Just now, Alakazam's series of moves were not directed by Sabrina, except for the initial Teleport; the subsequent skills were used by Alakazam itself.
Upon seeing Gengar transform into Tyranitar, Alakazam immediately used a Grass Type Energy Ball. Clearly, it had anticipated Gengar's action.
But it is not possible for Alakazam to act independently; there must be instructions from Sabrina.
A powerful Trainer like Sabrina wouldn't let her Pokemon act out of command or attack randomly, so Alakazam's attacks must have Sabrina's directive.
Yet Sabrina didn't speak, so there is only one answer... Sabrina is using Telepathy!
"The Pokemon is tricky, and so is the Trainer. This Gym is indeed tough!" Ash exclaimed as he mobilized his internal Aura Power.
It was you who started it!
"Gengar, Taunt!"
The most troublesome thing about Psychic Type Pokemon is the variability of their moves. Up till now, Alakazam has only used Teleport, but if it uses Light Screen, Reflect, Ally Switch, Nasty Plot, and other such skills next, that would be the real headache.
So what Ash needs to do now is to seal the opponent's skills. Without those troublesome transformative skills, in a head-to-head battle, Gengar will not lose!
"Teleport." Sabrina's calm and steady voice prompted Alakazam to vanish from its original spot, its silhouette flickering constantly on the field.
At such a rate of Teleportation, Taunt can hardly lock onto the opponent.
While Gengar was desperately chasing Alakazam's silhouette, Alakazam could seize the opportunity to counterattack, thereby inflicting damage on Gengar.
But... all of this presupposes Ash isn't there!
To play these transformation and distraction skills in front of an Aura Power wielder? You've picked the wrong person!
"Front left, Taunt!"
As Ash's voice fell, Gengar unhesitatingly made a beckoning gesture toward the front left.
The moment the beckoning gesture was made, all of Alakazam's transformation skills were instantly sealed!
In the face of Ash's Aura Power, all misleading moves are exposed!
Initially teleporting, Alakazam suddenly froze in the direction baited by Gengar's Taunt.
Seeing this, a hint of surprise appeared on Sabrina's face. Was Alakazam's rapid Teleportation spotted by the opponent?
Subsequently, Sabrina's gaze turned towards Ash, a knowing look emerging in her beautiful eyes.
So, it's the same ability as hers?
Next, it won't just be a battle between Pokemon, but between Trainers as well.
"Now, Gengar, Night Shade!"
The damage of Night Shade increases with level, and with Gengar's current Elite Advanced level, its Night Shade is, in no way, inferior to Shadow Ball and can even partially bypass the opponent's defenses!
As long as it hits, the damage can be quite significant!
(In reality, Dragon Rage is regarded as a formidable move, so Night Shade, similar to Dragon Rage, is set up similarly. In the Journey, Ash also employs Night Shade as Gengar's main attacking skill.)
Gengar's crimson eyes suddenly emitted light as dark as ink, the evil energy-filled beam slicing through the void, rushing toward Alakazam!
Sabrina's beautiful eyes flashed blue, and the next moment, Alakazam's body let out a muffled sound!
"Teleport."
The icy voice echoed, and Alakazam once again disappeared before Gengar, leaving Night Shade to miss!
Ash: ???
No way, what's going on? I used Taunt, yet you can still Teleport? Are you kidding me?
This really exceeded Ash's cognition a bit, but the opponent's position was still precisely tracked by Ash's Aura, so...
"Gengar, change direction, behind you!"
"Got it!" Gengar grinned, swiftly turning its body, adjusting the direction of Night Shade with its movement!
The dark beam as black as ink surged toward the direction pointed by Ash!
The next instant, Alakazam appeared mid-air, only to be met by a powerful black beam.
"Boom!!"
Night Shade hit, a huge cloud of smoke erupted in the air, and a golden figure fell out of the smoke, crashing to the ground.
Despite not knowing why the Taunt was broken, Night Shade still hit Alakazam solidly!
This dealt a considerable amount of damage to Alakazam.
"What's going on? Didn't Gengar use Taunt? Why can Alakazam still use Teleport?" Misty asked puzzled from behind.
Unless the Pokemon is called back, under the effect of Taunt, Pokemon shouldn't be able to use transformation skills. Even a Psychic Type should be no exception!
"It might have something to do with Sabrina. Sabrina, being a Superpower User, possesses some unique abilities that normal superpowers don't. Perhaps she assisted Alakazam in breaking through the limitations of Taunt,"
Brock speculated thoughtfully, rubbing his chin.
Not even an Elite Level Pokemon, or even Champion-level ones, can escape the seal of Taunt on transformation skills.
Alakazam's ability to use Teleport could very well be influenced by external forces. Ash might not have noticed, but he did—Sabrina's eyes glowed with blue light.
