Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: The Cry of a Thousand Birds

The support team led by Uchiha Kairen and his two companions might not have held great strategic importance overall, but wherever they arrived within a given jurisdiction, the effect was immediately obvious.

For several consecutive days, the Uchiha Police Force rapidly completed clean-up operations across various districts. Other divisions, seeing their example, followed suit — swiftly wrapping up the suppression and inspection of thugs, hooligans, and suspicious individuals.

Letters of gratitude addressed to the three brothers began piling up on the clan leader's desk. Of course, Uchiha Kaze also had a hand in this — any letter that praised the three was submitted straight to the top, while any complaint was quietly burned.

The secretary, Uchiha Gorou, made sure that every letter of thanks mentioning Uchiha Kairen was always placed at the very top of the day's paperwork.

Every morning, Uchiha Nobunaga (the Leader and Kairen's uncle) would arrive at the office, and the first letter he read was always a thank-you note about his nephew. At first, he felt proud — thinking, "That's my family for you, always doing things right."

But after seeing it every single day, it started getting a little annoying.

In the end, he scribbled down a short note:

"In recognition of the three's outstanding efforts during this period, a special reward of 200,000 ryō will be granted to their division. The three squad leaders are also given a week's leave."

Ah—finally, a week to breathe. He smiled to himself in satisfaction.

Fugaku's about to graduate… let him follow his big brother for a while. Heh, that's perfect.

When Uchiha Kairen received the commendation order, the first thing he did was distribute the money among everyone. Then he organized a picnic for all three squads together. He even prepared scrolls — each containing personal training insights on a certain jutsu — as gifts for the three most hardworking members, to help them grow further.

And just like that, the vacation began.

Every day, Kairen went to the training ground, intent on perfecting the Chidori Flow series of jutsus before submitting them to the clan.

This time, however, he wouldn't hand them to Konoha — doing so now would be aiding the enemy.

Unlike before, he no longer wanted to play nice with the higher-ups.

If he calculated correctly, the Third Great Ninja War would begin in just a few years. His priority now was to ensure that more of his clansmen survived.

As for everyone else — who cared whether they lived or died?

A week later, he invited his uncle, parents, three teachers, his little brother Fugaku, and a few friends who had vaguely caught wind of what was going on. After all, they often came to spar or train together.

When everyone had gathered, Uchiha Kairen said,

"Alright then — I'll begin."

"First of all, this is Chidori."

"By concentrating Lightning-nature chakra into your hand, you rush forward and pierce the enemy — it has extremely strong penetration power and a paralyzing effect. Because of the intense current, it produces a shrill sound, like a thousand birds crying at once. Hence the name, Chidori — the Thousand Birds. Next, I'll demonstrate the derived techniques developed from it."

"Chidori Blade — by channeling Lightning chakra into a weapon, you enhance its lethality. Those struck by it are paralyzed, unable to move."

"Chidori Senbon — transforming Chidori into countless sharp senbon needles to strike at the enemy. The number of needles depends on chakra control, and when used together with the Sharingan, it can target vital points precisely."

"Chidori Sharp Spear — shaping Chidori into a spear form for mid-range attacks. Though its power isn't as great as the original Chidori, the longer range lowers the risk, making it ideal for surprise attacks or capturing targets."

"Chidori Stream — releasing electricity through the entire body, striking everyone within a certain radius. It can also serve as a defensive move when surrounded by multiple enemies."

The crowd stared, wide-eyed, but Kairen ignored their stunned expressions and continued calmly,

"As for training Chidori, any ninja with good chakra control and proficiency in Lightning Release can learn it.

But in actual combat, since it requires rushing at high speed toward an opponent, there's a risk of counterattack if your vision can't keep up. That's why it must be paired with the Sharingan to achieve its full potential."

"This jutsu is custom-made for our clan — it allows any member who has awakened the Sharingan to achieve a qualitative leap forward!"

He finished with a grin, his expression saying, "Well? Go ahead, praise me already."

Uchiha Kaze was the first to recover from his shock.

"Show us again," he said, activating his Sharingan.

The others followed, all opening their Sharingan as well.

So Kairen had no choice but to perform the entire Chidori series again before an audience of red-eyed spectators — like a salesman from his past life demonstrating new weapon tech. He carefully explained each jutsu's principles, uses, strengths, weaknesses, and safety notes.

Just as he was considering whether he should go home and write an instruction manual, Uchiha Nobunaga, seemingly half-awake, spoke up:

"Kairen, did you just say you plan to submit these jutsu to the clan? Good boy! The future of the Uchiha truly rests with your generation."

Uchiha Kaze added,

"Kairen, I think these jutsus should only be submitted to the clan. They can be listed as the clan's secret, untransmittable arts — after all, they rely on the Sharingan to reach their full effect."

His tone clearly implied: Don't go selling this to Konoha again.

Kairen's father, Yasuyuki, laughed heartily:

"Hahaha, as expected of my son! Your talent's already catching up to your old man's. The clan and the village may not get along perfectly, but we're still part of it.

If this jutsu were also handed to the village, it'd show good faith — and you could exchange it for other techniques that interest you.

You said it yourself — without a Sharingan, no one can truly master it anyway."

Uchiha Ze, who had remained quiet till now, shook his head:

"Yasuyuki, enough. The truth is, relations between the clan and the village haven't been good since the Second Hokage's time. We've tried before — there's no need to cling to naïve hopes."

Uchiha Sa joined in:

"I think what Yasuyuki means is to make the village believe that the next generation of the Uchiha still wishes to integrate with it. But rather than offering it to the village, why not let the clan do the submission ourselves?

It might redefine the future relationship between the Uchiha and the village."

Then he looked over at Fugaku.

Uchiha Ran added quietly,

"It's not like the Uchiha haven't produced Hokage's disciples before — but we all know how that ended."

Hearing Uchiha Sa's words, Uchiha Kairen had an idea.

He thought: Maybe I can let Fugaku join Minato's team.

He said aloud,

"I believe it would benefit both the clan and the village if we, the clan, make the submission.

We can request that Jiraiya-sama, the Third Hokage's disciple, become Fugaku's teacher.

Jiraiya has always valued understanding and peace — he'd sincerely teach him, and this team could become a bridge between the Uchiha and the village."

"He doesn't have to become the Hokage's direct disciple — that might seem too calculating.

Besides, there's no guarantee the Hokage himself would teach him sincerely.

But making Fugaku the Hokage's grand-disciple — now that's a friendly gesture. It gives people hope that the clan and village might one day truly unite."

"To most, Fugaku would just look like a talented kid.

But to the Hokage faction, he's the young patriarch — the heir of the Uchiha.

And that will shape the future of both the Uchiha and the village."

After speaking, Kairen patted his little brother's head and smiled,

"Don't feel pressured. This is just the clan's attempt to blend into Konoha.

If it doesn't work, we'll find another way.

And if Jiraiya really does become Hokage someday — who knows, maybe our family will produce a Hokage's right hand. Hahaha!"

Uchiha Nobunaga was delighted. Such brotherly harmony had always been the Uchiha clan's pride.

"Well, as your uncle, I suppose I should pull some strings and get you a few benefits, huh?"
