Anning leaned over. "Sedation should last another hour at least."
"Yeah, well, tell that to him."
Yu Jin's eyes fluttered open. Glassy. Confused. He stared up at me, lips parting, no sound coming out yet. Then the pheromones hit.
Holy shit.
It was like someone cracked open a bottle of pure instinct and poured it into the van. Thick, heavy, overwhelming. Enigma scent full force, dark and electric and demanding. My bond snapped tight in my chest, heat rushing south so fast I had to grip the side of the gurney to stay steady.
Yu Jin whimpered, low and rough, trying to sit up. Tubes tugged at his arms and he panicked, eyes wide, breathing fast.
"Hey, hey, easy," I said, hands on his shoulders, pushing gentle. "You're okay. We're getting you out. You're safe."
He blinked at me, recognition flickering. "Min…?"
"Yeah. It's me. Just breathe, okay? We've got you."
His hand grabbed my wrist hard enough to bruise. "Rin.. where's…"
