Chapter 281 - Chapter 280: Blue Pegasus Trio

There are quite a few ways to track mice, for example, relying on the Shadow Wolves' sense of smell, and capturing them once discovered on the ground.

If a mouse hole is found, have the Stone Beetle dig underground and retrieve the mouse.

The Beaked Birds are responsible for aerial reconnaissance, swooping down or shooting them with feathers upon spotting a target.

Rhode and Mira are responsible for sitting on the River Crabs as supervisors.

If not for the chaos caused by the mice, the atmosphere would be quite pleasant now.

Of course, their main task isn't sightseeing, but to prepare for any unexpected situations.

Rhode watched as the wild creatures produced sporadic results: "Feels like the efficiency is a bit low."

Mira said, "Because during the day they won't surge in like yesterday."

"Hmm... Do you have any good ideas?"

Mira gently patted Warm, who accompanied them, and smiled, "Use Warm as bait? Chubby and fragrant, it must be very attractive."

"Huh?" Warm showed a frightened expression, with its little horns drooping down.

"That's too cruel, isn't it?"

Warm nudged into Rhode's arms but soon heard him say, "Besides, there's only so much meat, it would be finished soon and wouldn't attract too many mice."

Warm wanted to return to the Wailing Abyss; this place wasn't livable at all!

Mira patted Warm's head to soothe it and suggested, "Satan's Soul?"

She meant to bomb the surrounding area with Satan's Soul.

"Let's not." Though they told the village chief it might cause some damage, they couldn't turn their fields into craters.

"It's better to use the Nest Insects for a thorough search instead."

Rhode sighed; although slowly catching them like on a vacation wasn't bad, the villagers were waiting to plant their crops.

Had it not been for the restrictions on using poison in the fields, Rhode had a biochemical plan to eradicate the mice.

Though exhausting, he could let the Nest Insects rest every couple of hours.

The Nest Insects emerged, and the thorough search began—a true 'insect carpet' search.

The worms were extremely elastic, and the mice here were large, allowing them to squeeze into almost every mouse hole.

As a result, the efficiency of catching mice increased significantly, with a steady stream of mice being dragged out by the worms.

Though there were inevitably some losses, they were not significant.

"Ah, I'm so tired." Rhode uttered his lines without any emotion, leaning against Mira.

Mira just embraced Rhode, tousled his hair, then tidied it up again.

In times of war, soldiers risk their lives, while under the beauty's tent, there's dance and music; Rhode realized he had the potential to become a negligent emperor.

But the worms were enthusiastically bouncing around... Rhode only needed to be a good power source.

After working hard for nearly two hours.

Rhode was ready to take a break when he suddenly noticed the worms rapidly disappearing.

Not only the worms but two Stone Beetles were taken out—the kind that splits and splits until sent back to Summoner's Rift.

Rhode quickly sat up and reminded, "Be careful, there's something powerful underground nearby."

"Okay." Mira became serious, watching her surroundings warily, on guard for any huge creature's sudden appearance.

A few minutes later, a mouse hole that the worms quite liked suddenly seemed to explode, with soil flipping upward, exposing some innocent worms.

Soon a tall figure leaped out, its two glowing red eyes staring directly at Rhode.

It was an upright giant rat, as tall as two people, with a potbelly, a tail like a long whip, and a pair of incisors nearly a foot long.

"Hiss—" The giant rat opened its mouth, producing a hoarse sound.

Mice began emerging from the hole and running over from afar, gathering by the giant rat.

"There really is a Mouse King." Rhode wasn't the least bit flustered; it would have been bothersome if this rat had come out a bit sooner or later, but the timing was perfect now.

"Smash it!" Rhode gestured to the Golem, which stomped over towards the Mouse King.

Fearless worms were already attacking; they only remembered the command to attack mice, and this thing was a mouse, so they bit.

Under the Mouse King's command, the mice also launched an attack, setting off another insect-mouse battle, albeit on a smaller scale than yesterday's.

The Golem's fist punched out, and the Mouse King's claws struck forward.

The next moment, a bit of rock debris fell from the Golem, but the Mouse King's incisors were broken off, skewing its face as it flew out.

Rhode shook his head, "So weak, maybe Elfman shouldn't bother absorbing it?"

Mira slapped him, "How do you still remember that!"

In that moment, another similarly-sized rat appeared from another direction, slapping its paw on the Void Nest Insect's head.

That nest insect vanished on the spot, while the other two worms retreated, spitting dark purple magic bullets at it.

The giant rat deftly dodged side to side, then leapt high directly toward Rhode himself.

"There's another one? And it even knows tactics?"

Rhode was surprised but not panicked, as Mira had already activated Satan's Soul, manifesting a larger dark purple magic ball than yesterday, which she threw forcefully.

The giant rat was struck hard in the abdomen, its body bending in an arc as it flew backward, engulfed in the explosion's light upon landing.

Let's hope there's a complete corpse.

Mira smiled back, "How's that? As your personal bodyguard."

"Super cool!" Rhode openly expressed his admiration and affection.

The striking lipstick, along with the crack-like line on her face, combined with the explosive effects in the distance...

Even made him feel like calling her sister!

Mira tossed a few magic bullets into the nearby mouse swarm to speed up the battle, then reverted to her sweet smiling self.

In just a few seconds, she switched to a completely different style.

Absolutely unfair.

The other giant rat was soon beaten into submission by the Golem.

The leaderless remnants of the mouse army were quickly dealt with by the worms.

This greatly accelerated the process of eradicating the mice.

At this moment, three figures suddenly appeared from the direction where the rat blown away by Mira was.

One of them squatted down to check the situation: "What a headache, someone already took care of it."

The shorter guy asked, "So what should we do next?"

The last guy, a handsome dark-skinned man, said awkwardly, "No choice, we'll have to meet them, but it's not because I wanted to."

"Mr. Hibiki, from Blue Pegasus?" Rhode recognized the one who forcibly stuffed a 'language pack' into his brain.

He had seen the other two in magazines before as well.

"Miss Mirajane, we meet again." Hibiki approached with a dazzling smile to greet, "You look even more dazzling than last time."

The handsome dark-skinned man adjusted his hair and looked sideways, "Uh... I'm Ren. Let me say in advance, although you are very beautiful, it's not like I specifically wanted to introduce myself to you."

A tsundere? A male tsundere? Rhode felt uncomfortable.

"So it's Miss Mirajane, pleased to meet you. I'm Ive from Blue Pegasus."

The shortest handsome guy dramatically knelt on one knee, his eyes seemingly sparkling like stars, extending a hand as if to perform a hand-kiss ceremony, "I've always admired you. May I, may I call you sister?"

The three seemed habitually to ignore Rhode, just encircling Mira.

Gentlemen! Rhode was almost about to explode, unable to hold back an urge to use Elfman's catchphrase.

He now just wanted to summon the Canyon Vanguard to smack these guys.

Mira cheerfully held Rhode's hand, leaning into him:

"Hello, I'm Mirajane of Fairy Tail, and this is my boyfriend, Rhode."
