Chapter 3 - Recovery

As they walked deeper into the town, Liana gaze noticed a certain building.

Without a word, she started walking towards it, motioning Ser to follow her.

The concrete building was not so large as it consisted of only a single floor.

As they walked inside, the pungent smell of medicine covered both of their nose.

Ser as well as Liana both covered their nose as an attempt to resist the smell. But it did not work well.

Inside there was a small room. A girl sitting at the left behind a wooden table.

On the table, there were some papers and a pen lying.

The girl was a young, green-haired individual who seemed no older than a 20-year-old.

As she took notice of them, she asked.

"Welcome. How may I help you?"

"Hello. I have an appointment with Heath. Is He inside?"

Liana replied in a soft tone.

"Yes. I will inform him right away, Lady Liana. Please wait a moment." The girl said as she walked towards the door and stepped in just opposite from the one Ser and Liana walked in.

After just a few seconds, the door again creaked open as the girl walked in with a smile and said.

"You may go now."

Liana motioned for Ser to follow as she stepped into the next room.

Inside there were many shelves of wooden cupboard which containained many different colored bottles and boxes.

At the middle, a wooden table sat with a chair tucked in.

A man stood near the cupboard to the right, his hand buried in a shelf, rummaging for something unseen.

"It's rare for you to come here." The man said.

He turned to faced them, eyes narrowing slightly.

"So, you are finally my client?"

"Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not your patient." Liana answered, folding her arms just below her chest.

"Oh? Then I assume this young man is." He said, his gaze shifting at Ser.

Liana simply nodded.

Stepping closer, now fully visible, he asked.

"So, who might this young man be, Liana?"

"You could say, He is my son, Heath."

"Hmm... I see." Heath said as his fingers twitched his chin thoughtfully.

Heath was an older man, faint wrinkles tracing his face. His green hair, mixed with few strands of white, was slicked neatly back. A pair of spectacles rested on the bridge of his nose.

Glancing at Ser, he asked with a smile,

"What is your name, young man?"

"Servus."

"Servus? What an odd name." He paused for a brief moment.

And while pulling the chair slightly back from its place, he said,

"Well, no matter. Sit down."

Ser glanced at Liana, uncertain.

Liana nodded at Ser.

Ser, then did as he was told. He sat on the wooden chair.

Heath stood just behind Ser, and lifted his right-hand above Ser's head.

As he closed his eyes, soft green motes of light began to form, swirling gently around Ser's body, illuminating the room further with soft light.

Startled, Ser tried to move, but Heath's calm voice stopped him.

"Don't move, Servus."

"Don't worry, he is just examining your body." Liana said with a gentle smile.

Her tone eased his fear, and Ser sat as the glow pulsed softly.

Moments later, the green light slowly began to fade. Heath opened his eyes and lowered his hands.

"You can move now." Heath said.

Glancing at Liana, He again said.

"There is no particular internal injury, but there is a lot of external ones, especially on his fingers." His voice carried a hint of concern.

Liana nodded, and asked,

"Can you treat his fingers?"

"Yes, I can." Heath answered while nodding.

"Then, do it." Liana replied.

Heath nodded again, and turned to face Ser.

He kneeled in front of him and said,

"Show me your hands, Servus."

Ser obeying, extended his trembling hand close to Heath which had been twitching in pain for forever.

Heath, slowly grabbed both of Ser's hands and said.

"This is going to hurt a bit, try to resist it, alright?"

Ser nodded once.

Slowly, Heath's eyes narrowed in focus and then shut.

Again motes of green light formed, now it just covered Ser's fingers.

Pain grew with each second in Ser's hands, as he slowly started to sweat.

Heath was no better. He began to sweat heavily, as if sharing Ser's pain.

Moments later, the red patches on Ser's fingers started to fade, as Ser's nails started to form.

Pain grew even more, forcing a cry from Ser's lips. He tried to move but he could not. He had to resist it any how.

After a while, As the glow disappeared. Ser's fingers were healed, still tender but no longer broken.

"This is the best I can do." Heath said while rising to his feet, wiping the sweat from his face.

Ser flexed his fingers. The pain lingered faintly, but compared to before, it was nothing.

"As for his other injuries, it will heal overtime."

Heath said while glancing at Liana.

Liana nodded.

"Well, thank you for healing Servus, Heath."

"You are good to go, Servus." Heath said with a polite smile.

Ser stood and, turning towards Heath bowing slightly.

"Thank you."

Heath nodded in return.

"Also," Liana said, her tone shifting slightly "did you get 'that'?"

Heath nodded, as his hand reached for a drawer handle.

He opened it, and pulled out a pouch.

"It's in here." He said, handing it to her.

Liana took it and hooked it to her waist.

"Now, let's be on our way, Ser." Liana said while glancing at Ser.

Ser nodded.

"Be sure to come again." Heath said with a charming grin.

"We will." Liana said as she walked out with Ser.

The bustling chatter of people again filled their ears.

"So, where are we going now?" Ser asked.

"To buy you some clothes." She replied. "Unfortunately, those are the only pair of cloth that I have for you."

Ser nodded, as his steps faded into the murmur of crowd.
