"Ew," Yuyan said, though her tone was more teasing than genuinely disgusted. "I mean, I'm glad you and Papa are happy together, but I don't need to know about the kissing and stuff."
"I completely agree," Shuyin said fervently. "We will never speak of this again."
"What are you talking about?" Chen Xiao asked, clearly confused by the entire exchange.
"Nothing," both Shuyin and Yuyan said simultaneously, then looked at each other and laughed despite the awkwardness of the moment.
"Grown-up things," Yuyan told Chen Xiao with the superior air of an older sibling. "You'll understand when you're older."
Chen Xiao accepted this explanation with the easy trust of a young child and returned his attention to the television, apparently satisfied that if Yuyan wasn't worried, he didn't need to be either.
