Chapter 163 - Vik's situation

At the end of the massacre, Gullnor was taken by an arrow that pierced his dragon spine and promised to return him to the mortal plane to be buried in the backyard of his mountain. Following that, a bloodbath unfolded in the territory of the four-clawed dragon clan. In the immortal realm, that day, no one in the clan survived, but the most shocking part was that no one knew who was responsible.

At the same time, something destroyed the barrier that trapped the mortal realm. No one knew who did it either. Immortal realm seers speculated that the mortal realm is complex and that the four-clawed dragon clan must have offended a powerful entity hiding there, which took them out overnight. The seers believed that this person's power was at least that of an immortal king since they destroyed a barrier created by several immortal lords. Rumors spread through the immortal realm that the mortal plane is a dangerous place with hidden powers lurking.

Meanwhile, in the blue star world, Vik was sleeping soundly. His disciple Lina found him unconscious at the door of his mansion and noticed Pushpa meowing loudly to get her attention. Concerned for her master's health, she took Vik back to his room. Now that the dragon Gullnor had left, the environment improved. The corrosive black miasma vanished, and the thunderclouds in the sky started to clear.

The citizens of Azure Mountain City didn't understand the cause of all this extreme weather; to them, it seemed like a cyclone or typhoon had struck. As things calmed, they prepared to return to their daily lives and repair the damage done to the city. The authorities were surprised by these events. They had already begun evacuating citizens through air and ground transport to other cities after receiving warnings of a dangerous threat in Azure Mountain. The higher-ups knew little but reported that an S-rank beast had appeared there.

Vik's disciples, Lu Xiaoran and Roman, sat in front of a bed where Vik was sleeping deeply. Lina sat behind them, while Sherry, Layla, and Lu Ran watched from a distance. Vik was breathing steadily, and his cute cat Pushpa dozed on his chest. The disciples tried to remove Pushpa so they wouldn't disturb Vik, but the system, communicating through their watches, told them Vik was fine and just needed rest after his fight with Gullnor.

Still, they worried about the situation. The system reassured them that Gullnor had fled and wouldn't return soon. As for the Lin family, they were being held captive by Louriel, who sought information from them. She had gone to Azure Mountain after Vik's fight to check something, but afterward, no one had seen her. Currently, Winston had taken the Lin family to a safe place to keep them secure and interrogate them.

Vik's disciples had no immediate concerns aside from their sleeping master. As they contemplated how to wake Vik, someone rang the mansion's bell. Lina answered the door and found Louriel and Winston waiting outside. They learned that Louriel came to check on Vik because he wasn't answering her calls. She complained that after contacting him for help, he had forgotten to respond.

They explained Vik's situation to Louriel and Winston, who then entered the room and saw him sleeping peacefully in bed. Louriel, confused, asked, "Why are you all so concerned? He's just sleeping and will wake up after a good dream." Lu Ran and Layla agreed, suggesting they give Vik some time. His disciples understood this, but as they considered leaving him alone, the system's voice cut in through their watches. "According to the most recent search, host Vik is under a curse that has put him in deep sleep."

Louriel frowned, and the others tensed up, especially Vik's disciples. They bombarded the system with questions about Vik's health and how to wake him up. The only answer they received was, "The system cannot wake host Vik."

Angered, his disciples became frantic. Then, the system added, "There is a way, but it is a bit tricky." Lu Xiaoran and the others immediately expressed their willingness to do anything to save their master. The system explained, "There is a lost legend about a sleeping curse. Long ago, a princess cursed by a witch fell under the same curse that host Vik faces."

Louriel frowned when she heard about the sleeping princess. Her system indicated that Vik was fine, but the other system claimed otherwise, creating a paradox. Perhaps there was a curse undetectable by her system, so she let the other system continue the story. Lu Xiaoran quickly asked, "What happened to that princess? Did she survive? How was the curse broken?"

The system replied, "Yes, she survived because of a cure." The disciples eagerly asked for the cure, but Louriel still frowned, doubting the system's claims. The system continued, "The princess woke up after her destined prince kissed her. So, for Vik, his destined princess or love interest must kiss him!"

Before the system could explain further, a loud yawn interrupted the moment as Vik woke up from his bed.

Pov: Vik

I woke up feeling refreshed and yawned loudly. I remembered losing consciousness; my disciples must have placed me in bed. Pushpa lay sleeping on my chest. As I looked around the room, I saw my disciples, Sherry, Layla, Lu Ran, Winston, and Louriel, all gazing at me with various expressions, particularly amused from Louriel.

Confused, I immediately asked the system, "Why are they all looking at me like I'm trying to scam them? What did you do while I was asleep?"

The system didn't directly answer. Instead, it retorted, "Host, you just needed to sleep a little longer. I almost got you a girlfriend."

I tried to ask more, but the system continued. "I'm doing my best to get you to mingle, but it feels like you've sworn to stay single. I can't play matchmaker for you any longer."

"Happy single life!" it added.

"Ding! The title 'Snake of Singularity' has become stronger."

Vik: (*_*)
