Tonia's POV
I threw my head back in complete defeat, every fiber of my being screaming with exhaustion.
"Speak up, Tonia! Give me one good reason why you wouldn't want him here!"
"No!" I matched his furious tone without hesitation. "I'm the one who shouldn't be here, Kermit. You're the one who needs to set me free!"
God, everything was already such a mess for me. I kept getting wounded because of him, and he remained completely oblivious to my pain. The blame rested squarely on my shoulders. Every single bit of it was my doing.
The door swung open behind me, and Bradley's distinctive scent flooded my senses before I even turned to look. I had been desperately hoping that somehow, through some stroke of luck, I could make it back to the Pack before he discovered what had happened here. Clearly, fate had other plans.
