The howling wind from the rooftop filled Lin Chen's ears, threatening to blow away his last vestiges of consciousness. Half his body dangled in mid-air, the dizzying cityscape below a blur of tiny cars and pedestrians like moving beetles. Lu Tianyu's hand gripped his arm like an iron clamp, his face contorted with a ferocious mix of anger, resentment, and destructive rage.
"Let me go!" Lin Chen roared, his other hand digging into the rusty railing, the cold metal digging into his flesh, sending excruciating pain through him, but this pain only sharpened his senses.
"Get down! With your damned stubbornness!" Lu Tianyu's eyes were bloodshot as he forcefully shoved him away. Two men in black, seeing this, stepped forward, attempting to help Lu Tianyu push Lin Chen off, creating the illusion of an "accidental death"!
Just at this critical moment!
"Bang!" The rooftop passageway door was violently flung open!
"Police! Don't move!" Several armed police officers appeared like gods, rushing forward instantly, guns pointed at Lu Tianyu and the two men in black!
"Release the hostage!" the lead officer shouted sharply.
This sudden turn of events caused Lu Tianyu to freeze in his tracks. That fraction of a second of hesitation gave Lin Chen a chance to survive! Taking advantage of a slight loosening of their grip, he used all his strength to struggle inwards!
"Rip—" The sound of tearing sleeves.
Lu Tianyu staggered backwards due to inertia, while Lin Chen, using the recoil, crashed heavily onto the rooftop floor, seeing stars and feeling a burning pain in his arms and knees.
"Grab them!" At the officer's command, the police officers immediately moved forward, quickly subduing the two men in black who were trying to resist, and cold handcuffs locked their wrists.
Lu Tianyu stood rooted to the spot, offering no resistance. He straightened his askew tie and glasses, the ferocious expression on his face quickly fading, replaced by his usual inscrutable calm, though a cold, lifeless stillness lingered in his eyes. He knew it was all over.
Two policemen stepped forward and handcuffed him.
"Lu Tianyu, you are suspected of illegal detention, extortion, attempted murder, and multiple economic crimes. You are now under arrest!"
Lin Chen, panting heavily on the ground, watched as Lu Tianyu was escorted past him by the police. Lu Tianyu's gaze swept over him, devoid of any emotion, as if he were looking at an insignificant object.
Just then, another unexpected event occurred!
Just moments before entering the stairwell, Lu Tianyu, being escorted, suddenly and unexpectedly shoved a policeman beside him with his shoulder, simultaneously and subtly hooking his foot—
Caught off guard, the policeman lost his balance, his hand instinctively reaching to the side, shoving Lin Chen, who had just been helped up by his colleague and was still shaken!
Lin Chen was already standing near the edge of the rooftop; the force of the push made it impossible for him to maintain his footing, and he slipped and fell backward!
"Ah—!" Amidst the horrified gazes of the crowd, his body cleared the low railing and plummeted towards the ground!
