Faye's POV
The door swung open before I could knock twice.
Prince Kian stood in the doorway, but my attention shifted immediately to the figure seated at the small wooden table behind him. Elder Abel looked up from the scroll he'd been reading, his expression neither surprised nor particularly welcoming.
"Selena, stay with the horses," I called back without turning around. I caught her disapproving glance from the corner of my eye, but she positioned herself near the steps as instructed.
I pushed past Kian into the cramped cabin. The ride from the manor had been brutal, my horse lathered with sweat by the time we'd reached this remote location. Lady Liam's theatrical display still echoed in my mind, but those concerns seemed distant now. What mattered was getting answers that Hardy had refused to give me.
