"You're on your own!"
With those few words, Tony left, carrying Bucky as he departed.
Only Steve remained, kneeling and staring blankly at the receding Tony and the unconscious Bucky in his arms.
"Bucky, wait for me! I will save you!"
Steve slammed his fist on the ground, silently vowing with determination.
He already understood Tony's intention—he wouldn't easily forgive Bucky, the murderer, nor grant him a quick death.
Tony intended to put Bucky on trial before all of America, making him infamous for generations.
This was ruthless—true revenge. Killing Bucky outright would have been too easy. Tony wanted to strike at his heart, not just his life.
Tony hadn't expected it to go so smoothly. He had assumed S.H.I.E.L.D. would go all out to protect Steve.
If they had deployed everything—like the energy rifles with indiscriminate firing—he would have been defeated.
He also hadn't known that S.H.I.E.L.D. still had Red Skull-era energy rifles; his father had never mentioned it.
What he didn't realize was that the enraged New York public had stormed S.H.I.E.L.D. multiple times, making them hesitant to openly shield him from public outrage.
Now, all of America's attention was on them, wondering what Tony would do with Bucky and how Steve would respond.
Tony wasn't a fool—he didn't dare kill Steve. His reputation in America was too great.
Even so, his supporters likely numbered at least 180 million, maybe 200 million.
But Tony wasn't afraid. Bucky's crimes had crossed the line for all Americans. Steve couldn't save him.
Back at the Villa, Tony tossed Bucky into the Underground Room. With his current condition, Bucky couldn't die and would wake in a few hours.
"Pepper? Pepper?"
Tony called several times, but she didn't answer. He wanted to share his triumph with her.
"Hmm? Where is she? Strange!"
Tony noticed her phone was off.
At Leo's home nearby, seeing Tony return safely, Leo smiled.
"See? He's back. You can rest easy now, right?"
"Yes, yes, thank you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't know what to do," Pepper said, gratitude shining in her voice.
If Leo hadn't been her pillar of strength at that critical moment, she might have gone mad.
"Alright, go back. Don't be so formal. Tony's waiting at home."
"Okay, see you!"
After a light hug with Leo, Pepper vanished.
Not only was Tony anxious, but Pepper also wished she could instantly fly into his arms to vent her emotions.
Watching her leave, Leo looked thoughtfully toward Tony's Villa.
Pepper hadn't noticed she was different; joy had overshadowed everything.
"System, did you detect Pepper awakening some ability just now?"
This shouldn't be happening! She was already thirty, yet she could still awaken.
[Ding, responding to host: The system detected that Pepper has awakened Telekinesis and Supersonic Movement.]
Two abilities? Incredible! Could this be the terror of the Infinite Mutants race?
All humans carried Mutant genes; awakening was just a thought away.
Once everyone could awaken, it would be a glorious era—the entire Universe dominated by Mutants.
[Host, do you want to extract it?]
The system's voice brought Leo back to reality. He shook his head—no extraction. It was unnecessary, a waste.
"System, no extraction. Please settle my points."
He knew his harvest was coming. Altering the plot like this was too satisfying.

Damn it! Bucky really wasn't worth much! Leo cursed under his breath. A character who just made up the numbers indeed.

This was pretty good—besides Spider-Man, the others were just supporting characters.
