The leader, a brown-haired man, forced an awkward smile.
"Ah… Lady Kanessa… fancy seeing you here."
Kanessa's lips curved into a faint, cold smile.
"Fancy indeed. Last I checked, cowards don't return to the battlefield."
The man opened his mouth to protest, but her gaze alone silenced him. The street seemed to chill.
"You left your comrades to die," she said, her voice calm yet sharp. "but i have to thank you,Had you not ran like dogs tucking their tail, the children in that camp would have shared their fate...but it didnt change the fact that you broke the guild rules."
"W-We had no choice!" one of them stammered. "The bandits had mages—"
Kanessa stepped closer. "And you had legs. You used them well… to run."
A flick of her wrist, and the faint hum of mana pulsed through the air.
Their weapons glowed and clattered to the ground — magically sealed.
"Relax," she said, turning her back on them. "I won't kill you. I'm not a bandit. But the guild will decide your punishment."
She walked past them, her boots echoing softly against the cobblestones. The crowd that had gathered parted instantly.
[Adventurer's Guild – Reception Hall]
The guild was busy as ever, the air filled with chatter and clinking armor. When Kanessa entered, she went to the reception holding the adventurers captive even the receptionist straightened immediately.
"Umm..is there a problem" the woman greeted nervously..acknowledging the presence of kanessa.
"I have a report," Kanessa interrupted, her tone even.
She dropped a sealed parchment onto the counter.
The client details of escort mission.
"Five adventurers under the 'Silver Hawk' party—charged with desertion of client during an active guild quest."
The receptionist paled. "Y-Yes, ma'am. I'll have the guild-master review it immediately."
Kanessa turned away, but something on the request board caught her eye —
a quest parchment fluttering slightly in the warm breeze.
It wasn't a combat quest.

Then, a small, knowing smile curved her lips.
"Found you," she murmured, reaching out to pull the parchment from the board.
As she folded the paper and slipped it into her coat, the faint glint of determination flickered in her eyes — the same look she wore before taking lucas and the princess under her wing..
