Chapter 288 - Chapter 169: Inverted Gardevoir—So Devious! Ash's Credibility Score

The two types of Pokemon may be able to use the Reversal skill, but their racial abilities are not strong, you might even say they are a bit trashy.

Additionally, these two types have rarely produced any powerful examples; at least, no Celestial King Champion holds a Malamar or Grapploct.

So the Reversal skill on these two Pokemon is actually not that great.

But on a Gardevoir, it's disgustingly powerful! Really disgusting!

As a Psychic Type Pokemon, Gardevoir already has a variety of skills, and now it even has the Reversal skill. Moreover, this information is definitely impossible for others to know.

After all, who would expect a Gardevoir to use Reversal? That's just nonsense!

You can imagine how many people will be tricked by this Gardevoir in the future; isn't it sneaky?!

Upon hearing the effect of the Reversal skill, Misty and the others gave Ash and the Gardevoir strange looks. So, these two were playing so dirty on the field just now!

"Ahem, why are you looking at me like that? My Gardevoir learned Reversal through its own skills, why shouldn't it use it?"

"Garde~~" Gardevoir elegantly nodded in agreement.

In battle, any means are justified; winning is the ultimate goal.

"Alright, alright, I know you have a tactical advantage. Now, the final question, why can your Gardevoir use Psystrike? That's not a move that can be learned from the outside." Blaine asked the final question with a serious expression.

To learn moves, besides using a Move Disc, the basic way is to observe other Pokemon using the move, then slowly ponder and learn.

But the skill Psystrike, Ash and the others couldn't possibly have seen it. Otherwise, they wouldn't be standing here intact now.

"Psystrike? Is that the name of the move Gardevoir used at the last moment?" Ash recalled Blaine blurting out Psystrike and confirmed.

Blaine nodded.

"That skill was something Gardevoir suddenly learned out of nowhere. Maybe the pressure from Ninetales was too much, so Gardevoir obtained the method to use this skill from deep within its genes. This skill... is Mewtwo's unique skill, right?"

Blaine nodded again with a complicated look: "That's right, it's Mewtwo's exclusive skill, capable of combining illusion and reality, an incredibly powerful super move."

"Combining illusion and reality?"

"Yes, it deals physical damage using Special Attack, and the move itself also impacts the target mentally. Mewtwo once used this move to destroy an entire island. The surviving researchers on the island eventually became mentally deranged."

Recalling the scene, Blaine shuddered slightly. That violent and terrifying Pokemon, for what reason did he create such a creature? Just thinking about it feels wrong.

He was like he was enchanted back then, determined to create Mewtwo no matter what.

Even the higher-ups wouldn't lose their minds to that extent, right?

If he were his current self, he definitely wouldn't engage in such research. Not to mention that cloning Pokemon is outside the bounds of normal ethics, using the Mew Gene to create Pokemon crosses into the realm of divine taboos.

Anyone with a reverence for the divine wouldn't do such things. Blaine considers himself capable of such feelings, so why did he do it back then...?

"Destroyed an island?" Gary's pupils contracted as he exclaimed.

He had finally grasped something from the conversation: that Pokemon called Mewtwo actually destroyed an entire island, and there were even people on it!

What kind of Pokemon is that!

"Mewtwo is extremely violent. It seemed to embody destruction from the moment it was born. Its existence itself is synonymous with destruction. Besides destroying an island, it has committed many other wicked acts, which is why I deeply regret creating such a creature."

Blaine's face showed remorse once more. Countless times, he was jolted awake in his sleep, regretting why he created such a monster.

Aside from violence, destruction, and ruin, that thing has no value and only brings fear and chaos to the world.

If he hadn't mended the fence after the sheep had been lost and stolen Mewtwo's mental source, Mewtwo might have grown to an incomparable height by now.

The saying goes—without a god to rival, who could match!

"Is Mewtwo really that terrifying?" Ash asked after a moment of silence.

"Its presence is even more exaggerated than what I described," Blaine replied with a low voice.

"But... it couldn't have been like that from birth, right?" Ash looked at Gardevoir beside him, his eyes full of gentleness and a trace of confusion.

"Gardevoir was also injected with Mew's genes, but she was very cute when she was young and never naughty, very gentle and kind as she grew up. Apart from being decisive in battles, she is like the big sister who takes care of everyone the most in the team."

"If Mewtwo was created with Mew's genes too, why did it become the violent being you described, Blaine? Isn't it possible that external factors influenced it?"

"A Pokemon is a blank slate; the fundamental reason for its color is the Trainer and its environment. Even with Gyarados, if it follows a gentle Trainer, it will also be a gentle Gyarados."

Ash's words left Blaine dumbfounded; he had never considered such a perspective.

The stereotype left by Mewtwo made him firmly believe that such a Pokemon shouldn't exist in the world. His greatest mistake in life was creating a monster like Mewtwo.

But Ash seemed to have a different view; he didn't believe Mewtwo was born that way but felt that the instigator of Mewtwo becoming the way it is was Team Rocket!

This novel perspective seemed to open a new door to the world for Blaine.

"Gardevoir can understand people's hearts. As a powerful Psychic Type Pokemon, Mewtwo should be able to do so as well."

"Did Mewtwo's violent and destructive nature, as you described it Blaine, result from seeing into the hearts of everyone around and thinking the world should be like that?"

Ash posed another soul-searching question, leaving Blaine in deep doubt once again.

Could it be... he had misunderstood Mewtwo all along?

The atmosphere was silent for a moment before Blaine shook his head and slowly spoke: "No matter the reason, the things Mewtwo did were witnessed by me. Whether it was a misunderstanding or manipulation, Mewtwo is now an entirely evil Pokemon."

"I disagree with your view. If it became like this through surviving in the wild, one could say it had a naturally violent nature, but if it turned out this way through human guidance... then I will use every means possible to bring Mewtwo back on the right path!" Ash looked at Blaine and declared firmly.

Ash's resolute words echoed in Blaine's ears. Blaine seemed to be flooded with numerous thoughts, but they finally condensed into a sigh: "Let's hope so. I'm too old to deal with Mewtwo's issues now. If you encounter it, be careful and don't let your benevolence and the so-called redemption make you abandon even the hope of escaping."

Seeing Ash like this, Blaine knew he couldn't persuade him. He could only leave a warning for Ash, hoping he wouldn't cause the demise of all due to his naive ideas.

"Don't worry, everything is within my control!"

"Hope so." Blaine didn't take Ash's words seriously. Even if Ash could punch through a Magmar, the gap between him and Mewtwo seemed enormous.

Little did he know... Ash's credibility score was full! When he says it's under control, it really is under control.
