Chapter 400 - Chapter 368: Corpse Resurrection

At the same time, Bo Bo started as well. He approached another corpse, and the mouth of the dead mage protruded like that of a crocodile. Bo Bo didn't even need to take out a magnifying glass; the corpse was already magnified.

Albella's magic hit the corpse and caused a reaction, and more intestines spilled out.

If before it looked like a bare red tree trunk, now it resembled a giant cauliflower.

"Tsk, can I smoke in here?" she turned and asked the Human Bat, who replied there was nothing flammable here, so he courteously invited her to go ahead.

Albella lit a cigarette, quietly watching the corpse in front of her change, from the start, to intense, and then to stillness.

She nodded, casually flicking her ash.

"I sort of understand now. These corpses show signs similar to Hell's decay, but there's also something different." She used her high heel to kick the intestines that had reached her feet: "This is a kind of alternate dimensional rot, an adaptation of the flesh to external stimuli. You could think of it as a portent, as if these corpses are preparing for the future."

"Corpses? Future?" Su Ming shook his head: "Their future is just the crematorium."

"Ha, of course, but if someone or something intervenes before humanity sends them there, it would be different." Albella smiled at Su Ming, indicating these corpses proved one thing: "Magic in our world is changing, retaliating against its users, starting with other-dimensional energy. I suppose soon, it will involve Hell or Heaven's energy."

Su Ming pondered, reaching out to touch the corpse, and Strangulation quickly gave feedback: 'It can eat, but it's toxic to humans.'

"The more magic inside them, the more their flesh proliferates. They're becoming magic fertilizer." Su Ming offered his theory.

"Agreed, whatever wants to take root in our world must feed on magic." Albella nonchalantly took out a bottle, knowing a big problem awaited, and decided to drink a bit more while she was still alive.

"Ga ga ga ga ga......"

Detective Gorilla tilted his head; he seemed to hear a sound, like it was coming from deep underground.

"Did the keel in the outer hall come loose?"

"No, that metal fixing the keel is Promethium." Diana denied, also drawing her weapon and getting on guard; she heard the sound, too.

While they looked around, the corpse in front of Detective Gorilla suddenly opened its mouth and lunged at his furry face.

Luckily, he was small and ducked in time.

The corpses in the mortuary all started moving. No matter their current forms, they all struggled to climb off the dissecting tables and launched an attack at them.

"This is...unbelievable. They are completely dead on a cellular level." The Human Bat shook his head in disbelief, yet the monster indeed began to move.

"We're a bit far from science now, Doctor." Detective Gorilla also pulled out the Night Blade, though it wasn't like Grud's giant sword. In his hands, the treasure sword seemed a bit too big.

The single-handed sword of the Master of the Dark Night felt like a two-handed giant sword in Bo Bo's hands.

Kirk pulled open the vest under his white coat, revealing a belt lined with test tubes. It was the serum he researched; once injected, he could transform into a formidable bat monster.

However, for Su Ming, though these bizarre things captured his attention, they weren't too difficult to deal with. They still hadn't escaped The Walking Dead concept.

Maybe some unknown magic energy in them was transforming them into something else, but for now, they were just a pile of meat.

Albella took a few steps back, adopting a spectator's stance: "I won't use magic; it'll just make them bigger."

"No need; I've got enough confidence to handle a bunch of living corpses. Besides, these dead warlocks can't use magic now."

Su Ming directly pulled out the Nightfall Greatsword, avoiding any conflict of divine power from Godslayer with these corpses, opting to use pure metal against these monsters.

Diana also drew her weapon, ready to support Su Ming's action: "Bo Bo, watch our back."

"Are you joking? I don't even know if I'm holding the sword correctly!"

Su Ming gave him a quick glance; although Bo Bo was sweating profusely, at least the blade was pointing outwards, indicating no major issues: "If any monsters approach, just stab them."

Bo Bo grimaced wryly: "Fine, I'm being instructed by a sword expert now. Could you hand me a pistol?"

There was really no need for him to be so panicked. Even if Su Ming wasn't present, the combination of the Human Bat and Diana was formidable enough against these living corpses. No matter how strong they were, what use was it if they couldn't fly?

Such an obvious weakness made them incredibly easy to handle.

"Cloak."

Su Ming whispered the word, and it carried him, instantly rushing into the enemy crowd in mid-air.

The height was just right; Su Ming only needed to extend his great sword, which perfectly reached the enemies' throats.

A black beam traced a large plane indoors, cutting across the creatures' bodies. Before the Human Bat's serum took effect, the monsters were already down.

"Aliens are here."

"Aliens are approaching."

"Aliens will devour you."

The heads on the ground repeated these words. After listening briefly, Su Ming lost interest.

He smacked each head flat with the great sword, as if crushing tomatoes on the ground.

"Tch, no demon I know is as bloody as you," Albella quipped from the back of the group with a cigarette dangling from her lips.

"But at least when I entertain guests, there's no roasted whole baby on the table." Su Ming retorted while sheathing the great sword: "Burn these things as soon as possible. Where's Kirk? Get him to clean up the mess!"

Diana quietly put away her weapon. The speed and precision Su Ming displayed earlier were astonishing, and he clearly held back when sparring with her.

Such fast swordsmanship needed no intricate techniques to be difficult to defend against, not to mention the techniques he knew far exceeded those of a regular sword master.

She pointed to the ceiling, where glowing eyes stared from the darkness. The Human Bat hung upside down there.

"The serum made him lose his mind. Now the bat instinct is dominant. I'll call the Black Hawk Squad to clean up the aftermath."

Su Ming made no comment; now there were enough close-combat members in the team. With him and Diana as the vanguard and rearguard, the squad's safety was assured.

The presence of the Human Bat was entirely optional.

Detective Gorilla and Albella served as magic consultants, making this team capable of solving the issues the Magic Realm faced now.

"Albella, what do you think?"

Albella elegantly exhaled a smoke ring, leaning against the wall with her head tilted: "My thoughts? Magic is starting to rot. If it's a tree, the roots are the problem; if it's a fruit, it's the seed; if it's a person, it's the mind."

Bo Bo inspected a corpse on the ground, relying solely on his experience and knowledge: "I agree with Barbie Doll's statement. Magic in our world is rotting from the roots; we need to discuss this with the people governing the Magic Order."

Albella scoffed, spitting to the side: "Magic is inherently chaotic. To impose order on chaos is a path to self-destruction."

Bo Bo uncharacteristically didn't argue back, instead nodding: "You're right, the rules that warlocks use to resolve issues in the Magic Realm should have been abolished long ago."

Without Bo Bo bantering with her, Albella found it uninteresting: "Fine, I'll take you to find Doctor Fate first. If he won't speak, Deathstroke, do you have a way?"

Su Ming squinted, pointing to the Hall of Justice above everyone's head: "With a little preparation, I could make a stone talk. His stone is just a bit harder, that's all."
