Chapter 62 - Magnus Stirred

Chapter 62

The Werewolf Realm

Levi's POV

"So… you guys kissed?"

Micha's voice echoed through my room, filled with disbelief so thick it almost felt insulting. His eyes were wide, staring at me like I had just confessed to committing treason against the Moon Goddess herself.

"Yes," I said calmly, leaning back against my chair. "We did, Micha."

Zaki froze mid-step.

For a second, the room was silent.

Then—

"WHAT?" Zaki shouted, spinning toward me. "You kissed Erin?"

Micha leaned forward instantly, resting his elbows on his knees, curiosity burning bright in his eyes. "Okay, forget everything else. After the kiss… what did she say?"

I groaned, dragging a hand down my face. The memory replayed itself against my will—the warmth, the closeness, the moment that had felt dangerously right.

"She didn't say anything," I muttered.

Micha frowned. "Why not?"

"Because," I snapped, shooting a glare toward Zaki, "your stupid friend barged in right when—"

"I did not barge in!" Zaki protested. "I knocked. Twice. Nobody answered."

I turned slowly, my gaze darkening. "If nobody answered, didn't it occur to you that I was busy?"

Zaki blinked… then laughed.

"Relax, Alpha. Everything will work out." He smirked. "No wonder Erin's face was flushed when I saw her."

I clenched my jaw so hard it ached.

Micha burst out laughing, clearly enjoying my misery far too much.

I exhaled slowly, forcing myself to calm down. Then I looked at both of them seriously.

"Be honest with me," I said. "Erin and that Mars guy… are they together?"

Micha laughed again. "No. I really don't think so."

Zaki shot him a betrayed look. "Hey! You weren't supposed to tell him that. He was meant to suffer—jealousy, pain, despair."

I glared at Zaki. "Congratulations. You've officially revealed which one of you is my real friend."

Micha patted my shoulder with a grin. "Glad to be of service."

The mood shifted slightly as Micha leaned back, his smile fading into something thoughtful.

"It's been a while since we checked the Living Book," he said quietly.

My eyes widened.

He was right.

With the war looming over us, demons burning entire packs, and Roosevelt moving like a shadow over the realm, the Living Book had slipped my mind entirely.

"It's in my drawer," I said after a moment. "We should check it. Now."

I stood and pulled the drawer open, carefully lifting the ancient book and placing it on the table between us.

The Living Book lay still.

Silent.

Waiting.

Minutes passed.

Then an hour.

Nothing happened.

I tapped the cover lightly.

Still nothing.

My brows furrowed. After a moment of hesitation, I took out a needle, pricked my finger, and let a drop of blood fall onto the cover.

Zaki stared at me like I'd lost my mind. "Why are you bleeding on a book? Is this some kind of weird ritual?"

Micha and I exchanged a look.

Right.

Zaki wasn't supposed to be here.

"Uh… Zaki," I began carefully, "could you maybe—"

Before I could finish, his phone rang.

"Oh," he said, checking it. "Duty calls."

The moment the door shut behind him, Micha and I let out a breath of relief.

The Living Book trembled.

Its pages flipped open violently, golden letters rising into the air, glowing softly.

> "I must say… it has been a while."

The letters shimmered.

> "I am pleased to see you both alive."

Another line formed.

> "Has Roosevelt not yet burned the Werewolf Realm to ashes?"

"He has," I answered. "Every pack except one. The Red Moon Pack."

The book pulsed faintly.

> "Roosevelt is playing with you."

> "Do you truly believe he will spare this pack?"

> "He merely wishes for you to feel safe… before he burns it."

Micha sighed heavily. "That much, we already know. We just don't know when."

> "Even I do not know when," the book replied.

"But I know he will send Shadow Scale."

I stiffened. "Shadow Scale?"

> "The dragon."

"Roosevelt's dragon."

"The beast he has used to burn your race—and many others—for centuries."

Micha whistled under his breath. "That's… terrifying. And kind of impressive."

I shot him a look. "Focus."

"So what happens next?" Micha asked.

The golden letters rearranged themselves slowly.

> "I cannot see everything."

"But I know this—Levi and Erin will play crucial roles in the battlefield."

My breath caught.

"Me?" I asked quietly.

Erin made sense. She was powerful, frighteningly so.

But me?

"I can barely kill a demon alone," I said. "I need Micha's help. Sometimes even an elf or a vampire."

Before the book could respond, a knock echoed through the room.

The Living Book slammed shut instantly.

The door opened.

King Johnson stepped inside.

Michael followed closely behind him.

"We need to talk, boys," King Johnson said gravely.

They sat on the sofa while Micha and I turned our chairs toward them.

"What is it?" I asked.

King Johnson folded his hands. "It's about your bloodlines. Especially yours, Alpha Levi."

Michael nodded. "Your bloodline has potential far greater than you realize."

"How?" I asked.

Michael hesitated slightly. "There's a way for you to fully connect with your wolf."

I nodded slowly. "I know. It's happened before."

"That's not all," King Johnson said. "Your wolf—Magnus—is stronger than you."

Michael leaned forward. "If you allow him full control in battle…"

Understanding struck me immediately.

"You want me to let Magnus fight instead of me."

"Yes," King Johnson said firmly.

Michael continued, "Where you can kill one demon, Magnus can kill three—alone."

I stared at them.

"So every time Roosevelt attacks, you want me to switch with Magnus."

"Yes."

I exhaled deeply.

"That's not the problem," I admitted. "Convincing Magnus is."

That wolf was stubborn.

Proud.

Dangerous.

But necessary.

They stood.

"We'd appreciate it if you succeed," King Johnson said.

"Wait," Micha said quickly. "What about me?"

Michael smiled faintly. "Stay close to Levi. Your presence strengthens each other."

King Johnson added, "Your combined bloodline is likely why the Living Book opened."

They turned to leave.

Training awaited.

War awaited.

And deep inside me…

Magnus stirred.
