Cherreads

Chapter 157 - 157

I continued my research in potions and alchemy while perfecting my other pursuits. My latest accomplishment was the creation of a cure for Dragon Pox — a feat that even St. Mungo's would envy. I developed cures for several other diseases as well, all of which earned me a quiet sense of satisfaction.

Lately, I've been delving into the study of healing magic. It's a field often overlooked by those who walk my path, but I've found that the manipulation of light and restoration comes just as naturally to me as destruction and shadow. My talent for both light and dark magic is perfectly balanced — two sides of the same coin.

Occasionally, I make an appearance before the students. It's amusing, in a way — watching their awed expressions, their whispered rumors. When I find one with genuine potential, I sometimes grant them private lessons, teaching them a spell or two far beyond the standard curriculum. A small investment, perhaps, in the future.

But among my achievements, none rival the brilliance of my newest creation: the Cloning Potion.

It's a masterpiece — a potion capable of creating a perfect copy of myself. Each clone endures for roughly ten hours, possessing around ten percent of my total magical power. When their time expires, they dissolve — their entire memory and experience flowing back into me like a river returning to its source.

After several rounds of experimentation, I discovered that ten clones at once is the safe limit. Any more, and the resulting mental backlash becomes… unpleasant. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Now, I typically maintain five active copies. One assumes my duties as Headmaster — attending staff meetings, speaking to students, maintaining appearances in the Great Hall. Another dedicates itself to potion-brewing. A third studies Nicolas Flamel's old notes, refining alchemical theories. A fourth operates at the Ministry of Magic, quietly adjusting my plans and influences there.

As for my true self — I remain within the Chamber, refining spellcraft and exploring the limits of healing magic.

Five versions of me, each serving a purpose. Five minds working as one.

And the world has no idea how deep my reach truly runs.
