Chapter 629 - Chapter 301: Rhode's Ecstasy

After Rhode unleashed the Purgatory Sub-Dragon and dealt with Kaburico and Rastillos, Elfman, Lisana, Gray, and Jubia, who had been knocked down, quickly regained consciousness.

Without the suppression of human-aligned magic, and with the magic power boost from the Celestial Wolf Tree, the abundant magic power would quickly restore their physical state.

Additionally, Rhode brought Wendy and Gajeel over, and Wendy's healing significantly accelerated their recovery.

Loki, who was severely injured, needed to return to the Star Spirit Realm to recuperate. Rhode instructed Lucy to act together with the others, while he had to fly back to the camp to check things out first.

He pondered that with so many people gathered together, it might be safer than the current camp. It would be better for him to check it out before deciding on a course of action.

Rhode summoned the Cyan Engraved Golem, donned a Crown of Insight to maintain endurance, and hastily flew towards the camp.

However, just as he flew near the camp and sensed that familiar strong magic power from Mira's body, he saw the giant tree in the center of the island fall.

Before Rhode could consider what was happening, he suddenly felt most of the magic power in his body rapidly drain away.

The sudden feeling of weakness made his body tilt, nearly causing him to crash!

"What's going on?"

The sudden loss of a large amount of magic power made Rhode wonder if a dragon, like Lucy's Star Spirit, had suddenly appeared on its own.

To avoid crashing from lack of magic power, Rhode decisively lowered his flight altitude and summoned the Cyan Engraved Golem before his magic power ran out, retracting his wings and sitting on its shoulder to move forward.

The previous Crown of Insight hadn't yet disappeared, continuously replenishing Rhode's magic power, but his face still looked somewhat pale.

Rhode hadn't experienced this feeling of insufficient magic power for a long time, particularly without summoning or taking on those large wild creatures.

He quietly checked the Summoner's Rift and Twisted Jungle, confirming that no wild creatures had sneaked away, leaving him even more perplexed about where the magic power had gone.

After carefully assessing his condition, Rhode found his situation quite bizarre.

On one hand, aided by the Crown of Insight, his magic power was restoring rapidly, enough to simultaneously maintain both the Cyan Engraved Golem and Void Nest Insect, functioning like a perpetual motion machine.

However, on the other hand, as soon as his magic power recovered, it was quickly drained again, theoretically preventing him from maintaining the presence of any creatures.

Yet whenever the Cyan Engraved Golem and Void Nest Insects were about to disappear, magic power would recover, only to be swiftly drained again.

This left Rhode with a face alternating between red and white, as if he had practiced some kind of martial arts and lost control of his inner energy.

This feeling was, of course, quite uncomfortable.

At times, he felt he could punch a bull to death, at other times, even breathing seemed laborious.

He was stuck in a superposition of being able to fight and unable to fight.

It felt like something had gone wrong, like a bug in his system.

Sitting on the shoulder of the Cyan Engraved Golem for a while, Rhode even began to feel somewhat dizzy, likely a delusion from this peculiar experience.

BOOM!!!

The intense explosion drew Rhode's attention; it was coming from the direction of the camp.

He saw fierce flames accompanied by thick black smoke rising to the sky, with a figure crashing out from the fire, swiftly diving back down.

It was Mira!

From that momentum, it was clear she was preparing for a decisive battle with someone.

"Go quickly!" Rhode sensed another strong magic power source besides Mira, possibly much stronger than Rastillos.

The Cyan Engraved Golem was urged by Rhode to quicken its pace.

Although it was a bit slow, Rhode dared not switch it for another creature; the moment the Crown of Insight vanished, he might immediately collapse.

Thud… thud… thud…

The running sound of the Cyan Engraved Golem was loud, but completely drowned out by the noise of the battle. Meanwhile, Mira and Azuma were so engrossed in their combat that they didn't notice anything.

As Precht had speculated, once Azuma seized control of the magic power on Celestial Wolf Island, he immediately drained the magic from the Fairy Tail members, sparing only Mira's.

Moreover, to awaken the strongest Demon Mira, he made a pact with her that if she could defeat him, he would immediately restore everyone's magic power.

One can't completely trust what others say, but Mira had no other recourse at the moment, forced to find a way to defeat him quickly.

The lives of all the guild members rested on her shoulders, feeling incredibly heavy, a suffocating pressure that even brought back memories from Edolas when she had just recovered from a Magic Crystal.

Mira didn't dare economize on magic power anymore; every punch and kick unleashed her maximum power, and every long-range attack magic pursued maximum destructive power.

Thus, the battlefield rapidly transformed, as the once-clear forest area was leveled once, then unnaturally sprouted all sorts of tangled woods.

Some grew only roots, some only vines, and others looked like trunks but were twisted and contorted.

These strange woods, without exception, bore traces of splintering, breaking, or explosion damage, and the uneven ground was naturally self-explanatory.

After various trials with close combat and long-range magic attacks, Mira finally chose a strategy through close combat opportunities.

However, Azuma had clearly understood the strengths and weaknesses of the Satan's Soul. Pure close combat was a fool's errand; he must wholly utilize the power of the Great Tree Arc to stand a chance of defeating her.

Under Mira's relentless offensive disregarding costs, Azuma quickly fell into a disadvantage, and the long-lost fear of facing death arose in his heart.

Yet, this feeling also made him more excited.

"Yes, just like that! Confront fear, unleash stronger power, and then defeat a mighty opponent! This is what I desire! Be more terrifying, Demon Mira!"

Under immense fear, Azuma's Great Tree Arc seemed to unleash even stronger power.

Every twig and leaf could become his weapon, and even ordinary wood under his magic could transform into sharp blades and long spears.

These attacks easily pierced Mira's defenses, injuring her shoulder, cutting her arm…

Coupled with the robust, flexible vines that bent and contracted freely, Mira found it increasingly difficult to approach Azuma.

She had to expend some magic power to deal with the obstructive vines and branches, but a lapse allowed her wrist and ankle to be bound.

"Hahaha… It's the end, Demon Mira!" Azuma laughed heartily, unleashing the magic power within the vines before Mira could break free, "Let's see the magic power from Celestial Wolf Island—Roar of the Earth!"

BOOM!!!

An unprecedented massive explosion resounded through the entire Celestial Wolf Island, with the blast wave bending the trees in the surrounding forest nearly to the breaking point.

At the explosion's center, Mira had to muster all her magic power to defend against it to ensure she could continue fighting.

But if her magic power depleted, the defense would be pointless, so she had to save enough power still…

"Ahhhh!!!"
