Just as Tyr thought, Fenrir was wandering through the Netherworld, searching for possible corpses.
Souls were continuously falling from the sky, making the Netherworld appear as if it were experiencing a black rainstorm. These souls were caught up by an unknown wind, drifting through the air, wailing as they descended to the ground.
But Fenrir does not eat these; souls have no taste, nor can they fill the stomach, and these things are not on its menu.
Fortunately, some people's souls are more closely connected to their bodies, and when they fall into the Netherworld after death, they might bring some flesh along, most commonly a heart, which is the giant wolf's target.
It would swallow these flavorful souls whole and savor them slowly as it chewed.
"Sniff sniff... howl."
Having consumed a soul, though the bloody taste stimulated its mouth, it was still empty afterwards, making it hungrier and unsatisfied.
Its large green eyes, like copper bells, constantly searched about, and its moist nose sniffed the weak scent in the air repeatedly.
Suddenly, it detected a strong scent of blood.
This smell existed almost only in its memory; the scent seemed to carry warmth, carrying moisture, reminiscent of fresh meat.
Following the direction from which the smell came, it began to sprint furiously.
It crossed several hills and leaped over several ravines, and when it saw the source of the scent, it could hardly believe its eyes.
It humanely squatted on the ground, raised its front paws to wipe its eyes, confirming it wasn't mistaken.
The giant wolf's mind could barely comprehend the situation, but what did it see?
Among a pile of rubble, God King Odin, covered in blood, lay face down on the ground, his Eternal Spear fallen from his hand, rolling onto the ground beside him.
Here, several Death Spore Flowers grew, so the golden spear appeared shrouded in black aura.
A substantial smell of blood drowned out the surrounding odors, red blood flowing across the black ground, bright and glaring.
Fenrir edged closer, no signs of trouble, Odin's body was gradually cooling, its nose felt it.
It approached even more, circled Odin's body several times.
The body remained motionless.
Although it felt Odin's body appearing here was somewhat odd, it was merely a beast, even if it bore the mantle of the Twilight of the Gods in legend, it was still a beast.
The temptation of blood and human flesh entirely awakened its beastly nature; in its eyes, this was food, whether it was a God King or not was already irrelevant.
It approached the corpse, first nudging it with its paw, and seeing no reaction, it bit down.
But with this bite, what it assumed to be a corpse dissolved in its mouth, flowing out between its teeth.
Instead, like a mask, it engulfed up, covering its mouth, nose, and face.
From the location of the small black flower Fenrir had noticed earlier, a figure suddenly emerged from the ground, his back and head still appeared like rubble and flowers, but those things flowed in black liquid, transforming into black-and-yellow armor.
Similarly, Odin's body on the ground became black liquid, enveloping the wolf's head, forming a rope that tightly linked the wolf and human.
Only the red cloak seemed dissatisfied, turning black and flying onto the figure's shoulder.
Can't handle Hel head-on, but can Su Ming not handle Fenrir?
In prophecy, Fenrir, after consuming Odin, would have its mouth pried open by some hero and be pierced through the heart by a weapon to die.
Thus, it signifies the wolf has a typical physiological structure, maintaining bodily functions, requiring food, water, oxygen.
And even as powerful as Superman, it needs at least two of the five senses to maintain combat capability.
As a canine, smell is the first sense to be destroyed, followed by surpassing human hearing and vision.
Su Ming first bled profusely himself, since with Self-healing Ability, blood loss was just a minor issue.
Using the bloody scent to lure predators from the Netherworld, canine creatures can smell scents from far away.
Strangulation transformed into an Odin-like balloon, then formed rocks and flowers on the host's surface, after blood was shed, the trap was set.
And when Strangulation hooded Fenrir's head like a mask, extending a rope to Su Ming's hand, the affair was basically over.
Su Ming had arranged everything clearly, Fenrir escaping would be a rare occurrence.
"Godslayer, anchor!"
The golden spear instantly transformed into an anchor, hooking into the ground.
Yet even in such a sudden situation, the effects of oxygen deprivation weren't immediate, Fenrir still struggled endlessly, tossing its head wildly like a rabid dog, dragging Su Ming everywhere.
No wonder it's a creature capable of consuming Odin, the power is immense.
Even with Su Ming, Strangulation, and the cloak, he was still being dragged by the giant wolf, sliding across the ground like surfing.
Su Ming's shoulder struck a boulder, his armor sparked, the soles of his feet crushing stones with every step.
The giant wolf continued its wild run, directionless.
Estimate going out to surf during typhoon weather would be similar, except without vast oceans to admire here, only endless darkness.
Though after returning from DC last time, Su Ming was tired of seawater, he rarely even went to Hawaii these past two years.
Broken rocks flew, dust scattered, several drifting souls were shattered in collisions, yet some still couldn't hold the monster.
"Gin, come down and help me out."
Gin rode the Flying Horse, descending quickly from the black sky; not only did she tug the rope formed by Strangulation forcefully, but the Eight-legged Celestial Horse also bit onto a section.
Odin's steed had considerable strength, combined with the giant wolf's oxygen deprivation, Fenrir finally succumbed and fell to the ground, raising a dust circle.
Strangulation returned to Su Ming, and Godslayer was stored as a curved knife.
Gin wiped her forehead, exhaling deeply, her arms seemed alien.
"Finally caught, this guy is harder to handle than a dragon."
Capturing this creature is just the beginning; the next step is using it to negotiate terms with Hel, though Su Ming needed a moment to catch his breath and let Self-healing Ability take effect.
"You ever kill a dragon?"
Su Ming took off his helmet, sitting on a rock beside Gin, letting Strangulation wipe away the blood on him.
Gin patted the Flying Horse's neck, leaping off, looking at her hands.
"It's a long time ago, we Valkyrie went out together to deal with a giant dragon, fighting for a long while before finally slaying it... but now there are no dragons left on Earth."
Her expression was complex, it seemed she recalled past days.
"Earth still has dragons, whether Flying Dragons or dinosaurs, they're around."
He assured Gin, Earth still housed such creatures; they're distributed in vast underground cavities.
Besides, there are aliens, giant insects, Celestial Gods Group corpses, and various ghostly things.
If you specifically set out to find them, you probably could; Su Ming knew of a dragon skeleton under New York rumored to hold mysterious power.
However, that dragon skeleton was favored by Hand Union, its so-called mysterious power seemed related to ninja techniques?
Different system entirely, Su Ming had no interest in that thing.
"Whereabouts?"
Gin seemed somewhat interested, but her eyes kept falling on the giant wolf lying on the ground.
The wolf should be unconscious, yet even lying sideways, it resembled a small mountain, its four legs like little pillars.
"Below the surface, not in the sewers... later I'll bargain with Hel for your sisters' souls; you can take Ciri with you to hunt dragons, she has a peculiar instinct for where monsters are."
"Actually... Ciri and those witches came from Otherworld, right?"
Gin looked at him with a peculiar expression; she'd always had many questions, though she was embarrassed to ask previously due to keeping secrets.
"That's correct, though Natasha and the others aren't; I rescued them from a spy organization called Leviathan, which might cause us trouble soon, they're infiltrating the United States post-war."
Gin rubbed her chin, though now she lacked a beard, returning to her smooth and beautiful face, making the habitual movement appear slightly confused.
But her eyes retained their usual luster: "Let them try; New York is your New York, Boss."
"New York is just a cover, a large landing spot. My goal isn't a city or a planet." Su Ming laughed, standing up again and putting on his helmet: "Now let's go meet Hel, see if she'd like to exchange for her pet."
