Chapter 16 - WAR OF REALMS.

The Werewolf Realm

Alpha Levi's POV

For the past few months, I've been drowning in pack work. Without a Luna, every responsibility lands on me. Zaki, the gamma, helps with Luna duties whenever he can, and about Micha… we've settled things. It wasn't easy for him, but Magnus managed the pack well in my absence.

Things are back to normal—almost.

Michelle is a name none of us mention. Bringing her up would only reopen old wounds.

But pack problems aren't the only thing keeping me busy.

The portal.

I told Micha about it. I didn't mention the mate bond—I only said I felt a strong presence and saw a portal. I explained what happened with the seer, how she began coughing black blood when she tried to speak. Of course Micha was shocked.

Recently, we've been researching portals and the forgotten realms, but every time we get close to answers, something blocks us.

For example—today.

We went to the ancient library that once belonged to the seers. Micha and I searched for anything related to realms. After hours of digging, we finally found a book titled:

"THE FORGOTTEN REALMS."

"Finally, something useful," Micha muttered.

"I hope so," I replied. "The title sounds promising."

If only we knew.

I opened the first page—blank.

Second page—blank.

Third, fourth… nothing. Page after page, just empty white paper.

We spent hours in that library and gained nothing. Except one thing:

Frustrated, I flipped to the last page—and saw writing.

> "And that was how the four realms became enemies and created portals to prevent the races from ever meeting again, to end the War of Realms. As part of the agreement, they erased each other's existence."

Micha ran a hand through his hair.

"Okay… so we know there are four realms. We know a war happened. We know portals exist. But if they erased existence, why was a portal seen on our land? And who opened it?"

"To be honest, Micha, I don't know." I leaned back against the shelf, exhausted. "Why couldn't they leave real history behind? Would it kill them?"

Still, we kept searching. Maybe we'd find something. I didn't want to disturb the pack seer—she was still being treated by the pack doctor. Whatever oath binds these secrets clearly kills anyone who speaks about it. I won't let her die.

Micha nodded in understanding and we continued searching through thousands of ancient books.

Then we saw it.

Another book—this one titled:

"WARS OF THE REALMS."

We looked at each other, excited. But we braced ourselves, afraid it would be blank like the first.

I opened it—

And the book didn't open.

The cover was iron mixed with wood, heavy and old. I tried again. Nothing.

Micha suggested we burn it. Maybe melting the metal would open it.

So we threw it in the fire.

Nothing.

Not a scratch.

Exhausted, we both collapsed to the ground, surrounded by ancient books. When I pulled the book from the flames, I realized it wouldn't leave my hand.

It was stuck to my palm.

"Micha—"

He stepped closer, ready to help, but I shook my head. "Relax. A book can't hurt me."

If only I knew.

The book began to move on its own. The pages beat like a heart. Heat spread across my palm, burning my skin.

Micha grabbed the book, trying to pull it off, but it only burned him too.

He yanked harder—and a piece of my skin tore away, sticking to the iron surface. The pain stung, but my healing abilities restored the wound quickly.

Then it happened.

The book glowed.

The iron shifted.

And it opened.

Golden letters appeared across the pages, words forming line by line. Micha and I stared, stunned—and excited. Finally, something real. Something the realms didn't erase.

We were about to start reading when—

Zaki burst into the library.

The moment he entered, the glow vanished. The book slammed shut, locking itself again, as if it refused to be read by more than two people.

Micha and I turned to Zaki, who looked just as exhausted as us. But there was a sly grin on his face. Whenever he smiled like that, it meant trouble.

"Well, well, well," Zaki said cheerfully. "I bring bad tidings to the great Alpha of this pack."

I frowned. "What kind of bad tidings?"

He chuckled. "The White Moon Pack sent you an invitation. No—more like a gift."

He paused dramatically.

"A bride, Alpha. A Luna. Alpha Draven is sending his sister, and you are invited to his pack in two weeks to get engaged."

I stared at him, annoyed. "Is he insane? Why would I get engaged to someone I've never met—and who gave him the right to make decisions for me?"

My alpha aura exploded, filling the room with pressure. Micha and Zaki winced, struggling to breathe.

"Levi—calm down," Micha groaned through clenched teeth. "You're killing us."

I forced myself to breathe, pulling my aura back. The room finally relaxed.

Zaki hurried toward the door. "Message delivered. I'll just… take my leave before you explode again."

He disappeared almost instantly.

I sighed and turned to Micha. "I have so much happening already. A Luna is the last thing I need. What do I do?"

Micha rubbed his forehead, thinking hard. He always gave good advice—but right now, even he looked unsure.

Micha stayed silent for a moment, rubbing his temples.

"Levi… refusing the offer could start a war. The White Moon Pack isn't small, and Alpha Draven is known for being ruthless."

I sighed deeply. War was the last thing our pack needed.

"I can't accept a bride when my wolf is rejecting the idea. My mate is out there, I can feel it. No woman they send will change that."

Micha looked at me with concern.

"Then we have two problems: the portal… and a forced Luna."

I stared at the closed book in my hand, glowing faintly as if it was waiting for me to open it again.

Whatever secrets were inside… something told me they were all connected.

The portal.

The realms.

My mate.

And time was running out.
