Diana shoved the Lasso of Truth into Oliver's hand and bluntly asked him why Batman went to deal with the Joker first.
But how could Oliver know why?
However, Diana didn't think so; Deathstroke said Green Arrow knew! She even thought it was because Green Arrow could resist the Lasso of Truth's effects. His growth in strength was just too fast.
When she first met Superman and Batman, she also made them hold the Lasso of Truth to tell the truth.
Superman revealed his real name, home address, daily hobbies, pet dog, and social security number.
And when Batman was asked the same questions, he just said, "I am Batman."
In a way, he really didn't lie...
Willpower is such an elusive thing. Even Green Lantern Hero Hal couldn't resist the effects of the Lasso of Truth.
Diana looked at Oliver with newfound respect. Although they were old friends, his current performance was quite impressive; the change was truly significant.
Su Ming didn't clear up this misunderstanding but instead walked toward Constantine, who had a serious expression on his face.
Constantine was kneeling on one knee, fiddling with a small Magic Array while puffing on a cigarette, seemingly communicating with someone.
Most of the time, this scoundrel had a cheeky grin, but once he got serious, there were very few warlocks in the DC World who could rival him.
Skar is a kind of cheap cigarette with a distinctive pungent smell, and amidst the swirling smoke, Su Ming squatted beside him.
"Got it figured out?"
Constantine shrugged, not revealing who his informant was, but instead spat a mouthful of black phlegm to the side with some frustration: "The Justice League always needs me to clean up their mess, but magic isn't omnipotent."
He completely forgot that most of the time, this mutual aid relationship was the opposite of what he said.
Su Ming had no intention of correcting him and slowly exhaled a puff of smoke: "Does Batman know yet?"
"That tremor just now almost made my heart leap out of my throat." Constantine stood up, smoking with a numb expression, but judging by how often he inhaled, it was clear he didn't have a solution either: "Now you should think about who in the Multiverse doesn't know."
That's the truth; that tremor came from the soul level, probably even woke up those in a vegetative state.
"First, let's settle the matter at hand, get Pandora's location, I'll deal with Mad Laugh, and you go help the Justice League." Su Ming gestured in front of him with his cigarette-clad fingers.
"Tch, I won't go help them willingly, they'll have to pay me a big stack of cash, and send a beauty to beg me at least." Zha Kang rolled his eyes.
Su Ming looked at him sympathetically: "You know it, the one coming will only be Zatanna."
"....We'll talk then."
Constantine's expression unchanged, he walked into the Magic Array and began to drag the bodies of the Seven Deadly Sins, stacking the unconscious and sleeping demons together, and then placed the still-chewing Taotie on top.
He then swapped out the offerings, remodeled the Array, and began chanting the spells. His speed in casting the summoning spell wasn't fast either.
Maybe he'd had too much to drink, his chanting sounded a bit slurred, but for an art that demanded precision, perhaps only Constantine could pull it off.
Yes, his summoning spell was an alternative one, just needing to connect with the Hell Plane and relay the message to the designated target's ear.
'I, Constantine, come and bite me!'
It was that simple; all he needed to do was identify himself, and whatever other taunting language he used was unimportant, the target demon would naturally emerge trying to tear him apart.
That's why Constantine's summoning arrays always had a backup, sometimes surrounded by a Purple Light Array, or sometimes it was a Reverse Teleportation Array.
But now, listening to it, Constantine's trash talk was long enough, spewing for nearly half a minute without any repeating syllables.
As flames rose within the Array, the demon that appeared didn't catch Su Ming by surprise.
A smiling old man, with black mud on his feet and holding a cane of civilization in each hand, stood among the flames in the Magic Array.
Black water like smoke flowed from his pant legs, instantly drowning the Array, and the blood-forged Array on the ground sputtered a few sparks before being shattered.
The old man tilted his head, a hint of mockery flickering in his pitch-black eyes.
"Tsk tsk, isn't this the gambler Constantine? What's up? Missing my noble demeanor already?"
Constantine let out a sigh; if he could help it, he really didn't want to contact Satan. This old guy was certainly not as harmless as he seemed.
In the past, if not for his own cleverness, he didn't know how many times his soul would have been taken by the other.
But times change; he wasn't familiar with Maggie Ken or Izuna, and he didn't want to contact Other-dimensional Demon Kings like the Three Palaces or Neilong. After thinking it through, Satan was indeed the most suitable.
Constantine waved with a grin, "Just lucky on my side."
"No worries, I sensed you were cheating back then, and the fact that I didn't expose you means I was happy to see it happen." Satan gently raised his aged, wrinkled hand and walked toward them, "The more deception you create, the more valuable your soul is, I can wait."
"If you treat me as a tonic, you're unlikely to get a taste, because I'm destined for Heaven after death." Constantine said with a carefree smile.
Satan continued to smile and shook his head, looking determinedly at him, "Heaven has turned into a cesspool now, the lunatic angels won't let you have a photo souvenir, the Multiverse has at most one month left, have you prepared your last words?"
"The heir of my legacy is certainly not you." Constantine raised an eyebrow and exhaled a puff of smoke, "Though it sounds like you've already found an escape?"
Satan stood in front of them, looking up with a smile at Constantine, "Ah, that's a trade secret, but you're right, I do have a way out."
Constantine stared at him, his smile gradually fading, "Sea of Darkness, right?"
Satan just smiled silently, casting a deep glance at Constantine.
He brought it up, naturally not hoping Constantine would foolishly go down with the Multiverse; that rotten soul can only be his.
If one wanted to avoid Multiverse Level reshaping, only a few places could do it—perhaps Heaven, Sea of Darkness, or Divine Speed Plane.
Other places, including Spirit Thin Prison and Hell, Pocket Dimension, and Sub-plane, would face complete destruction.
As long as Constantine survived, in the newborn cosmos, Satan could seize his soul and successfully make a comeback—it's like a fixed deposit.
Even if he couldn't get his soul, Constantine would still screw over his so-called 'friends', delivering their souls over time, which works too.
So amidst the possible world reboot, letting Constantine live with an especially filthy soul aligns more with Satan's interest; he doesn't mind giving this human a little hint.
So Satan turned his gaze to Su Ming; he wasn't deceived by Zorro's appearance and directly recognized Deathstroke, speaking with a mocking smile, "You're here too, young man. I was well cared for in our last transaction."
"Please put my tab in his name." Su Ming flipped his hand, pointing to Zha Kang next to him, "He taught me back then."
"Hey!" Constantine interrupted helplessly; while he wasn't worried about more debt, this blame wasn't part of the transaction.
Satan, however, wasn't deceived; he smiled and slightly shook his head, "My subordinates have been watching you recently; you're quite interesting. But when the Multiverse is destroyed, the big guy you sent to Hell will surely die, and then I will come to you with the contract."
"Who can say? Perhaps I'll vanish into thin air before Multiverse destruction." Su Ming shrugged with a smile.
During Barbatos's last invasion, the Tyrant was handed to Satan by Su Ming, now likely in his Hell, and Satan has never ceased attempts to kill him.
Satan didn't plan to bicker; he simply nodded to show understanding, then turned back towards Constantine, ignoring Green Arrow and Wonder Woman.
Their souls were too noble, holding no value for demons.
"Alright, scumbag, you didn't call me in the prime of my business just to have dinner?"
"Of course, I want to negotiate a deal." Constantine pointed to the Seven Deadly Sins, confidently crossing his arms, "You help me grab Pandora, and I'll trade these seven for her, you profit big."
Satan smiled, revealing a mouth full of sharp fangs as he touched the silver threads on his head, "Swapping one for seven is quite lucrative, but what use do I have for these seven? They have no domain of their own, outdated and foolish, despite representing primordial evil, they hold no value for me."
Nowadays, demons play with soul currency systems, focusing on commerce like merchants.
Primordial Demons are more like concept-formed monsters, seeking not souls but emotions or thoughts—things harder to measure.
Apart from providing some meat, Satan sees little value in the Seven Deadly Sins.
Constantine flicked his cigarette away with a smile, ready to showcase his salesmanship again.
"That's true, but they have another kind of value; each represents an emotion. You know what a rainbow signifies, right? There are things us humans can't achieve, but veteran demons like you can."
Satan remained unperturbed, pausing briefly, "Not enough."
"Don't be too greedy; I'm not bound to do business with you." Constantine folded his arms.
"But you approached me first, and I'm not so easily dismissed." Satan responded with a smile, though the darkness was rapidly spreading.
If Satan were to rob him, then he wouldn't be Satan.
Trade is a principle Satan adheres to; even resorting to all means to achieve it, the core remains a transaction.
Zha Kang picked his nose and flicked a bogey with his finger, before wiping his hand on his trench coat, "Then I'll throw in a piece of news for you—Gotham City will soon be filled with despair."
Satan squinted, showing a curious smile, sizing up Zha Kang like he sees him anew, his smile growing.
"Deal."
