Just as the Kyubi was about to coax Naruto with its honeyed whispers, a chakra descended—so vast and alien it made the beast's very soul tremble.
The damp, shadowed mindscape that belonged only to Naruto and the Kyubi was torn open by an outside force. From the rift poured a dazzling flood of gold.
A tall figure stepped out of the light.
Flame-red hair whipped freely in a windless void. Her eyes were cold—regal, looking down on all things. Behind her, dozens of pure golden chains, woven from crushingly dense chakra, drifted like living things and radiated a power that could seal anything.
When the Kyubi's scarlet eyes recognized that face, its mountain-sized body jolted.
Terror branded into it over countless years surged up from the depths of its soul.
"Uzu… Uzumaki… Kushina!"
Its voice shook, cracking with disbelief.
"H-how are you… how are you still alive?! You should be dead!"
It couldn't trust its eyes. This woman had penned it up inside her for over a decade as if it were a pet. With those unyielding chains she'd lashed it until it howled.
How could she be here—inside the new jinchuriki's mind?!
"Mom?"
Outside the bars, Naruto stared at the red-haired woman and gasped.
It was Kushina.
In the real world, she had sensed the violent stir of the Kyubi's chakra inside her son and understood at once. As the fox's former jinchuriki and Naruto's mother, her blood bound her to this sealed space more than anyone. Without hesitation, she projected her peak-sharp will straight in.
Kushina ignored Naruto.
"Filthy fox."
Her voice rolled through the entire space.
"Feeling bold now?"
"Daring to frighten my son?"
She strode toward the titanic iron bars, the golden chains at her back clinking and ringing.
"Looks like I was too gentle treating you like a house pet in my belly back then."
"Today I'll remind you why they called me Konoha's Crimson Pepper."
Before the last word faded, the chains surged.
Shu! Shu! Shu!
They shot through the gaps in the bars like golden serpents, faster than sight, lancing at the Kyubi from every angle.
"Rrraaaagh!"
The fox roared, jaws yawning to form a Bijudama (Tailed Beast Bomb).
Too late.
"Kongo Fusa (Adamantine Sealing Chains)!"
Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!
Dozens of chains coiled ruthlessly around the Kyubi's limbs, neck, body—and all nine massive tails. They cinched tight, biting deep into its chakra-forged flesh.
The Kyubi thrashed, a cataclysm that made the entire space reel.
It did nothing.
These were Kushina's chains at full strength—unbreakable, each link inscribed with fuinjutsu (sealing technique) that targeted tailed beasts. The fox felt its chakra being torn away in torrents, its power bleeding out, its body weakening fast.
"Kushina! You damned woman! Release me!"
Kushina didn't spare it a glance. She stopped before the bars and raised her fist—slender, sheathed to the wrist in condensed gold chakra—and drove it into an iron pillar thicker than her body.
DOOOOM.
The mindscape lurched under the blow.
Iron bars reinforced by the First Hokage's cells and the Six Paths' power dented inward, visibly. Countless golden formulae flared across the metal and then guttered out.
It wasn't just physical dominance.
Her strike hammered the seal's core—pure spiritual suppression.
Trussed like a rice bale, the Kyubi let out a strangled cry and sagged, spirit shaken to its roots.
Off to the side, Naruto stood slack-jawed. Watching his mom dominate a colossal fox, he felt his worldview reboot in real time.
So… Mom was this strong?
Kushina shook out her fist and looked down at the immobilized fox.
"Now, can we talk?"
The Kyubi stared, stunned. She was stronger than ten years ago—absurdly so.
"W-what do you want?"
"Nothing much." Her tone allowed no argument. "Three rules."
"First: my son Naruto is your current jinchuriki—and your only landlord. From now on, behave. You will not taint his emotions with your foul chakra."
"Second: whenever my son needs power, you will provide your chakra unconditionally—docile and pure, under his control. If you slip even a grain of malice in… if you so much as dream of stealing his body…"
She paused.
Behind her, the chains drew tight again.
The Kyubi screamed, the sound raw.
"…I will come in here every day to 'educate' you."
Kushina smiled—a demon's smile.
"Until all nine of your tails are tied into neat little bows."
At "every day," the great fox shivered from snout to tail. It had no doubt this madwoman meant every word.
"Third," she said, face turning serious, "and most important: you will not whisper sweet lies to Naruto ever again. No tempting, no sabotage, no nibbling at the seal."
"Because this seal is now under my personal watch."
"Understood, my only pet—little Kyu?"
Silence.
The massive head bowed—low.
Humiliation and bleak resignation pooled in its chest. There was no choice. Under absolute force and the threat of daily beatings, pride could only bend.
"…Understood."
The answer squeezed out, bitter and unwilling.
"Good."
Kushina nodded. Chains uncoiled and flashed back into the golden fan behind her.
Only then did she turn to her son, whose eyes were still wide and round.
The frost and iron melted from her face, replaced by endless warmth.
She knelt and ruffled his hair. "Naruto, did I scare you?"
"N-no…"
He shook his head, then pointed at the slumped giant fox, whispering, "Mom, that… that's the Kyubi?"
"Mhm." Kushina smiled. "From now on, it's your new roommate. If it acts up, tell Mom, and I'll come fix it."
Her outline began to fade, her will returning to the waking world. Before she vanished, she shot the fox one last, level glare.
The Kyubi flinched.
Kushina's figure dissolved, and the mindscape fell quiet again—leaving only Naruto and a very dejected "big fox" staring at each other.
…
Outside.
Training Ground Seven.
The raging red chakra cloaking Naruto ebbed like a tide. His slit pupils softened back to blue. His eyes opened.
"Naruto!"
Minato and Iruka rushed over, worry written across their faces.
"Are you okay? Any pain?"
Minato checked him in a flutter.
Naruto shook his head. Looking at his anxious dad and teacher—then remembering the queenly mom in that strange space, and the scary-looking but somehow a little pitiful big fox—he broke into a bright grin.
"Dad, Iruka-sensei, I'm fine."
"I think…"
"I just made a new friend."
