Chapter 12 - The Morning of the Night

"Sir, the detective assigned to the case has arrived."

The scene from the previous night is surrounded by police tape and officers, with the locations of the bodies clearly marked. Detective Hollms, of average height with hair just beginning to grey, was greeted with respect by the soldiers as soon as he arrived and was led into the hangar to examine the scene. Upon entering the hangar, he was met by someone of higher rank than the other soldiers.

"You have honored us with your presence, Detective Hollms; everyone knows your reputation, and to be on the same case as you..."

"Stop the flattery. Brief me on everything you know so far."

Disturbed by Hollms's attitude and feeling insulted, the police officer looked at Hollms with an angry expression on his face:

"Of course, sir."

Replied.

"(That stuck-up detective bastard, if I don't put you in your place...) Sir, what we know so far is that this is a ransom case. We haven't received any detailed information yet."

"Well, do we know who made the report or who killed the criminals?"

"Sir, the report was made through a hidden line, and the criminals were already killed when the first team arrived here."

"What about the rescued hostage?"

"He was a young child and was in an unconscious state when he was rescued."

"Is there anything else you know, for instance, a tattoo or a wound on the corpses?"

"The autopsy reports aren't out yet, but if I'm not mistaken, they all had scorpion tattoos on their necks, if any other information is needed—"

"No need, this is sufficient for now; I have to go somewhere else. No one is to touch the crime scene. (We met again, L. Apparently, I am in a case that is once again over my head; I'd better inform him.)"

With anxiety and panic streaming across his face, Hollms practically runs as he exits the crime scene.
