Lana closed her eyes and brought the energy from the ground, up through her body and engulfed her hand. When she felt it was strong enough, she summoned up a tree that had a pointed end and no branches that came out of her arm through her hand. It flew fast and went through not just the wall she was aiming at but the one on the other side of that room leaving daylight shining through. When she let it go, there was so much force that she fell back into Sil who was pushed back a small bit into Quinn's waiting hand, who was not budged at all.
Lana stood back up, "Thank you, Quinn!"
Owen with a big smile, "so, you just went through glathrium without even using your soul weapon." Lana nodded. "And you are not part of this table, why? Did you know about this, Quinn?"
Quinn looked at Owen, "I heard about it but I respect her wishes."
Lana looked uncomfortable again, "because of Sil. When we were in the vampire world that summer, he said he didn't want me to fight to free Fex because he was afraid I would get hurt. I sat on the roof of Quinn's castle and watched most of the battle and I was terrified. I watched as Quinn ignored the person who was trying to fight him so he could instead attack the person who was hurting Layla.'
"Owen, Quinn almost died that day. All because a person he cared about was in danger and he couldn't focus. That could have been my Sil that day. I refuse to put him in that situation. It was different at school because we were kids. The power level was different. The levels we are fighting now. I can't put him through that. If I joined the battle he'd be worried that I was getting injured and his head would not be in the fight. It's better that he knows I'm tucked safely away on my planet."
Owen nodded in understanding.
Sil piped in, "It's more if the battle is super challenging, as I expect this war to be. As she has already stated, she does some things easily that most of us struggle with, but others are very difficult for her. If she's going to fight, I'd rather be at her side so we can augment each other. Her ability is too hard for me. Quite frankly I love the fact that my wife is so strong. It's one of her many lovable features. But, she is too important to me. She's right. I would respond the same way Quinn did when he saw Layla so her not being in the fight is for the safety of both of us."
Just then, her watch sounded, "Ears, you out there?"
"Eyes, go ahead," Lana responded.
"We have visitors."
"Say again, eyes? Visitors?" Lana replied shocked.
"Affirmative. Are you alone?"
"Nope. Respond in code. How many?" Lana replied.
Her watch lit up 3 2-spike, 2 3-spike. She was careful not to let the others see it but Sil was right there and she was unable to hide it from him. She was momentarily shocked. "Location?"
Without looking up, "Caser, collect the twins."
Coordinates flashed on her watch which meant nothing to Sil. She nodded, no longer alarmed. "Activity? Demeaner?"
[Heading toward the shelter, looking at the ground in a searching pattern. Inhabitants underground.]
She nodded again, more relieved. "How many are out of shelter?"
[24]
"Where are the Bla… Where are the kids?"
[Same training spot.]
"So, they are close by?"
[Yes. Told to hide just before contacting you.]
She stared at her watch, thinking. She could feel the heat of Sil's gaze upon her and refused to look his direction. She looked at Caser who already had the kids on his back and firmly held with his tentacles, awaiting further instructions. She looked behind her at her Fiza and Shalt. "Get to the ship and get ready to take off. Caser go with them."
"Eyes, implement Lockdown Procedures," she said in a firm voice, knowing the trees around her brother would hear the command and take action.
Within moments "Ears, there are beasts taking the kids!"
"Of course they are! You need to pay more attention to my briefings. They are being taken somewhere safe. Keep eyes on target. If you can get visuals, patch them to my ship. I'm leaving now." She ended the call.
Lana turned to Sam. "Look over the directions I have sent to my teams. If they don't work with your plans or if they are not helpful either change them so they can help you and send them back or advise me in another way."
Sam smiled and nodded.
She started walking out of the room when she noticed Sil right behind her. She stopped and looked at him. "Are we going to have another argument?"
Sil responded with, "did we not just discuss why you are sitting out this fight?"
Before she could respond, "Lana, Sil's things are already on your ship. I had that done the minute I saw how much he missed you. Give him a few more hours with you, please. Vorden and Raten will pick him up when they are heading to position," Quinn's voice reached her ears.
"You mean I get to borrow my husband for a little bit longer?" Lana smiled.
Quinn nodded, a smile on his face.
Lana looked around and realized the decision had been made for her not long after she walked into the room. Defeated but happy, she grabbed Sil's hand. He picked her up bridal style and carried her quickly to her ship. He made sure his family was properly strapped in before sitting next to his wife. Shalt piloted the ship as usual and they expeditiously headed to her ship to race home.
Dobin provided live feed. The problem was, if they were looking for what happened to the previous dalki, all that evidence would be washed away by now. There were now different people living it that shelter. If that is discovered, which was likely, the dalki could send a mothership to this planet soon. Lana watched the feed provided by her brother siting on pins and needles.
