Faye's POV
Hardy wasted no time. Before I could voice any objection, he issued a sharp command to Sister Vera about keeping Camila comfortable and brooked no discussion. His fingers wrapped around my arm, steering me toward the cabin's exit.
Two guards trailed behind us as we walked across the courtyard, their boots silent on the packed earth. Still, I sensed the intensity radiating from Hardy through our connection. Something burned beneath his composed exterior, controlled yet fierce. Was he upset with me? Had I made some mistake?
The entire journey back passed in silence. The tension coiling inside him was undeniable, bleeding through to settle like a weight in my chest. Something darker lurked beneath what he allowed me to feel, something he fought to contain. When we finally passed through the gates and the mansion doors shut with finality, my pulse hammered against my ribs.
