Kyra's POV
The heavy chamber door sealed shut with a resounding thud, leaving only silence in its wake. Sister Vera and her companions had departed, their footsteps echoing down the corridor until they faded completely. Now, in the stillness of the stone room, only Kyra and Rodrigo remained.
"Share your thoughts with me, Rodrigo," Kyra said, her lips maintaining that practiced curve of satisfaction as she settled back into her chair.
"May I speak without restraint, Matron?" he asked, his voice carrying the weight of careful consideration.
"Proceed."
Rodrigo's jaw tightened slightly before he responded. "They departed unconvinced. If I may say so, they appeared more than skeptical. They seemed genuinely enraged."
