Chapter 68 - One Room

Chapter 68:

The Werewolf Realm

Mars POV

Mars Room

I didn't hesitate.

The moment I realized Theo was in my room, I quickly pulled off my jacket and covered Marcy's face with it. This was bad—very bad. Theo might not talk much, but he was close to Ruby. Ruby was close to Erin. Erin was close to Levi, the Alpha of this pack.

And whatever Marcy had done in the past, one thing was clear:

Levi must never see her.

I stepped forward, placing myself fully in front of her, shielding her from view.

Theo stood frozen near the door, eyes wide. He looked startled—probably because I had rushed in like a madman.

"What are you doing here, Theo?" I snapped.

Instead of answering, he tilted his head slightly and asked,

"Who's that?"

My jaw tightened.

"None of your business," I replied coldly. "Just leave. And don't tell anyone you were here, or what you're seeing right now."

To my surprise, he chuckled.

"Yes, yes, yes," he said playfully. "I won't tell anyone that the cold, heartless Mars has a girlfriend."

I frowned.

"Wait what —Theo, you're mistaken. This is not my—"

"Not your girlfriend?" he interrupted, grinning. "Then why are you protecting her like I'm going to harm her ? The second you realized someone was here, you hid her behind you and covered her face." He leaned closer, teasing. "She must be really beautiful."

I tried to reason with him.

"No, Theo, it's not like that. I just had to do it because her —"

"Because you love her!" he declared proudly. "I know, Mars, I know. I've never been in love before, but I get it. Don't worry—your secret is safe, it's very safe with me."

Before I could stop him, he whistled and headed for the door.

Just before leaving, he turned toward the figure behind me and said cheerfully,

"Hi, I'm Theodore. Queen Erin's closest aide. May I know your name?"

From behind me, Marcy replied softly,

"C.M."

I blinked.

C.M?

What was C.M

Theo's eyes lit up as if he had just won the lottery. He waved and walked out happily.

The second the door closed, I locked it—then sealed it with magic. We couldn't risk anyone sensing her presence.

I turned around just as she handed my jacket back to me.

"What's C.M?" I asked.

She replied calmly,

"Clara. Marcy."

I stared at her.

"What's Clara Marcy? Is Clara your surname?"

She shook her head.

"No. Clara is not my surname, it's my real name."

I nodded slowly. That explained a lot.

She pulled her phone from her pocket and dialed a number from memory. The call rang twice before a man picked up.

Before he could speak, she said,

"Dad, it's me. We need to talk, it's very urgent."

At first, I assumed she meant her father—until she continued.

"The plastic surgery I did… why did you lie to me? Why didn't you tell me it was magic? Now it's gone."

The man interrupted sharply, his voice rising.

"How did you find out the face was made with magic? Who told you? Anyone else who knows will die. Nobody must know I'm in contact with witches!"

"Dad, calm down," Clara said. "Why did you lie in the first place? No one knows. I found out myself. Why did you lie to me?"

He sighed heavily.

"Did you think I'd permanently change my daughter's face for some random girl who ran away from the pack? No, Clara. I did it for you. I didn't want you to know about the witches, so I lied."

She ended the call abruptly and switched off her phone.

I hadn't expected that.

"Why did you hang up?" I asked.

"He'll find me if I'm not careful, he'll track me he had connections with the humans and witches too" she said quietly. "I don't want you to get into trouble. Let's stick to your plan."

After seven days, I'd fix her face.

And she'd leave.

I nodded.

Clearing my throat, I said,

"I'll get you some food. The bathroom is over there. Take a shower before I return. You can change into my shirt and trousers—you don't have anything else."

She nodded.

I brought back food—proper werewolf food. By the time I returned, she was done showering. My clothes swallowed her frame; she looked small, almost fragile.

She ate quietly.

I sat there, lost in thought.

Nothing like this had ever happened before. The only women in my life were Erin and Diana. Diana was like a sister—my father entrusted her to me before he died.

But Clara… I didn't understand what was happening.

Still, one thing was certain.

I loved Erin.

After seven days, Clara would return to her world. I'd return to mine and everything would go back to normal.

When she finished eating, silence fell again. Then came the awkward part.

One room.

One bed.

Before I could speak, she jumped onto the bed and declared,

"You take the floor. I'm a lady—I can't sleep on the floor."

I stared at her.

"And why should I sleep on the floor? This is my room, in case you forgot."

She chuckled devilishly.

"Too bad. I'm already on the bed, and I can't sleep on the floor."

My eyes glowed green.

"You will sleep on the floor."

She gasped dramatically.

"You're not a gentleman! I shouldn't have even thought of liking you in the first place. Thank the Moon Goddess that's in the past."

I sighed and said,

"Why don't we just share the bed?"

She froze.

"Wait—what? Do you think that's appropriate?"

"Doesn't matter," I replied, taking off my shirt and lying down.

"Why did you take off your shirt?" she asked nervously.

"I normally sleep without clothes," I said calmly. "I only kept my trousers because you're here."

She turned away quickly, her face burning red.

Silence filled the room.

I stared at the ceiling, wondering what I had just gotten myself into.
