Chapter 14 - 13. The Watch Tower Demonstration.

"Strength is not proven by destruction, but by restraint before the eyes of gods."

---

The Watch Tower orbited silently above Earth, bathed in sunlight reflecting off its glassy hull.

Inside, the Justice League gathered. Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Green Arrow watched a live feed: King stepping through the Zeta tube. Calm, scarred and utterly confident.

He carried nothing — no weapons, no armor beyond his own body. Only presence.

Arrival and Challenge

Superman broke the silence. "King… welcome. We've requested your presence to evaluate your capabilities firsthand."

King's gaze swept the room, scanning each member without intimidation or arrogance. "I did not come to prove anything. I am here to show truth."

Wonder Woman stepped forward. "Then let us begin. Demonstrate your skill and we will measure the scope of your abilities."

King inclined his head slightly. "Very well."

Combat Demonstration

Round One: Speed and Reflexes.

Flash struck first, moving faster than the eye could track. King barely shifted. The blur passed him like wind through a tree. Flash skidded to a halt, panting.

"Impressive." Flash said. "You… you didn't move at all."

Round Two: Strength

Superman attempted a controlled punch, intended to test King without harming him. King caught it mid-strike, redirecting the force gently back toward Superman. The Man of Steel staggered, surprised by the restraint.

"Your strength is… extraordinary." Superman admitted.

Round Three: Combat Skills

Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Batman coordinated an assault. King did not dodge unnecessarily. He parried, absorbed and countered with minimal effort, redirecting each strike safely but decisively. Within moments, all three were off-balance, disarmed and respectfully at his mercy.

Round Four: Mental Fortitude

Martian Manhunter tried telepathy. King's mind was an unyielding fortress. Thoughts ricocheted harmlessly, intentions repelled by sheer will. Green Arrow tried verbal provocation. King calmly deflected every taunt, answering only with quiet wisdom.

Aftermath

The League, gathered and catching their breath, realized something profound:

King subdued them effortlessly.

His mind could not be read.

His body could not be injured or displaced by conventional means.

His will and soul were immovable, unshakable.

Batman finally spoke, voice tight but impressed. "You are… not just strong. You are discipline incarnate."

King's scarred gaze softened slightly. "I do not fight for glory. I do not seek dominance. I merely exist as I am — unshakable, unwavering. Let your respect or fear be your choice, not mine."

Wonder Woman nodded slowly. "He does not provoke. He simply is."

Superman, still catching his breath, muttered, "He makes us feel… powerless, yet not threatened. That's… unsettling."

King inclined his head politely. "That is truth. Power is only frightening when it is misused or misunderstood. I am neither."

Alfred's words echoed in Bruce's mind: A man who cannot be moved can teach more than one who cannot be stopped.

The Watch Tower hummed in quiet awe, the League left to contemplate the true nature of King: the immovable force whose existence alone commands respect, fear, and admiration.
