Si-Hun woke up feeling lazy but ready for the chaos of the day.
He rubbed his eye with one hand while his other hand was supporting his strong body.
"What type of morning is this?" He mutters, his voice deep and rough from sleep.
He got out of bed and freshened up.
The morning routine was as usual.
"Ahh…it's cold," Si-Hun said, being playful, different from his normal energy.
"What's gotten into you? You're being so dramatic…" Kuro muttered.
"Aishh…Can't I be a little tipsy?''
"No."
Si-Hun rolled his eyes.
"Gotta kill some bastards today," Si-Hun said to Kuro while styling his hair in front of the mirror.
"Aren't you gonna ask Su-Yeon out?" Kuro replied.
"What? ASK her out?"
"Yeah."
"W-what do you mean, I ask…her out?" Si-Hun said, his tone oblivious, mixed with flusteration.
"I don't understand. You said you were gonna ask her about the outing?"
Si-Hun raised his brows in realisation and quickly looked away.
"O-oh. I will…ask her about that." He said as he picked up his bag from the couch, put on his jacket, and took his bike's keys.
"He caught me off guard." Si-Hun thought as he unlocked his phone and texted Su-Yeon about the whole thing.
He shoved the phone in his pocket as he left the house.
He arrived at the portal site and saw Jae-Un standing, talking to a girl.
Si-Hun tilted his head a little and stared at Jae-Un, whose body language screamed nervousness.
"He seems excited and nervous at the same time."
Si-Hun parked his bike and removed his helmet.
[A group of teens passing by]
"Ahhh…that guy is so handsome~!"
"I know, right!?"
"I wish I could talk to him~."
"He's way out of your league."
"What do I say about yours!?"
"Haha, I'm way prettier!"
"Like a witch!"
"Shut up!"
Si-Hun looked at the girls fighting and just got away from them.
Kuro smirked while eating his banana.
"Hilarious." He whispered.
Si-Hun came behind Jae-Un and stood behind him.
The girl spotted him, and surprisingly, she wasn't drooling over Si-Hun.
Si-Hun smirked to himself and put a hand over Jae-Un's shoulder.
Jae-Un stumbled, startled.
"WHOA! AT LEAST TELL ME BEFORE SCARING ME LIKE THAT!" He shouted.
The girl chuckled seeing him like that.
Jae-Un looked back at her and rubbed the back of his neck while putting an embarrassed smile on his face.
"H-he's my friend…"
"Nice to meet you, mister." That girl extended her hand to shake his.
"Nice to meet you too,'' Si-Hun said, but pretended not to see her hand.
She raised her brows and pulled her hand back, a little embarrassed.
"Mean." She muttered under her breath, but Si-Hun caught it.
"She's a new member," Jae-Un said.
"I see,'' Si-Hun replied.
"I don't like new members." He thought.
"Let's enter the portal," Si-Hun said as he left.
"Your friend was mean," Hye Rin whispered in Jae-Un's ears.
"He's like that, don't mind him," Jae-Un assured.
They entered the portal.
"I am excited for my first ever raid!" Hye Rin squeaked.
"Glad I'm here with you,'' Jae-Un said, smiling.
She wandered into the cave, leaving Jae-Un and Si-Hun alone.
"Care to explain who this is?" Si-Hun said.
"She is a new member. She joined the day you didn't come."
"Hmm."
"And why did you not accept her handshake!?" Jae-Un said, confronting him.
"I didn't feel like it."
"Ahh, come on. She thinks you're mean."
Si-Hun glanced at Jae-Un and scoffed softly.
"Haha, she's got some magic on you."
"Very funny!"
"I know."
Jae-Un just sighed deeply, annoyed by Si-Hun's sarcasm.
"Ahh!" Someone shouted from a few feet away.
"It's…it's her!" Jae-Un said as he rushed to help her.
"What happened!?" Jae-Un asked, concerned.
"This weirdo won't stop clinging to me!" She said, scared by a literal small goblin who didn't even have a weapon.
The goblin was biting on her sleeve while she was all screaming.
Jae-Un just stood there, mouth open.
He stepped forward and shoved the goblin away and killed it.
"Is…that what you were scared of?"
"Obviously! He was biting on my sleeve like that!"
"Then you really shouldn't see the boss…" Jae-Un said in disbelief.
"Why?"
"He's even scarier."
"Really?"
Jae-Un sighed, thinking about how she even became a predator.
Si-Hun was standing there, enjoying the chaos.
"Hilarious." He muttered as well, hands in his pockets.
They reached the boss chamber.
She stayed outside the chamber while everyone else fought the boss inside.
After the whole raid, they came out of the portal.
"I'll leave early," Si-Hun said as he got on his bike and left from there, leaving only Jae-Un and Hye Rin.
"Thanks for saving me from that weird thing…" She whispered.
"Ah, you're good!" He said while smiling.
"See you tomorrow then?" She asked.
"Sure." He replied.
She smiled and nodded before leaving, chuckling to herself.
"He's cute…" She blurted to herself.
Jae-Un saw her leaving and was flustered to the core.
"She's so cute…" He whispered to himself.
Si-Hun, on the other hand, had reached home.
He opened the door and sat lazily on the couch.
"I'll leave for Arthur's in some time." He said as he closed his eyes.
[Minjun POV]
Minjun was in his car, heading for Arthur's house.
"Gotta see what this old man has in there." He said to himself.
He drove fast and reached the address Yu-Jun had given him.
He reached the address and got out of his car.
He shraply observed the surroundings before entering the shop.
"Hey…old man. You're Arthur, I see?"
"Yes. What brings you here, officer?" Arthur said as he looked at the clothes and the badge.
Minjun Leaned din on the counter.
"Nothing, I just wanted to ask some casual questions."
Arthur was a little hesitant.
"About what?"
"If I'm right, you know about this guy Si-Hun?"
Arthur's instincts took over him at that time, but he knew the police already knew about him; that's why they asked.
"I do, officer.''
"Great. May I ask what business does he comes here for?"
"Uhh…he comes here for practice. Shooting practice." Arthur said, composed.
"I see… He comes here daily?"
"No." Arthur lied.
Minjun's eyes were tense and intimidating.
Arthur was afraid he hadn't asked anything that could put Si-Hun in danger.
"What do you know about him?" This made Arthur freeze.
"I never asked him about anything. He just comes here for practice sometimes. I only know his name, nothing else."
"So you just train people with weapons and don't even ask them why they're interested in weapon mastery?"
"Haha, no…he said he is a predator. Predators are allowed to shoot, right?"
"Right."
"Anyway…Is he involved in fighting outside portals and anything other than monsters…You would know cause you train him?"
"Nah…he's just a normal guy who practices shooting. Yeah…he does get involved in street fights, but it's not serious." Arthur said, his tone a little shaky.
Minjun noticed the slight tremble as he observed Arthur.
"Explains why he had blood on his knuckles a few days back. He seemed to come from a physical fight." Minjun muttered to himself.
Arthur was sweating slightly, worried that if he made even one mistake, it could cost Si-Hun so much.
"Look, we are doing this investigation because of those random murders on the streets. The main goal is to find the killer, and we had Si-Hun as a suspect."
"Officer…I know someone who might be involved in this.
Minjun looked at him immediately.
"Who's it?"
"It's this guy I've seen normally who comes for weapons here. He lives in a shady area near those murder sites. I'm not sure if he's suspicious, but…I thought it would be a help to you if I told you anything suspicious."
"Another guy? Seems interesting. By far, everything this man told me doesn't make me suspicious about this Si-Hun. Plus, we have not seen him in any murder related shit. I still can't let him slide by until I'm satisfied. Let's take a look at this new guy he's talking about…" Minjun thought as he looked up again, out of his thought, finally.
Arthur straightened up slightly as he saw him snapping back again.
"One wrong move...you're done, boy!" Arthur thought.
"Interesting, this guy seems. Tell me about him."
Arthur gave him fake information about this guy who didn't even exist.
It was just a man made by Arthur so he could Minjun, because he knew that Si-Hun needed to know this.
"I can't betray him like that. I call him my son...what good am I when I fail twice to fulfil the role of a father?" Arthur thought.
He knew Si-Hun wasn't ordinary…he never confronted him.
He distracted Mijun and led him out of the way for now.
Who knows how much time they would have until Minjun finds out the truth…
"Si-Hun needs to know this…young man, you're in trouble!" Arthur thought.
"He says he doesn't know anything about Si-Hun. This guy seems like a waste of time…but I'll keep an eye on him too." Minjun thought.
"Thanks for your time," Minjun said as he left.
He got in his car and drove off.
Arthur was left standing there, forehead damp but body steady.
"I have to act fast..." Arthur whispered, the concern in his voice greater than his composure.
"So he doesn't know much about him? Off setting."
