Blair stared in horrified awe as his teammate underwent a transformation.
Snarling, Nikita bucked forward, his muscles rippling and bulging outward. Hair erupted from his skin, fluffing out and spreading in patches. He grew immensely, shredding away the white undershirt he'd been wearing. Tatters of clothes hung around his body as he lurched over in the dark.
Blair couldn't see his face, but he heard a sickening gurgle and growl. He heard the horrible grinding sound of bone on bone as Nikita's knees bent backwards.
He stood dumbstruck. The thing that emerged from the shadows was no longer a man.
Instead, a wolf stood before him, its fur black as night. Its high, pointed ears swiveled this way and that. Its bright yellow eyes regarded Blair with an inhuman intelligence.
The fact that his roommate had just turned into a wolf was immediately pushed aside by just how afraid Blair was.
