Chapter 29 - Press conference

(This is a shit post, not an actual chapter.)

(P.S.- If you're wondering where I've been, I got skill checked by a big, brolic German dude at a comp and ended up spraining my wrist, so I've been taking a break from writing.)

"Miss Miyabi!"

"Lady Hoshimi!"

"Please look over here!"

The flashes of cameras filled the space as the sea of reporters gathered in the city hall made desperate bids for the Void Hunters' attention.

Yet, despite the dizzying combination of epilepsy enducing lights and rabid roars, Hoshimi Miyabi, the Youngest Void Hunter in history, remained unbothered.

Her gaze was utterly calm, more still and tranquil than a Chinese mountain pond.

Seeing the feral crowd and their inability to chill the fuck out, Hoshimi Miyabi gestured towards Yanagi, who was standing off to the side, signalling to her that she needed a quick assist.

Yanagi nodded and briskly walked over to a nearby microphone stand and cleared her throat.

"ALL OF YOU! STOP SHOUTING LIKE A BUNCH OF MONKEYS AND SIT PATIENTLY FOR MISS MIYABI TO CALL ON YOU!" She said calmly. "BE GRATEFUL THAT YOU WERE EVEN GIVEN AN AUDIENCE WITH OUR SECTION CHIEF!!"

The hall quickly quieted down as Yanagi's gentle request was met with utter compliance from the sheeple- all of them quietly sitting down in a trance-like state.

"Thank you. Now, if you could please raise your hand if you have a question for our chief, that would be greatly appreciated. I request that you wait patiently until she calls on you and refrain from forgetting your dignity as a sentient being."

Coughing into her fist and letting out a short breath, Yanagi walked away from the microphone and reassumed her place at Miyabi's side with a gentle smile on her face.

One by one, the reporters began to regain their lucidity and hesitantly began raising their hands like a bunch of nervous school children.

Miyabi stared out at the crowd for a moment before pointing at a random person somewhere in the middle of the crowd.

"You. The one with the yellow and red striped starlight knight shirt."

"Y-yes!"

Maybe it was her imposingly tall stature (ears included), or perhaps the waves of sheer motivation emanating from her form, but as soon as he shot to his feet, the reporter fainted like a middle-aged woman at an Elvis concert.

Thud

Miyabi ignored the unconscious man and quickly moved on.

"You. The cat thiren in the black hoodie."

"Ah.... yes. Thank you, Lady Hoshimi..."

This reporter seemed to possess a significantly stronger will than the one who had just fainted, though they were still not able to completely shrug off the aura of the Youngest Void Hunter in history.

With sweat beading at their brows and their heart pounding against their rib cage like a starving African child against a window as they watched an American family eat on Thanksgiving, the reporter barely managed to squeeze out a few words.

"Lady Hoshimi... I, and the folks over at the New Eridu Times, would like to ask your opinion on the recent fraud allegations..."

Miyabi raised an eyebrow.

"Fraud allegations?"

Sheer spiritual pressure rolled off Miyabi's figure like a tidal wave, but the reporter braved the storm that was approaching with every fibre of will they could muster.

"... Yes! As of patch 2.6, you've fallen to tier 0.5 on Prydwen's ZZZ tierlist- replaced by Ye Shunguang, who has immediately ascended to tier 0 upon her release."

Miyabi's response came instantly.

"Skill issue."

"But-"

"You lack motivation, scrub."

Hoshimi Miyabi remained unbothered as the reporter was lobotomized by her aura.

"Next. You- the woman with the blue duck shirt."

"T-thank you, Lady Miyabi!"

A stern-faced reporter stood up with great difficulty, her pupils trembling as she was forced to look up at Miyabi's imposing form (ears included).

"I'm with the eriduiean paper, and I would like to ask how you would respond to the claim that Yidhari has taken your place as the best Ice Dps in the current meta?"

Miyabi's eyes lingered on the reporter's figure for a brief moment, but her gaze was so heavy that the reporter started sweating at a rate of 240ml/hr with a stink multiplier of 3.9x.

"Rupture shill. Cope."

The reporter exploded.

"Next... You- the bear thiren with the bright red shirt."

"YES, LADY MIYABI!!!!"

Maybe it was because they were nervous, but their voice came out as more of a roar than actual dialogue.

"WHAT IS YOUR REACTION TO THE RECENT END GAME CONTENT AND THE STATE OF ANOMALY??"

"Devs are holding me back to allow other units to be able to compete. As soon as I get better supports, these frauds won't even be comparable."

The Bear Thiren fainted from her aura like the first man.

"Moving on... You- the basement dweller with the fedora."

"Yesh...! Fank yew 4 kawlin on mwe."

The discord moderator adjacent fellow shat his pants as Miyabi's absolute chadness overwhelmed his senses.

Seeing this, the kind and managomous Hoshimi Miyabi mercifully retracted 99.9995% of her aura- though the discord moderator was still reduced to a stuttering mess.

"W-what do you t-think about the claim t-that you're no longer a-able to keep up with the other Void Hunter level characters...?"

This question actually forced Miyabi to think for a moment.

"If I'm facing a boss from patch 2x, they get a bit close to my level..."

"B-but, would you lose?"

"Nah, I'd win."

Everyone in the venue disintegrated from sheer peak.
