Chapter 7 - Calista

With four chances, Jay didn't feel panicked or rushed; instead, he felt relaxed.

Because he knew which egg held the grand prize, Jay first randomly picked a red egg to test his luck.

He opened it and saw the words "Please try again ."

Seeing this, Jay couldn't help but smile wryly. He hadn't expected his luck to be so mediocre.

"What did you get? Show me!" Calista urged.

"Here, see for yourself!" she handed him what she'd won.

"Hahahah...see, I told you..." She laughed happily at Jay's misfortune.

"There are still three more chances," Jay said confidently.

"Okay, let's prove it!" Calista still felt confident despite Jay's misfortune.

This time, Jay chose to take the second prize, $10,000 cash.

The prize was inside a green egg in the third row, in the fifth row.

Taking the egg, Jay opened it and saw that the second prize was clearly written on it.

"Congratulations, you've won second prize!"

"Hahahahaha... see I told you, I must be lucky..." Jay proudly handed Calista the second prize written on it.

"What did you win..." Calista curiously saw Jay's proud face and immediately read what was written on the prize paper.

"Second prize!!!!! Damn... you're so lucky, Jay!!!!" Calista said in disbelief as she saw the prize Jay had won.

"This is just the beginning, wait for the bigger one!!" Jay once again chose a prize, and this time he didn't want to waste time as the noise between the two was starting to attract the attention of some of the customers there.

Jay examined the red egg in the first row, right in the corner. He began to examine it to make sure it was indeed the prize egg he was looking for.

Convinced, Jay picked it up and opened it.

There was a gold-colored piece of paper with the words "First Prize" written in bold.

"Wowwwwwwwwww... I won first prize!!!! Look, Calista... you can't run away this time, hahaha!" Jay laughed happily, expressing his happiness.

Jay was truly delighted to win the first prize, as it provided more motivation than just getting a new phone.

So now, he felt both relieved and happy.

"Here... here... look!!!! Let me see..." after taking the prize paper.

Calista was truly an idiot!! How could Jay be so lucky?

There were hundreds of prize eggs there, and only the boss knew where all the prizes were placed, and even the store employees weren't informed.

Furthermore, dozens of people had already tried, and the luckiest of them only got one package of biscuits.

And now Jay had won two grand prizes at once, it was unbelievable.

"You... ahhh... you're so lucky, Jay!!!" Speechless, Calista could only accept her fate.

"Wait, there's still one more chance," Jay dove in and picked another random prize egg.

And this time, what surprised him even more was that the prize egg contained a new mop.

Seeing this, Jay was dumbfounded, wondering how such a coincidence could happen.

#######

On the way home, because Jay was carrying a lot of stuff, he used his new mop as a carrying stick.

So Jay looked like he was carrying the weight on the front and back of the new mop, making it easier to carry his many purchases.

However, as a bonus, he received strange looks from several peoples.

However, Jay, who had won a new cell phone and $10,000 in cash, plus a new mop, didn't care.

Furthermore, Calista, with an annoyed look, seemed displeased with Jay's victory, as if Jay had halved her salary.

Remembering this, Jay couldn't help but laugh happily.

"Hahahaha... I love annoying women!!! Why does it feel so good hahahah..." Imagined that this Saturday he would be going to the movies with Calista.

Finally, after arriving home, a happy and excited Jay began sorting through his belongings.

Skillfully opening his new phone, Jay saw the shiny and elegant casing. Satisfied with his new phone, Jay then began removing the SIM card and memory card.

After all that, Jay was relieved to see that all the new functions of the phone were working as usual.

Opening some messages on his phone, he found that there were messages from several of his friends.

Although Jay had disappeared from the sight of many of his best friends, he had also made some pretty good friends.

Although most of them were online friends, but Jay felt like he knew them pretty well.

And after a while of getting to know each other, one of his online friends invited him to meet.

She had just moved to Detos and felt she only had a few good friends here, and among those few, Jay was arguably one of the best she knew in Detos, so she started inviting Jay to meet and introduce Detos to her.

"Hey... Jay, I just arrived the day before yesterday, when are we going to meet?" a message appeared on Jay's messaging app.

"Oh, you've arrived in Detos, Ruby. So where do you live?" Jay asked in response.

"I rent an apartment near a lake," Ruby replied.

Hearing this, Jay thought of apartments built near lakes. From memory, there were several, and the closest one to where he lived was less than a kilometer away.

"What's the name of your apartment?" Jay asked again.

"Um, if I'm not mistaken, it's Blue Lake Apartment," Ruby replied.

(Blue Lake Apartments… isn't that the apartment near my house? Is this possible?! Wait, maybe they have the same name!!) Jay had a hunch.

"Give me a more precise address!" Jay replied quickly.

(They were both quite close and had sent each other things on several occasions, so neither of them minded giving each other their home addresses. Furthermore, they had been friends for several years, so neither of them was too worried about their attitudes and personalities.)

Then Ruby replied with a more detailed address.

Afterward, Jay checked the map app on his phone and found that it was indeed the apartment near his space.

"What a coincidence!!! How strange!!" Jay said in disbelief.

"Okay, I know where the apartment is. So when are we going to meet and where?" Jay replied again, having already made up his mind, he replied immediately.

There was a sense of anticipation within Jay, eager to see what Ruby, her online friend and also a fairly well-known writer in their group, would be like.

Although he only knew Ruby was a woman, Jay never knew her age or appearance. Likewise, Ruby only knew Jay was a man. As for what Jay looked like, Ruby also had no idea.

So, it could be said that this was a historic meeting for both of them.

"Tonight at 7 pm for dinner, I'll treat you to a simple restaurant near my apartment. I heard from the residents that it's quite famous for its delicious food and reasonable prices," Ruby replied.

"Okay, deal, see you tonight," Jay replied.

"See you tonight," Ruby replied.
