The night passed.
It was the next day.
Si-Hun got up with a straight but tired face, his body a little loose.
"Morning came already…" He muttered to himself as he got off the bed.
He went straight to the bathroom and took a shower.
He got out of the bathroom and headed into the kitchen to make breakfast.
"Something from yesterday hasn't settled in my chest," Si-Hun whispered to Kuro, his voice low.
He picked up a glass of milk and drank it in one go.
"Agh."
After having breakfast, he sat down on the couch, head low, elbows on his knees.
Just then, Si-Hun's phone rang again.
Si-Hun picked it up, face tense.
It was…Arthur.
"Hello, young man…"
"Oh, hey…Arthur."
"I needed to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"Sorry, young man…but you can't come today either…"
"Not today…again?"
"Yeah…I think you shouldn't leave the house very often."
"It's…alright."
"No…it isn't. Beware of your own shadow….you never know if it's following you or not."
"He's being strange…"
"Arthur…"
"I'll…get going, young man."
Arthur, on the other side, was sitting in his shop.
"I'm sure Minjun will come after me after he knows about the truth…Si-Hun would survive…These police matters are really in my understanding now. My own son taught me to deal with something I never expected would help me long after he's gone." Arthur whispered to himself, voice low and weak.
Si-Hun was in his house, leaving for the day's raid.
[Police Station]
Minjun was in his office when Baek Hyeon came in.
"Still drunk?" Minjun said.
"Haha, the alcohol's off now." He replied.
Minjun leaned back.
"So, what's the deal today?"
"Baek Hyeon…When I went to that old man yesterday, he told me about someone else who can be suspicious. I'm not sure if it's true, but I can't miss anything…so…I'm gonna have to find out this guy. He also told me that this Si-Hun is a novis and that he's only involved in street fights. He claimed that he's not dangerous and not really tied to any murder shit…But, I can't believe him until I witness it, or you, witness it. That's why I need you to go undercover to a raid with this guy, Si-Hun, and observe him fight. You're trained. If he's not dangerous, you can see it. If he is, you know what to do," Minjun said to Baek Hyeon.
"You want me to go undercover as a new member in his predators' team?"
"Yes."
"I…will, but when?"
"I know that he has two raids per day…He probably went on the day's raid today. This leaves the night raid team, the one with Yu-Jun, left to go. Plus, you have Yu-Jun there. He's our trusted spy."
"Right…perfect. Let's lock this guy in," Baek Hyeon said, smiling.
"Thanks…I'll find out about this guy in the meantime."
"Great."
"Thanks, Minjun. I…appreciate it, really. It's nice having a friend and a co-worker like you. We will solve this case together!" Minjun said as he got up and patted Baek Hyeon's shoulder, and gave him a quick hug before leaving.
"Got you, man. Let's get through this together…I'll support you," Baek Hyeon whispered, voice low but grateful.
Minjun looked down, smiled a little, and left.
Baek Hyeon was actually his childhood friend.
The one guy who was with him through thick and thin.
Minjun hadn't always been this cold.
When he was 12, he lost his parents.
From then on, his older brother was the one who brought him up.
He was miserable for days. During that time, Baek Hyeon was with him, as a best friend and a brother as well.
Minjun's older brother was a government agent as well.
His upbringing influenced Minjun.
He lived up to his brother's footsteps.
His brother was a person who valued his work, but valued the right path too.
Minjun started to dig in about that guy.
He was called "Nam Gun-Woo.''
Baek Hyeon went to Si-Hun's portal raid.
It was 4:45 in the evening.
Si-Hun was at the site after him.
His eyes instantly darted towards this "new guy."
He hadn't seen Baek Hyeon before, as Minjun was the cop he dealt with.
"Another new member?" He muttered to himself and sighed.
Just then, Yu-Jun came to him.
"Hey, sup?"
"Hey…nothing."
They entered the portal, not talking further.
The portal had a really mystic energy, as if something was coming before they knew it.
Yu-Jun was also not pushy today.
Si-Hun found his unusual behaviour strange.
'Weird he's not being pushy today…" Si-Hun muttered to himself.
"He's unpredictable as hell," Kuro responded.
As they walked, Si-Hun would subtly catch Baek Hyeon glancing at him randomly.
Yu-Jun saw Baek Hyeon and instantly recognized that face.
"What's he doing here…?" Yu-Jun muttered.
"I have to execute it today…it's been long now…" He whispered to himself.
The dungeons usually had many pathways, but the boss room always stood out.
Si-Hun killed a small monster as he saw it charging at him in one swift move, precise as always.
"It's empty in my heart today…Arthur's words gave me unease…" Si-Hun said to Kuro.
Kuro seemed visibly tense this time.
Si-Hun was with everyone else, but as always, he stayed out of the boss's chamber.
He was always only called when the predators needed a hand.
Yu-Jun, who was a higher rank than Si-Hun and mostly contributed towards the boss fight, also…didn't go today.
No one could even see him.
It was like he randomly disappeared.
"Where the hell did he go…he was here just now," Si-Hun said.
"Hey! Call this Yu-Jun to help in the boss fight! Where is he gone…does he not want a share of the mana!?" A predator shouted.
"I'll go find him," Si-Hun calmly said as he went to find him.
"This guy didn't just randomly disappear…" Si-Hun said to Kuro.
Si-Hun was quietly walking, trying to find him in such a vast dungeon.
He was not aware of it…but something happened suddenly.
Footsteps…
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
Si-Hun's gaze sharpened instantly, and he slowly turned back.
"I knew I would see you," Si-Hun said, voice dangerously low.
"Well, well…You surely tested my patience."
"And guess what, I will test it again right now. I know who you really are…You failed in your act," Si-Hun said to the anonymous.
"I knew it before someone even told me about the REAL Yu-Jun's death…You thought I wouldn't notice? Haha," Si-Hun scoffed.
Yu-Jun's smirk dropped.
"What good to an entity then?" Yu-Jun whispered, voice low in disbelief.
"You came as a face of someone who already died…because of YOU. You caused an innocent death."
"Oh yeah? Didn't that Yu-Jun cause you to almost DIE in that portal? Didn't he make your life miserable? Didn't anyone leave you to die alone in that portal after you risked your own life to save theirs…all because of a single mistake?"
Si-Hun's eyes were emotionless, nevertheless.
"That gave me a path I never regretted choosing."
Yu-Jun scoffed.
"Well…take this to snap you back in your senses!" Yu-Jun said as he ran towards Si-Hun and summoned a sword in his hand.
Si-Hun also had the sword Arthur had given him.
"It won that knight many victories when his king gave it to him…My mentor gave it to me as a knight…Now, I shall fight like one." Si-Hun thought as he immediately held it as his shield
Yu-Jun's sword clicked with his, the sound echoing through the whole portal.
No one even noticed that in between all this drama, Baek Hyeon was standing there, witnessing everything, wide-eyed.
"It…can't be… He played with us, Yu-Jun…he pretended to be a spy when in reality he was the one we were working so hard to find. The culprit was in front of our eyes the whole time…" He muttered, voice careful not get into anyone's ears.
Si-Hun freed his sword and struck it against Yu-Jun's.
Yu-Jun did the same.
Their feet moved in a constant rhythm, turning, backing, slipping.
Their eyes were sharp, concentrated.
The sound of metal clicking was loud and sharp.
"I've…I've found out the truth…" Baek Hyeon said as he took out his mobile and started to film the whole scene.
Thud…!
The phone slipped from Baek Hyeon's hands as he was overwhelmed to witness such a wrecking thing.
They both stopped.
Baek Hyeon froze.
His breath caught in his throat, sweat dripping from his forehead.
His hands trembled as he looked at them and then towards them both.
"Baek Hyeon?" Si-Hun finally realized he was the police officer who came in that day with Minjun.
"You?" Yu-Jun whispered, voice hoarse.
"You lied to us…You betrayed us," Baek Hyeon said as he finally got up.
"Bake Hyeon…" Yu-Jun murmmuered.
Si-Hun stood there, eyebrows slightly raised.
"We trusted you, we thought you would help us with this case when all you did was stab us in the back…Just because you wanted to benefit from this whole spy thing!" Baek Hyeon said, voice rising.
Yu-Jun stood there, head slightly tilted, eyes still lacking emotion.
How much could an entity even feel?
It wasn't meant to show mercy, even on its allies.
"You saw what you shouldn't have…" Yu-Jun said as he took a few steps towards Baek Hyeon.
"Fu*k you." Bake Hyeon whispered.
Yu-Jun clenched his jaw and raised his sword.
"Don't!" Si-Hun said and quickly ran towards him to stop.
"Too late." Yu-Jun didn't wait a second before stabbing the sword in Baek Hyeon's stomach.
Baek Hyeonlet out a low growl and held onto his stomach.
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO!?" Si-Hun said as he held Baek Hyeon's arm.
Baek Hyeon spat a lot of blood at once as Yu-Jun took out his sword from his stomach.
Blood splattered all over the area.
"Breathe!" Si-Hun quickly said.
"I…failed to support him…"
Bake Hyeon said as his breath hitched.
"He has already lost so much blood…He would survive…" Si-Hun whispered.
"Tell him that I… that I found out the truth…for him." Baek Hyeon said as he fell back, his back hitting the wall.
Si-Hun immediately crouched to his level.
"He's…gone…'' Si-Hun whispered, voice breaking.
"You…you killed him…"
"I did," Yu-Jun said as he scoffed mockingly.
Kuro was standing there, head low, eyes hard.
"He had to go through this."
Si-Hun got up slowly.
His grip on his sword tightened as he raised his head and stared into Yu-Jun's eyes.
"You shall pay for your betrayal…He didn't lose." Si-Hun's voice came out rough.
He took a few steps forward and stabbed Yu-Jun just like he did to Baek Hyeon, sudden and merciless.
Yu-Jun stumbled back, holding his stomach.
"YOU BITC-
Yu-Jun was cut off by Si-Hun as he used his titan's wave.
"TITAN'S WAVE!" Si-Hun chanted.
In an instant, Yu-Jun fell back.
"Lightning strike!" Si-Hun said as the lightning fell on Yu-Jun out of nowhere.
Yu-Jun wasn't over yet…He got up again.
"You wouldn't back off easy, would you?" Si-Hun muttered.
Si-Hun then held his sword and charged towards Yu-Jun with his flash.
Yu-Jun responded late to his attack, and the sword tore through his ribs, that same dark liquid splattering on the ground.
Si-Hun didn't stop there; he used the skull crusher and crushed this entity's skull.
Even then…he got up, steps slow but stubborn.
"YOU'RE GOING TO KILL ME NOW? ALL THAT TIME I SPENT WITH YOU IS WASTED FOR NOTHING!?" Yu-Jun said, voice tearing out of him.
His head was brutally squished, and blood splattered on his face.
The ground shook with Si-Hun's presence.
Si-Hun stopped there and just saw him coming towards him before taking the revolver from his waistband and pointing it towards Yu-Jun's head.
He shot on his head…one time, second time, third time.
He shot at both his shoulders until he fell at his feet.
Si-Hun bent down to see his face, quiet authority visible on his face.
"You killed an innocent man. You deserve something equally horrible." Si-Hun said.
"YOU THINK YOU WON…THINK TWICE, BASTARD! I TOOK AWAY SOMEONE PRECIOUS TO YOU! I WON, SI-HUN...HAHAHA…I WON!"
Yu-Jun died right there, and his body faded to ashes.
Si-Hun stared at him..."He's an entity...?" Shock swallowed him with something else coming.
"Precious?"
By this time, because of all the noise of guns and everything, all of the predators came running back there.
When they saw what happened, they saw Baek Hyeon's lifeless body lying there on the ground.
"What happened here?" Their leader spoke, eyes wide.
Si-Hun didn't say anything, just looked down.
"I ASKED WHAT HAPPENED HERE!?" He shouted. Still…no response from his side.
One of the predators quickly got outside and called for the police and authorities.
The news was reported to the police.
The nearest police station was the one Minjun was in, but right now, he was involved in his investigation, and by now, he had found out about the truth as well.
Just then, his phone rang.
"What!?" He said.
"Sir…Officer Baek Hyeon…he…he died." The officer on the other line spoke.
Minjun's breathing stopped.
"…What?" He asked the same question again, his voice low this time, with a chuckle escaping his mouth hoping what he was hearing was a harmless joke.
"He was found dead near this guy, Han Si-Hun. Our officers have taken him as a suspect for murder. They say he's really strong as of now."
"Strong?" Minjun said.
"Yes."
Minjun hung up the phone with trembling fingers.
"You lied to me…Arthur…You said he was a normal guy…YOU LIED!" Minjun said, his eyes a little glossy as he picked his car's keys and fled to Arthur's shop.
