No more darkness, no more cold water, no more dangling between life and death, just…life.
It feels good to choose to live.
I feel warmth on my face, and I turn to the side to avoid the bright light with a tired groan, fight against waking up just yet.
Good sleep shouldn't end this quickly.
After spending so long in the dark water floating aimlessly and waiting for the end, sunlight feels almost magical and foreign to me, like something brand new and strange.
My body hurts in ways I can't explain, it feels like dull aches, like it's there but it's not at the same time.
I draw a deep breath in and through my nose and as soon as I smell milk with a hint of jasmine and prominent patchouli, my eyes snap open.
Home.
I'm home.
Next to me, is a baby wrapped in soft white blanket, it's not just any baby…it's my baby, my daughter, and it's as if my heart is starting to expand as I look at her little face.
