After reaching the Pokemon Center, Miss Joy was already waiting at the entrance, yet Damian and his group were nowhere to be seen. Perhaps they were afraid that Ash would come back and continue to beat them, so they ran away.
Anyway, not seeing them upon returning helped calm Ash's anger a bit. Otherwise, given Charmander's current condition, he would have liked nothing more than to pull Damian up and give him another thrashing!
"Please take care of it, Miss Joy."

Miss Joy took Charmander and went into the operating room with Chansey.
As a roadside Pokemon Center, this place was rather simple, even the building was made out of wood, but the equipment inside was not lacking at all, featuring all the emergency gear available in any Pokemon Center.

After an anxious wait, Miss Joy emerged from the operating room. Facing the slightly worried looks from Ash and the others, her tense face broke into a smile: "Rest assured, Charmander is safe and sound."
"That's wonderful!!"
As it was getting late, the once crowded hall was now only occupied by them. Miss Joy made a shushing gesture to indicate for everyone to keep their voices down.
After all, there were many others who had already fallen asleep in the Pokemon Center.
Seeing Ash and the others cover their mouths, Miss Joy then spoke with a smile: "The treatment this time was so smooth that I can hardly believe it. Initially, Charmander's condition was quite poor, but there was a mysterious force within him that stabilized his state."
"With the help of the medical equipment, and that internal force, Charmander's condition rapidly improved. I feel that even without intervention, Charmander might have made a full recovery due to that force. In all my years as a doctor, this is the first time I've seen anything like it."
Miss Joy expressed her amazement, still feeling shocked about the miraculous scene that occurred with Charmander earlier.
As she mentioned, in all her years as a doctor and within her family of physicians, she had never encountered a case like Charmander's.
Logically, amidst such a downpour, Charmander's weak condition should have worsened, and given its low level, the rain's effect should have been more severe.
Yet, under these circumstances, Charmander's condition remained stable and continued to improve. Perhaps this Charmander's constitution far surpassed that of an ordinary Charmander, or there might be something special within its body…
However, investigating these matters wasn't Miss Joy's focus. Though curious, she was just a doctor, and Charmander's recovery was more important than anything else.
Ash and the others, hearing Miss Joy's words, also relaxed their expressions, letting out a big sigh of relief.
The reason for Charmander's condition was likely something only they knew.
The effect of the Rainbow Wing was stronger than expected. The feather left behind by Ho-Oh not only enhanced the power of Fire Type Pokemon but also bestowed immense life force, enabling Charmander to cross this hurdle smoothly.
"Ash, did you actively fuse the Rainbow Wing into Charmander?" Misty whispered after Miss Joy left.
Ash shook his head: "It wasn't me. The Rainbow Wing fused on its own. I don't know why. Obviously, nothing like that happened with Butterfree and Pidgeotto."
