Chapter 2 - Valenicry

Eyes were wandering all around, searching for anything that he can recall. Anything he knows, or anything normal to his term. But as he expected, nothing much aside from the shape of the trees that surround him. Which are tall and have leaves.

Through the watch on his wrist, he could tell that it was only about thirty minutes since he got there, on an alien land. But it sure did feels like hours had passed by due to the absolute nothing that happened to him for as long as he been there. No wild animals that try to harm him, no any kind of stranger from that alien land, nothing of sort have appear before him. He could only let his mind left in wonder to the place. They might be a danger he has yet to encounter, or there might even be a kind stranger that would somehow helps him through the jungle.

But not so long after that, his ears caught a rustling sound from behind. Without losing a second, he quickly turned around to observe while taking a step to the front to distance himself from the sound. There was nothing. Besides falling leaves, and hopping bunny-like animal with no eyes which is coincidentally jumped out from behind a tree as he look back.

'Nah, this seriously suspicious... I'm not stupid... There really was something big just now.' Sweat began to dripping from his face as fear in him was slowly increasing. 'Please don't be hostile. Please don't be hostile...!' His eyes shut tight as he was ready with fighting stance in case he ever need to fight. Although he knows that he's not strong to begin with.

After a moment of waiting for something or someone to come out, there was really nothing came out. Therefore, he dropped his guard down. He turns back with his face dropped down because of feeling relieved. But surprisingly, there was a set of feet right behinds him. Fear quickly consume him, and sweats began to dripping like crazy.

'Hoh... This is my end...' He put up a fed up smile while holding back his tears as he lifts his sight up to see it's face. There was a humanoid figure with grey skin, wearing a headgear that looks like an Aztec lizard god's head with sharp fangs instead of blunt fangs. Upon seeing it, his smile became more visible as his face slowly turning white, and his eyes were lightly shut as he giving up his life.

In the next second, he lost his consciousness after being hit with a really heavy punch from the alien.

THE END

. . .

. . .

Just kidding. Not yet...

. . .

Head feels like being squished hard while shaking fast. Everything was blurry and spinning as he slowly opens his eyes. "Ugh... Fish... Shite..." His body turned to the side as he was trying to bring himself up from the ground. The ground was tough but also a little damp and cold.

Once his sight was slowly getting clearer, a surprise awaits him right in front of his face. He startled and jumped back a bit to see a mask with big round yellow eyes in front of him. For a moment, the man with the mask was just staring at him while doing nothing, like he was observing him. He then turned around and went to meet someone around the corner which Beck couldn't see. Only a glimpse of that person's shadow could be seen from Beck's perspective. But that was enough of him to guess that the person might be the leader. Through that, an idea came to his mind.

Seeing his current situation, alive though not well, but considering he have not been eaten yet, the aliens must have kept him alive for something. His percentage to be left alive might not be high but that's also the very reason for him to try his idea on communicating with them specifically with the leader. Although the language barrier would surely be getting in the way, he would somehow do gestures to make them understand what he will be trying to say.

That was his original plan right before he saw the supposed to leader of them.

His massive figure was revealed as he was slowly coming out from the corner. His head was just about an inch away from hitting the ceiling that is because he was slightly bend his body a bit. His scary gaze was staring at Beck from above with his black eyes. Even though all the other parts of him looks very similar to human aside from their skin colour, but looking at the size of the thing in front of him, surely is not a human.

'I'm dead. I'm really dead...' His face was pale again out of fear.

Just when his body almost dropped to the ground, he was grabbed by the massive guy and was carried like a toy as he was walking out from the room. Outside, the night sky was filled with stars and moons... Yes, moons. There were three moons up in the sky, lined up to each others. Shining bright and lit up the night.

While he was being carried, his eyes wander to left and right. Seeing that the residents of the alien were all looking at him with wondering eyes. Guards were on full armor, looking at him with wary. Some adult aliens could be seen telling their children to get back into their tent which they were living at. Despite that, he could also see something else. He saw struggles from them.

The alien residents there were all wearing tattered fabric as cloth, tents were full of uneven plasters, some even have untreated wounds and severed limbs with chaotic bandages wrapped around them. These kind of struggles aren't the kind where they have no progress towards modernity. But instead, it clearly looks like a struggle of war.

After a while of walking, or in Beck's case, getting carried, they arrived at the biggest bonfire of the camp. Beside it, was another alien wearing mask with stacks of bord feathers that runs down to his neck from the top of the mask. His back was covered with a fur of a beast that was worn like a coat. Massive feathers covers his whole body, all around from neck to his ankles. Looking at the appearance of the guy, Beck changed his guess on the big guy being the leader. It is now clear, that the one that just appeared is the real leader of the alien civilization.

"Krák burt hing te" The leader figure let out a sound while slowly approaching Beck. It sounds like he was trying to communicate. Looking at how his head keeps tilting as he come closer, signify that he was wondering about Beck. "Balter!" He suddenly raised his voice, pressing Beck.

Beck was startled by him but what can he do? He doesn't understand even a single thing of what he said. 'Fuck you~ I don't even understand a thing, fraking alien...' He could only put up an awkward smile.

"Krák maksudnya 'Apa', Burt maksdunya 'Kamu', Hing maksudnya 'Ini', dan te menandakan ayat itu sebuah soalan." A hoarse voise suddenly spoken out of the blue. "Adakah kamu faham dengan apa yang saya katakan?" A hunchbacked alien with wrinkled skin and a tall stick emerged from behind the leader figure.

'Wait, that's.... A language from Earth... I've studied this before out of interest. It's...' Beck was trying to figure out what was the language. And finally, the answer appeared 'It's either Indo or Malay! Now I got the language, let's translate it. Let's see... She asked me whether I understand what she explained, isn't it...'

"Uh... Ya, saya faham..." He tried to speak a foreign language that he learned but never got the chance to speak of it. Therefore, he wasn't sure as to his pronunciations are spot on or far off. It means Yes, I understand.

'Do I even pronounce it right...?' He began to sweats much heavier.

The leader figure sounded again but towards the older one. "Nalk, burt ahn te?" And his voice was softer than he was with Beck.

"Bat arbi lamn den rak bait." The older one replied. Then he approaches Beck slowly with grumpy face. "Kamu... Manusia, bukan? Daripada bumi."

The question completely took Beck by surprise. 'Hah...? How...?'

Without waiting for Beck's response, the elder got closer to him as Beck little by little jerking back until the big guy stops him. The poor human boy was cornered and was engulfed in fear as the elder raised his staff up, and tapped his forehead lightly.

Out of sudden, it feels like a light– or a wave washes over his head from the inside as his eyes were blinded by a light. The incident froze him up for a moment. He was literally brainwashed by a knowledge. Knowledge of the Valenicry tribe. Their language, their civilization, their history, and their current situation. All the surviving, and all the suffering they tribe have been through was shown to the human boy in an instant.

A teardrop suddenly falls at the corner of his eyes. Very soon, his eyes began to become watery as his expression changed from being terrified of them, to being engulfed in sadness. His hands quickly reaching for his eyes to wipe the tears that were flowing down.

"That process just now, was a memory transfer." The elder spoke again but this time, Beck can understand her. "I transferred a part of my memories to you so that you can understand us, including knowledge about our history and our current situation. We are the Valenicry Tribe of Nyork."

The leader figure seems to be surprised upon hearing the elder.

By listening to her, Beck's eyes wander to his surroundings, looking at all the aliens of Valenicry tribe around him. Injured, starving, lack of energy.

"You probably confused of how I get to speak one of your language just now, don't you?" The elder continued. "Let us continue our conversation inside the tent." She open up her right arm, showing the way to the tent that she spoke of.

. . .

"Beck, how was your school toda–" Martha Allen, mother of Beck entered his bedroom to greet her son. But Beck was nowhere to be seen. While a sense of wonder brush over her head, she caught the figure of her other son, elder brother to Beck was just about to enter his bedroom. "Jonathan, have you seen your little brother?"

"Hm?" Jonathan look at her, "Dunno. Haven't seen him." He then walked into his bedroom.

The mother was left in thought. Where could his son be at this late evening? But she just shrugged it off with a positive thought, 'Beck tends to sleep in class. Maybe he got a detention class going on.' She goes downstairs to the kitchen to cook dinner for the family.

A fire on a torch flickers by a soft breeze as the elder finished her part of the story that she was telling to Beck inside the tent.

"So... You're elder Broyak," Beck said as he points at the elder. Then his finger moves to the leader "you're the Mankgui– the leader of the tribe, Roxza," His finger moves again towards the biggest elephant in the room "and you're the troop leader... What's the name again?"

The big guy was looking down at him with menacing eyes before opening his mouth to answer. "Name is Vratvah." His voice was deep but just by his tone, one can tell that he's a disciplined one.

"Vratvah, right... So, Laynt. Your planet called Laynt, you are the tribe called Valenicry, and and you all are being hunted by some bigger tribes. Been living as survivors in this jungle. And you..." Beck pointed back at the elder. "You have meet a human like me before. The only difference is that he came from another country therefore use another language beside my language. Fortunately enough, I learned the language..." Reassured smile shaped on his face.

"Correct. And as what you've told us, your name is Beck Allen, right?" The elder spoke. Beck nodded lightly to the question. "And as I've already expected, you're from the planet called Earth. From your story, unlike the person I've met before, you're appeared on this planet so sudden that even you don't know how. I must say that it's suspicious, but from that person's point of view, human don't have any kind of way to transport to another place in an instant, unlike us."

Her statement rose question in Beck's mind. "Wait, what do you mean by 'unlike us'? You guys have a way to teleport– I mean, instant transport?"

The elder nodded. "Roxza, care to demonstrate?" The leader just nodded in agreement even though there was a slight groans that followed along.

'He just groaned, didn't he...?' Beck was uneasy. 'By the way, doesn't Roxza sounds like a name for a girl?'

Roxza raised his right hand, revealing some dark markings– lines that run down from his elbow, crosses each other down to his palm. Soon after, the line glows with green lighting and he gone.

But something caught Beck's eyes right in that moment he gone. There were green particles left behind at the spot Roxza was at. And particles leaving a trace of crack. But at the same time, he could also feel the particles behind him. And his eyes moved instinctively to look at the back. Roxza was already at his back with one hand touching the back of his head.

'Teleportation...!' Beside having an alien hand at the back of his head, he couldn't deny that seeing a teleportation for the first time in real life, in front of his very own eyes was an absolutely exciting experience. He bite down his own lips just to hide his excitement to not be disrespectful.

"That is what I mean by instant transportation of our laynxian species on this planet." The elder smirked in proud as she was just told Roxza to performed that to show off to Beck of her species specialty.

But there was someone at the back who lets out a light grumbling sound. 'He... Saw it...' Vratvah thought. Still looking down to Beck from the back.

Right at Beck's back at the back. Nyeheh~
