Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Shattering the Sky over New York with a Single Punch

Hawk stared at the sky over Manhattan being torn apart, exposing the infinite black cosmos, and was stunned.

Above Manhattan, a deep blue light shot upwards, continuously streaming into the gap in the sky, as if a space was being opened.

The space torn open in the sky seemed to be violently ripped by an invisible hand, with edges flickering in deep blue light, crackling with energy.

Hawk instinctively cast his gaze upon his right hand.

But…

The next second,

he snapped out of it.

No.

The sky wasn't torn by him, but by the Space Gemstone.

2012.

Chitauri invasion!

Hawk thought of the current timeline, swiftly shifting his gaze back to the torn sky.

Indeed.

As the Space Gate opened above Manhattan, Chitauri Soldiers, like a swarm of metallic locusts, poured out through it as if they were being emptied.

Suddenly pouring out!

Chitauri Soldiers arriving on Earth via the Space Gate rode sleek, cold-glow-emitting single-man aircraft, whose engines buzzed with a nerve-wracking screech, their inhuman bodies tightly encased in dark alloy armor.

Boom!

With the first Chitauri Soldier firing its Energy Weapon, the glass curtain walls of Manhattan's skyscrapers were instantaneously pierced and shattered.

"Whoa!"

"Attack!"

"Invasion, invasion!"

"Kill them!"

Chitauri Soldiers, rushing out, let out excited hisses. After emerging from the wormhole, they quickly determined their respective tasks.

Some Chitauri Soldiers lowered their aircraft and flew towards the streets of Manhattan.

Others raised their aircraft and, after confirming their attack direction in the air, swooped towards Brooklyn.

Of course.

Queens was also within the attack range of Chitauri Soldiers.

"Holy shit!"

"What is that?"

"Aliens invading Earth?"

"They're coming towards us!"

"Geez!"

"God!"

"Run quickly."

"Ah!"

Just like the chaos happening in Manhattan at this moment, the residents of Queens, upon seeing Chitauri who recklessly fired Energy Weapons to pierce high-rises, ignite cars, and kill civilians, let out sharp screams, hurriedly heading toward directions they believed to be safe.

The bizarre cries of Chitauri Soldiers.

The shattering sounds of skyscrapers.

The burning sound of cars being blown up.

The wails of killed civilians, and the panicked screams, at this moment, the entire city of New York was engulfed in a deafening panic.

Standing on the rooftop, Hawk instinctively turned to head back to the apartment.

But…

Just as he turned, he abruptly stopped, seemingly thinking of something, then turned back, gazing at the Chitauri Soldiers roaring towards Queens like locusts.

In the sky, riding a vessel, a Chitauri Soldier who was screeching eerily while coming towards this direction also saw Hawk standing on the rooftop.

After all, to invaders, the sight of helpless citizens screaming and wailing, trying to flee their blades during the invasion is what they love the most.

So, while others were fleeing in panic, only Hawk stood still, becoming hard to miss.

Eyes met.

A star seemed to twinkle in Hawk's bright blue eyes.

"Human!"

Gazing at Hawk, who locked eyes with him, the Chitauri Soldier's eyes, like snake eyes hidden under the dark alloy mask, seemed to receive a signal, breaking away from the troop, and piloted his aircraft to dive down towards Hawk on the rooftop.

The moment he got close, he fired an Energy Bullet.

The destructive energy gathered at the front of the aircraft, instantly formed, and was fired at Hawk.

Watching the rapidly enlarging Energy Bullet in his sight, Hawk's pupils constricted.

Boom!

The Energy Bullet smashed into the rooftop, instantly shattering the surface, unleashing a loud blast while dust erupted.

The Chitauri Soldier, seeing Hawk leaving the moment the Energy Bullet landed, reappearing elsewhere unscathed, emotionlessly pulled the trigger again.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

"Boom, boom, boom!"

The rooftop of the apartment seemed to have greeted doomsday, bombarded and blasted by the Chitauri Soldier's Energy Bullets.

Fragments splintered.

Dust enveloped the sky.

Hawk's figure continually darted back and forth in the dust, dodging the successive Energy Bullets from the Chitauri Soldiers.

His silhouette quickly shifted under the Chitauri Soldier's Energy Bullets.

Initially, Hawk was a bit flustered, but now he's calm and composed.

He took less than a minute.

Saint Warriors were born for war.

The Chitauri Soldier fired repeatedly.

"Bang bang snap!"

With a crisp sound, the soldier, continuously firing Energy Bullets, halted suddenly and then looked down at the emptied clip of his aircraft.

At this moment.

The wind whistled.

The Chitauri Warrior looked up, and in his sight, a broken steel panel from a water tank whistled out of the dust, clanging with a bang onto his aircraft.

Hit by the broken steel panel, the aircraft tilted instantly, causing the Chitauri Soldier seated atop to instinctively fly away, only to careless fall straight off the aircraft.

"Thud!"

"Geez!"

The Chitauri Soldier who fell on the rooftop quickly stood up, drawing the gun-like weapon from his back, also powered by a core of ghostly green energy.

"Hiss hiss hiss!"

The Chitauri Soldier emitted indescribable sounds, seemingly saying something, possibly communicating with his species.

Although Hawk couldn't quite understand what this Chitauri Soldier was doing, he wasn't too concerned about it.

After all...

If you're fighting, be serious!

By now, after a frantic assault from the Chitauri Soldiers, the apartment rooftop was completely in ruins.

Although it hadn't collapsed yet, it's as good as collapsed.

Most of the rooftop had caved in, some areas even crashing through to the third floor, revealing a view of the third-floor apartment.

But no one noticed what was happening on the rooftop.

New Yorkers might lack some skills, but when it comes to survival, nobody understands it better than them.

Having grown up amid various shootings and terrorist attacks, New Yorkers have long developed the skill of fleeing without looking back at the first sign of danger to save their lives.

Dust on the rooftop gradually settled.

Soon.

Hawk's figure emerged.

The Chitauri Soldier, seeing Hawk stand before him, his eerie green eyes flickered coldly, instantly pulled his trigger.

"Go to hell!"
