Chapter 441: Return to Terra

After completing the final calibration of all systems, Ryo stood before the main console in the biological laboratory of the Eternal Seeker.

Multiple display screens simultaneously presented real-time data streams transmitted from the hovering research station: the lake water temperature gradient curve undulated smoothly, chemical composition analysis charts refreshed regularly, microbial community distribution heat maps constantly shifted, and the newly activated Genesis Particle radiation intensity readings remained stable at the preset value.

"Advanced Life Guidance Experiment, initiate."

The instant the command was issued, the deployment unit at the bottom of the hovering research station began to operate smoothly.

An invisible stream of Genesis Particles, with a precisely controlled flow rate, was continuously injected into the sparkling lake surface below, like a meticulously designed irrigation.

At the same time, the sensor network deployed throughout the lake simultaneously activated a new round of full-time monitoring, beginning to record every minute change that might occur within this unique ecosystem.

The hovering research station operated continuously and stably over the next three months.

During this period, Ryo devoted most of his working hours to observing the lake ecosystem. Through the monitoring system in the biological laboratory of the Eternal Seeker, he closely watched the changes in every set of transmitted data.

The trace deployment of Genesis Particles quickly showed the expected results.

Continuous data from the sensors indicated that the evolutionary process of life in the lake was exhibiting a distinct accelerating trend.

By the end of the second month of the experiment, the high-resolution microscopic observation system captured clear signs of the emergence of multicellular organisms for the first time.

In the initial stage, it was merely simple cellular aggregation. Subsequently, these cell clusters gradually developed preliminary functional differentiation.

By the middle of the third month, the monitoring system was able to stably track several formed multicellular biological morphologies.

These organisms were still at a quite primitive evolutionary stage, minute in size and simple in structure, but they already exhibited behavioral characteristics entirely different from single-celled organisms.

Some species had developed basic motility, able to move directionally in the water; others had formed fixed colony structures, with clear functional division of labor among the cells.

With the rigorous attitude characteristic of the Mechanicus, Ryo detailed every evolutionary node.

He placed special emphasis on analyzing the response patterns of these primitive multicellular organisms to Genesis Particle radiation. By comparing the genetic sequence mutation data between the experimental group and the control group, he attempted to establish a quantitative model of how Genesis Particles influenced the development of life forms.

A massive amount of data charts and evolutionary pathway analysis reports accumulated in the daily experimental logs.

Just as Ryo was focused on data analysis, a light frigate bearing the insignia of the Imperial Navy ended its warp voyage and appeared on the outskirts of the Death World star system.

Its ship identification code showed that it was directly subordinate to Holy Terra. After passing the authorization verification of the orbital defense system, it was granted permission to dock with the Eternal Seeker.

After the docking procedure was completed, a messenger dressed in an Imperial official's uniform stepped onto the bridge under the guidance of a Mechanicus attendant.

The golden Aquila on his epaulets indicated that he possessed special clearance with direct access to the highest power departments of the Imperium.

With standardized movements, the messenger gave Ryo an Imperial military salute, his posture respectful yet carrying a unique solemnity.

"Magos Ryo," the messenger's voice maintained an official gravity. "By the order of Primarch Rogal Dorn, I am here to deliver a recall directive. The Imperial Fists gene-seed restoration project has entered a critical phase and requires your immediate return to Holy Terra to personally supervise it."

The messenger presented a sealed data slate with both hands, the seal of Rogal Dorn clearly branded upon it.

Ryo took the data slate, his mechanical tentacles quickly reading the encrypted contents.

The document detailed the latest progress of the project: Magos Alvaro Vis had encountered unexpected technical bottlenecks while executing the restoration plan, and multiple Inductii warriors who had undergone the augmentation exhibited severe rejection reactions.

The synergistic efficiency between the gene-seed and the implanted organs was far below expected values, and the subsequent advancement of the project had to rely on Ryo's personal guidance.

The medical reports attached within the data slate further revealed that the rejection reactions primarily focused on tissue necrosis at neural connections and functional disorders of the endocrine system.

These clinical symptoms deviated significantly from the theoretical model Ryo had initially established, indicating that under the condition of prolonged gene-seed deficiency, the warriors' physiological systems had undergone deeper adaptive changes.

The messenger remained standing at attention, patiently waiting for Ryo to complete his review of all the materials before adding, "The Primarch specifically emphasized that this matter concerns the future of the warriors of the Imperial Fists, and hopes you can depart as soon as possible."

Ryo's processor rapidly evaluated the priority of all current tasks. While the Genesis Particle experiment was important, it had entered a relatively stable observation period; however, the emergency situation in the gene-seed restoration project indeed required his personal handling.

"Convey to Primarch Dorn that I will arrange for the return journey immediately," Ryo gave a clear answer.

The messenger saluted again and quietly left the bridge accompanied by the attendant.

Ryo immediately set about arranging the subsequent work.

He first summoned the apprentices responsible for the biological experiments, instructing them to switch the lake experiment to observation mode and suspend the continuous deployment of Genesis Particles, while keeping all monitoring systems running at full power.

The apprentices were ordered to station themselves in the hovering research station and continue routine observation and data recording, with a focus on the evolutionary trends of multicellular organisms.

Subsequently, Ryo temporarily transferred the daily management authority of the Death World base to Ignis.

Skitarii Marshal Anvil-7 and Captain Hector of the Black Templars would continue to be jointly responsible for base defense affairs, ensuring the normal operation and security of the base during his absence.

After deploying these matters, Ryo walked to the command seat on the bridge.

"Set course: Holy Terra," he commanded the ship's cogitator array, and notified the Navigator on board: "Initiate hybrid navigation mode. Use conventional warp travel in stable warp regions, and activate the warp drive for jumps in storm zones."

As a Crescent-class vessel, the Eternal Seeker retained warp engines for long-distance travel, and naturally required a Navigator and a navigation spire.

Due to the antipathy the Navigator Houses held toward the warp drive, the Navigator on the Eternal Seeker was sent by the Velerstanna House.

The engines of the Eternal Seeker began to preheat, the hull vibrating slightly.

After the course was confirmed, the research vessel slowly sailed out of the Death World orbit. It first activated its warp engines, tearing open a brilliant and dangerous warp rift in front of its bow.

When the ship detected an impassable warp storm in the path ahead, it would temporarily exit the warp, activate its warp drive to complete a short-distance jump in realspace, bypass the storm zone, and then re-enter the warp.

Ryo's mechanical body stood quietly on the bridge, his optical lenses watching the shifting, flowing lights ahead as they sailed toward the central world of the Imperium of Man.
