"The World-Saving Demon Dragon has other abilities, right?" Yugen smiled.
Everyone: "!"
Especially Jack, his expression was the most complex, looking at Yugen with uncertainty.
How does this person know the effects of his World-Saving Demon Dragon?
The World-Saving Demon Dragon was a card that originally didn't exist in the world, a miraculous creation Jack printed by fusing Red Dragon Power. Until now, he had only used it a second time, the first being in a duel against Dark Markers Carly.
But as Jack knew, Godwin shouldn't have been observing that duel. Moreover, there was no record left of that duel, so no one outside should know the process of the duel.
So how could he know the effects of the World-Saving Demon Dragon?
Wait, before this...
If the other party knew the effects of the World-Saving Demon Dragon from the beginning, does that mean that including the current situation where the Phantom Demon Emperor is defeated, everything is still within the opponent's calculations?
Yugen said, "The World-Saving Demon Dragon has inherited the original effects of the 'Red Lotus Demon Dragon' and gained further enhancement, right?"
Jack said in a deep voice, "That's right. When the World-Saving Demon Dragon attacks, it destroys all Defense Position monsters on the field after damage calculation!"
The Red Lotus Demon Dragon's effect only activates after attacking a Defense Position monster, whereas the World-Saving Demon Dragon activates whenever it attacks.
Furthermore, the Red Lotus Demon Dragon only destroys Defense Position monsters on the opponent's field, while the World-Saving Demon Dragon indiscriminately sweeps both allies and opponents alike. Any Defense Position monster on the field is killed in one strike. Even this internal trait of potentially sabotaging one's own side is inherited from the original Red Lotus Demon Dragon.
Moreover, this effect is a mandatory activation; it must be triggered after attacking, even its controller has no choice.
"That's right, since your World-Saving Demon Dragon just attacked, it has to activate its effect to destroy all Defense Position monsters on the field," Yugen said with a smile.
"So what?" Jack frowned.
At this moment, the World-Saving Demon Dragon's effect had also been forcefully activated, the Demon Dragon roared, and towering demonic flames burst forth like a burning tsunami sweeping across the field.
Jack thought to himself, the only Defense Position monsters on the field were Godwin's three "Phantom Demon Derivatives," only Godwin's monsters would be destroyed. Shouldn't matter...
But the next moment, Yugen said, "Activate Cover Card, Trap Card 'Ithaca's Storm'!"
All monsters on the opponent's field... turn into Defense Position!"
A black bird appeared on Yugen's field, flapping its huge wings, and green storms turned into tornados sweeping across the three players' field.
"What!"
Jack's pupils contracted.
Oh no, if the field's monsters change defense, that means simultaneously there is...
[World-Saving Demon Dragon, Attack Power 4000→Defense Power 3000]
[Black Feather - Armored Wings, Attack Power 2500→Defense Power 1500]
Clero's Armored Wings were also forced into defense!
"You bastard!" Jack exclaimed, "You clearly could have stopped this attack before the World-Saving Demon Dragon attacked..."
Indeed, Yugen clearly could have activated this Cover Card earlier, ensuring the World-Saving Demon Dragon would be forced into defense before attacking, nullifying the attack and sparing Yugen from the 4000 points of damage.
But he deliberately did not.
Clero gritted his teeth, "This guy, he took the damage intentionally, from the start aiming to use the World-Saving Demon Dragon's effect to clear my Armored Wings..."
For a moment, another thought flashed through his mind.
Maybe the bastard opposite didn't even consider whether it was worthwhile; he might purely think it amusing to see their own internal traitors backstab their teammates' monsters.
Yugen said with a smile, "How regrettable it is that the Armored Wings, achieving meritorious service as the last line blocking the Phantom Demon attacks, in the end dying at the hands of their teammate, right?"
Everyone: "..."
This feeling intensified, maybe this bastard truly just thought watching them sabotage themselves was fun.
Yugen smiled cheerfully.
Aren't you unbeatable in friendship? Isn't it your bond? Who told you to bring a traitor along?
The destructive torrent swept across the entire field. Yugen's three Phantom Demon Derivatives, Clero's Armored Wings, were all reduced to nothing under the destroying torrent of the World-Saving Demon Dragon.
Of course, the World-Saving Demon Dragon itself is fine. It's not that the World-Saving Demon Dragon wouldn't blow itself up; its effect is to destroy "all Defense Position monsters on the field," naturally including itself. But the World-Saving Demon Dragon has a "cannot be destroyed by effects" breakdown resistance, thus surviving.
Otherwise blowing oneself up would be even more ridiculous.
"And simultaneously, at the moment the Phantom Demon Emperor is destroyed by battle, this card actually also activated."
Yugen pointed to a Cover Card revealed after the smoke cleared from beside him.
"Trap Card 'Resurrection Ticket'!
This card can be activated when your monsters on the field are destroyed by battle. In this turn, for each monster destroyed by battle, you can destroy a corresponding number of your Magic, Trap Cards on the field, and activate this card's effect.
For each destroyed Magic Trap Card, you can Special Summon one monster destroyed by battle from the graveyard back to the field." (Original Card)
Resurrection Ticket, this is one of the Trap Cards used in the anime by Yusei.
Yugen pointed to a Cover Card in his backfield.
"Destroy this Cover Card, revive 'Phantom Demon Emperor Rabil' destroyed in battle this turn!"
"Revived again!?"
Everyone was dumbfounded.
Are these Phantom Demons truly immortal? It's never-ending?
The ground shattered again, the Phantom Demon Emperor who had just fallen under the World-Saving Demon Dragon's attack drilled back from below the earth, towering and imposing under the sky.
[Phantom Demon Emperor Rabil, Attack Power 4000]
"It's not over yet, Resurrection Ticket's follow-up effect," Yugen smiled, "Through the effect of this card, after reviving monsters on the field, you can restore all battle damage that occurred this turn."
[Yugen, LP 1700→LP 5700]
Everyone: "......"
Silence.
Strange silence.
Especially Jack, his expression already vacant, his gaze towards the impenetrable mountain-like gigantic Phantom Demon Emperor was somewhat unfocused.
Truly...can't win?
He truly had already exhausted all his efforts.
He had burned himself, put himself into desperate straits and then rose, using "Desperate Treasure Scroll" to mill his entire card deck into the grave, a do-or-die final battle. He gathered the power of the Dragon Seal, even borrowed the power of the Red Dragon and printed out a trump card like the World-Saving Demon Dragon, making a life-or-death all-out attack.
In fact, he also knew this attack couldn't cut it. Attacking could deliver 4000 points of tremendous damage to the opponent and knock down the Phantom Demon Emperor, whereas when his next turn arrives, he would lose because he had no card to draw.
So Jack already admitted he was inferior to the opponent, admitted that the current him was not a match for Godwin. What he wanted was simply to output as much as possible for the team before falling, making as much contribution as possible.
Yet in the end, the result was the sabotage of his teammate's trump monster. The Phantom Demon Emperor returned to the field without a scratch, even the hard-earned damage became nothing...
Jack Atlas, this former king lowered his head and looked at his hands, feeling that since he embarked on the dueling path, he had never felt as powerless as now, nor had he self-doubted as much as now.
