Evelyn was in her office, casually scrolling through her phone, when it buzzed insistently. She smirked, recognizing the name flashing on the screen.
"Smith," she answered smoothly, her tone playful.
"Evelyn… even you didn't come last night. You know how worried I was, babe," came the worried, slightly husky voice.
Evelyn's lips curved into a sly smile. Her thoughts flicked to Sarah for just a moment—perfect. An idea had already taken shape.
"Ok, hon," she purred. "I'll come right now. But… before that, I have a favor to ask."
She paused, listening, letting the suspense hang in the air. "Yes, it's… delicate. But I know you can handle it."
As she ended the call, Evelyn's eyes glimmered with mischief. Sarah's presence in Adam's life had already disrupted the careful balance Evelyn maintained. And now… well, a little push, a little influence here and there, and things could get very interesting.
She tapped her fingers on the desk thoughtfully, plotting her next move. "Let's see how you manage, Sarah," she murmured under her breath, the words almost like a promise. "This isn't going to be easy for you."
Smith's eyes widened, a flicker of concern crossing his face. "You… you actually want me to kiss her… in front of Adam? At the party?" His voice wavered slightly, betraying his unease. He knew Adam's temper all too well—crossing him would not end well.
Evelyn leaned back, smirking, clearly amused by his hesitation. "Come on, hon. It's simple. Just a kiss. Nothing more." Her tone was sweet, almost teasing, but there was a sharp edge beneath it.
Smith shook his head slowly. "Eve… Adam wouldn't—he'd never let this go. You know what he's capable of if he finds out."
"Exactly why it has to be perfectly timed," Evelyn replied, her eyes gleaming. "Look, my grandfather… he has a will, and he's willing to give it to Adam's actual wife. But Sarah is just… temporary. I know that. But I don't want to be wronged either. I want that will. I want to be the CEO of Technology."
She paused, letting the words sink in. "Adam already runs many companies, but this—this is my chance. And I'm the eldest. I deserve this. If I get the will, it's more than enough. A fortune, honey. And I promise, we can marry, and everyone will know it. No more secrets."
Smith frowned, his lips pressed into a thin line. Evelyn's plan was audacious, reckless even, but her determination was hard to ignore.
He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Evelyn… you really think this will work?"
She leaned in, her grin predatory. "It will. And you'll help me, won't you, darling?"
Smith hesitated, then nodded slowly, putting on a convincing act of agreement. Inside, however, he was shaking his head. Evelyn was clever, yes—but she had no idea just how dangerous Adam could be. Playing along was the only way to survive… at least for now.
Evelyn's smile widened. "Good. You'll see, honey. Everything will go exactly as I planned."
