The mayor rushed out of his house, greeting Aux and the others with a beaming smile. Looking at the huge monster's head, he was overwhelmed with gratitude.
"Thank you! You are the saviors of our town," the mayor said.
Aux and the others quickly waved their hands. "We were just doing our job."
Despite repeatedly explaining that it was just work, the mayor and the town residents still wanted to thank them. They even planned a party for that evening.
The hospitality was too much to refuse, so Aux and the others could only attend, eating heartily and mingling with the townspeople.
"Mage-sama is so amazing…"
"Come on, have another drink, I'll feed you myself."
"So handsome~"
"Mage-sama must not have a place to rest. How about coming to my house?"
"Come play at my house…"
"..."
Whether it was Aux, Gray, Natsu, or Happy, all were male—so the unmarried young women of the town were especially enthusiastic. The ones crowding around Aux were the prettiest, and their voices were especially sweet.
"You two shouldn't give in to temptation. After all, you're still young," Aux reminded them.
Gray sat up straight, his body tense. The girls beside him kept trying to fill his cup, but he refused them all with a cold expression.
Natsu, however, was not so polite. He didn't distinguish between males or females in his mind; he never refused anyone who fed him meat. His eyes only saw food.
As for Happy, he was completely engrossed in the embrace of a certain "big" girl.
"You're not that much older than us…" Gray retorted.
Aux shrugged. At least he was already eighteen and an adult, while Gray and Natsu hadn't even reached drinking age.
The banquet ended. Aux, Natsu, Gray, and Happy went to the inn to rest. The night passed without a word. The chaste group left early the next morning. When they got off the carriage again, they had already arrived at Magnolia Town. Looking at the bustling streets, it was far beyond what the neighboring town could compare to.
"I'm back~"
"Welcome back~"
Back at the guild, Mirajane greeted them with a smile. "How do you feel, Aux? This was your first job."
Gray interjected, "It was amazing! Aux's Enchantment Magic is unmatched. I want to work with him from now on."
Oh?
Mirajane looked at Gray in surprise; she didn't expect such praise.
Levy asked curiously, "That amazing? Isn't Aux's magic just support?"
Erza was also in the guild at that time.
Hearing Levy's question, she explained, "Aux's support can be the decisive factor. It's hard to explain—you'll understand once you team up with him."
Is that so? To be so highly recommended by both Gray and Erza, Aux's support really must be something special.
"When will you let me see it? Can you conquer me… hic…" Cana, hugging a barrel of wine, spoke drunkenly, her cheeks flushed.
Levy added, "With Erza saying that, even I want to team up."
"Levy-chan~"
"Don't abandon us~"
Levy awkwardly replied, "I won't abandon you; it's just a temporary team-up…"
Other members were also very interested in Aux. Some sent team-up requests, while others wanted to know how powerful his Enchantment Magic truly was. Aux responded to everyone with a smile.
After dealing with the guild members, he returned to the request board. The monster elimination mission had earned them 300,000 jewel. Originally, it was only a little over 200,000, but the mayor rounded it up. After splitting the reward, each of them got 100,000 jewel. It was barely enough to pay rent, and after doing so, they were penniless again.
"Hurry up and choose a request! This time it's my turn to experience the Enchantment Magic—we agreed!" Natsu said excitedly.
Aux retorted, "We just finished a job. Aren't you going to rest for a few days?"
The two froze.
Aux continued, "I plan to go out on my own and find a job, so…"
"Ah… no way… I want Addition…" Natsu immediately shouted.
Gray also felt a bit regretful. He had been hoping for another easy job. But Aux planned to go alone.
"You want Addition, huh? How about swapping bodies with Happy this time?" Aux replied.
Natsu instantly shut his mouth.
"Yes! Yes!" Happy cheered.
"No way!" Natsu fled.
Aux ignored him and continued browsing the request board. He wanted to work alone, so physical combat missions were out. He needed something requiring brains or Enchantment Magic.
"Aux, someone's looking for you outside!"
"I don't know anyone here," Aux muttered. His parents died when he was eight, and he hadn't met any acquaintances during his travels. Who could possibly be looking for him?
Outside stood a hunched old man with a bald head and wrinkled face—so frail he looked like the wind could blow him over.
"It's you?"
Aux recognized him—the old mayor of Lazy Village. Without Aux's magic maintaining him, his body and lifespan had rapidly deteriorated.
"Mage-sama… please, I beg you to return to the village. We will work diligently… we'll cultivate the land properly," the old mayor pleaded hoarsely.
Aux sneered. "There are so many young people in the village, yet you can't farm without magic? What a joke."
The old mayor suddenly knelt. "Please… I just want to live a few more years…"
How ironic. This man only wanted a young body.
"Go away!"
Aux turned to leave.
"No…"
The old mayor pounced, hugging his leg. Resentment flashed in his eyes.
"If you don't help me regain my youth, I'll die here—and everyone will blame your guild!"
Aux stopped coldly. "Although I joined the guild not long ago… I won't let you insult Fairy Tail so casually."
He raised his staff.
"High-Level Addition: Personality Exchange."
[Ding! Detected use of Enchantment Magic. Infinite Addition upgraded to: Personality Exchange Lv. MAX.]
Two beams of light fell—one on the old mayor, one on a nearby dog. The man and the dog exchanged personalities.
The old mayor released Aux's leg, dropped to all fours, and barked, "Woof!" before running away.
The dog tried to stand upright like a human but failed, then fled in panic.
"Ordinary people can only swap personalities for one day. But that's enough to teach you not to come back."
Aux returned to the guild.
