Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Chomping Cabbage

The third day of the Hogwarts school year was probably the most anticipated day for the new Hufflepuff students, because not only was it a Friday, but the classes were also the ones they were most interested in.

In the morning, there was Herbology Class with Head of House Professor Sprout, and in the afternoon, there was Defence Against the Dark Arts and Flying Class.

Early in the morning, they arrived with Gryffindor at the greenhouses outside the Hogwarts Castle.

"Good morning, students, and welcome to Herbology Class."

Pomona Sprout was a short witch with flowing gray hair. Because she usually spent time in the greenhouse tending to plants, her clothes were always dusty.

Compared to her grand title as Head of House, she looked more like an unassuming gardener.

However, Professor Sprout herself didn't mind this at all. Standing at the greenhouse door, she seriously addressed the young wizards before her:

"Before entering the greenhouse, I must remind you of a few things. This is important.

First of all, the greenhouse contains magical plants that generally possess a certain level of danger. Even ordinary Dittany has sharp thorns, so without my permission, you are not allowed to touch any plants.

Also, you are not allowed to make loud noises or scream inside the greenhouse because it temporarily holds several new plants I just received at Hogwarts. They are still adjusting to the environment, and loud noises might scare them.

Do you all understand?"

"Understood!" everyone answered in unison.

"Good." Professor Sprout nodded.

Upon entering the greenhouse, she arranged for everyone to stay on the left side, leaving the right side completely empty.

...In fact, even if she hadn't arranged it this way, no young wizard would likely want to go that way.

"Professor, what are those weird things!" a new Gryffindor student looked at the row of strange yellow plants in front of him with a face turning green.

Merlin's beard, it was his first time seeing cabbages with fangs, and the mouths were as big as his head. Getting bitten would surely be disastrous.

Thinking of this, he moved back again.

"Chomping Cabbage, you'd better stay away from them." Professor Sprout said with feigned ease, "But don't worry too much; though they look terrifying, they're all good kids. As long as you don't provoke them, there's absolutely no danger.

And in a few days, once they've adapted to the environment here, they will be moved to a larger greenhouse. By the time of your next class, you won't see them anymore."

"Alright." Professor Sprout clapped her hands, "Now let's start class. Turn to the first page of your books; today we will learn about Dittany.

Does anyone know what Dittany is...?"

If you ignore those terrifying-looking Chomping Cabbages, then this Herbology class was pretty much perfect.

Professor Sprout possessed exceedingly rich knowledge of Herbal Medicine, and with detailed explanations paired with physical references, the young wizards found it incredibly easy to learn.

By the end of the class, almost everyone could perfectly answer every question she posed.

This made Professor Sprout very happy, and she awarded each house three points and gave everyone a fresh Dittany leaf.

This is like a "Band-Aid" in the Magic Realm. Kai had used them before, and the effect was excellent. Once cleaned and fixed to a wound, it would typically heal by the next day.

Of course, it's limited to minor injuries encountered in daily life; anything too severe requires Dittany Essence.

After class, they all left the greenhouse together.

Mikel found Kai in the crowd and curiously asked him, "What did you pick up just now?"

"What are you talking about?" Kai looked at him puzzled, "I was just loosening the soil for the Dittany."

"I saw it all." Mikel said confidently, "You ran across while Professor Sprout turned to grab a tool and picked something up from under those pots."

"Oh, that!" Kai realized, "It's nothing, just the fertilizer packet the professor gave me, which accidentally fell there, so I picked it up."

"Fertilizer packet?" Mikel looked at Kai skeptically, clearly doubting his words.

A very light little bag, and not even round-shaped, could hardly have fallen that far.

"Uh, maybe I accidentally kicked it over there. I was so scared when I found it." Kai said with a look of fear, "Those Chomping Cabbages are really terrifying. Honestly, if I wasn't afraid of getting points deducted by Professor Sprout, I wouldn't have gone to pick it up."

"Is that so?"

Seeing Kai seem so earnest, Mikel gradually dispelled his doubts, nodding his head, "Those Chomping Cabbages do look quite terrifying. If it were me, I'd definitely be too scared to go there."

"No kidding." Kai shrugged, "By the way, did Professor Sprout mention when she'll teach you to control magic power?"

"Yes, the professor told me to find her on Saturday and Sunday mornings."

Mikel said, a bit dejectedly, "It's Hogwarts' first weekend, and I still have to take classes..."

"There's no other choice." Kai patted his shoulder, comforting him, "You can't keep drinking Demon Suppression Potion forever."

At the mention of Demon Suppression Potion, Mikel shuddered instinctively and shook his head repeatedly, "You're right; I'd rather never have weekends again than drink that stuff."

"Exactly."

When they got back to the castle, Kai told Mikel and Ryan to return to the dormitory while he headed to the library, heading directly to the eighth floor and finding the tapestry of Trolls clubbing the foolish Barnabas.

Barnabas was a wizard who, after trying to teach Trolls to ballet dance, ended up getting a severe beating by six trolls.

From the tapestry, he seemed to have been quite badly beaten.

After confirming the location, Kai took a deep breath, walked back and forth three times nearby, and repeated in his mind.

"I need a greenhouse for planting."

When Kai passed by the tapestry for the third time, a round arch appeared on the opposite wall.

Without hesitation, Kai grasped the brass handle and pushed the door open.

A unique earthy fragrance immediately washed over him.

Although anticipated, the scene in front of him still stunned Kai.

The room was nearly as large as the auditorium; fertile soil underfoot, he could even see the sun when he looked up.

It was probably some kind of charm.

Kai tentatively said in a low voice, "I need rain."

The next moment, the room, previously bathed in bright sunshine, immediately downpoured, yet these raindrops seemed to have a consciousness, only falling on the soil, not even getting Kai's hair wet.

"Amazing." Kai sincerely marveled.

This truly is what you call the Room of Requirement.

Using it as a second-hand storage room and whatnot is simply a waste of talent.
