, Attack Power 1000→Attack Power 4500]

Malik noted approvingly: "Looks like Mr. Yugen here is also no less imposing, sister."

Isis nodded: "Though he summoned an upper-level monster in the first turn, such level naturally cannot suppress the Duel King."

"Next, I'll remove the Light Attribute 'Divine Mage', Dark Attribute 'Apprentice Magician' from the game!"

Yugen raised his arm, continuing the chant as surprised expressions involuntarily emerged on Malik siblings' faces.

"Sacrifice the souls of light and dark to the field of chaos, invoking the legendary warrior to manifest! Open the heavens—

——Chaos Warrior - Messenger of Creation, summon!"
