Damien
The moment the jet touched the ground, I didn't even wait for the steps to finish lowering. I grabbed my jacket, rushed down, and pulled out my phone. What or where Vanessa went was no business of mine, I'll take care of her later.
My hands were literally shaking.
I dialed Adrien, my head of security, before I even reached the car waiting for me.
"Which hospital?" I asked.
"St. Alden Memorial," Adrien replied. "She's stable now. The doctors already ran the first tests."
I didn't wait for anything else. I ended the call and slid into the car.
"Drive," I told my driver. "Fast."
He didn't argue.
I couldn't wait any longer and wished there was a way the car could fly just so we could get there faster. I felt so bad, so stupid, so… ungrateful.
Despite all my sins, I had the chance to be with a woman like Serena and yet I still choose to mess up every single time. I looked up at the sky and prayed that nothing would happen to her.
