The three frozen fighters immediately rolled on the ground—it was way too cold.
"Whoa!! They're all frozen!" Usopp and Chopper screamed in shock.
Nami wiped cold sweat from her forehead. "Those three were frozen instantly…"
"Space Field!!"
"Space Swap!!"
In an instant, the ice covering Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji vanished as Sandy swapped the ice blocks away—and at the same time, he pulled Robin out of Aokiji's attack range.
Sandy appeared directly in front of Aokiji and sighed. "Brother Aokiji, isn't this joke a bit over the top?"
Aokiji narrowed his eyes. Sandy's ability was far too exaggerated.
Still, Aokiji spoke calmly. "So it's your turn now? Sandy… do you remember what you told me back then? You said you wouldn't become a pirate. But here you are."
Sandy chuckled. "Then tell me: if I didn't become a pirate, and instead joined the Marines, what would have greeted me? You know the answer, don't you?"
Aokiji fell silent.
Yes. After punching the Celestial Dragons, Sandy's only paths were joining the Revolutionary Army or becoming a pirate.
Seeing him speechless, Sandy continued.
"You Marines seriously amaze me. You wiped out Robin's entire family, and you still expect her to thank you?"
Everyone froze. A faint light—mixed with deep hatred—flashed through Robin's eyes as Nami supported her.
Aokiji shook his head. "You don't know the inside story…"
"Inside story? Have you ever considered that maybe the Celestial Dragons just made up excuses to hide their monstrous crimes and tricked the Marines into doing their dirty work?"
Sandy pulled out his sword, High Wind, and continued, "Brother Aokiji, your justice is admirable—heavy, but admirable.
But are the words of those scumbag Celestial Dragons absolute justice? If so, then this world would never have any light."
Usopp whispered, confused, "What is Sandy even talking about?"
Nami ignored the topic and instead warned, "Sandy, be careful—his Ice-Ice Fruit is—"
Sandy waved her off. "Thanks for the concern. I can still hold—"
Before he could finish, Aokiji unleashed his ultimate move.
"Ice Ball!!"
Shit. Too fast!
Sandy was swallowed by a massive ice sphere on the spot.
Aokiji sighed. "Whether the world has light or not isn't up to a pirate to decide."
The Straw Hat Pirates panicked. That ice wasn't normal cold.
Before they could even ask if he was okay—
Sandy appeared behind Aokiji in a blink and slashed at him.
He deliberately avoided using Armament Haki; otherwise things would escalate too much.
"You bastard! I even called you big brother—are you trying to kill me!?" Sandy yelled.
Before he could land, Aokiji appeared behind his head.
"Ice Age— huh?"
Sandy vanished again, reappearing far away.
Back on the ground, Aokiji scratched his head. "Oh dear… what kind of ability is this? Teleportation?"
Sandy didn't answer. Instead he shouted to the crew, "Stay away! Get out of here!"
"Are you alright?" Luffy asked.
"Don't push yourself!!" Usopp shouted.
Sandy rolled his eyes. "Stop being so dramatic. Move!"
Aokiji suddenly interrupted. "You're facing a Marine Admiral, and you dare get distracted?
Ice Block: Pheasant Beak!!"
Damn it—another big move?!
A massive ice bird shot toward him. If he dodged, the crew behind him would be frozen solid.
"Thunderbird!!"
Sandy shifted into his lightning form, summoning a massive Thunderbird that collided with the ice bird.
His Logia lightning ability was not weak.
Aokiji watched in shock as the lightning swallowed the ice.
Two abilities?
"Oh dear… are you a dual Devil Fruit user?" Aokiji asked.
Sandy smirked. "Guess."
Seeing Aokiji preparing another attack, Sandy quickly held out a hand.
"Brother Aokiji, can we not keep fighting? You have no idea how hard life is for me. You know how much Luffy eats?
That guy devours food like a pig—no, like ten pigs merged together! And we don't rob people like normal pirates. I'm basically broke at sea."
He pointed pathetically at himself.
"If we keep fighting, I'll waste too much stamina and starve to death! You're supposed to be my big bro—are you really trying to kill me? Believe it or not, I'll go complain to Garp!
I'll tell him a Marine Admiral is bullying the grandson of a Navy hero and his playmates. How about that?"
Sandy even threw a proud "ye" pose toward the confused Straw Hat crew.
They all stumbled.
"This damn Sandy!!"
Aokiji's face darkened. He knew it. A leopard never changes its spots. This annoying brat was back to his old self.
"What kind of joke is this? Who's your big brother?!" He lashed out with a furious kick.
Sandy grinned. "Times are different now, you think, Straw—"
Aokiji didn't wait. The moment Sandy blocked with his arm, he was frozen solid.
The Straw Hats' faces tightened.
But Sandy's body was pure lightning. How could mere ice freeze lightning?
Crack—BOOM!
Blue lightning shattered the ice, and Sandy appeared elsewhere.
"Rumble-Rumble Fruit?" Aokiji said, stunned.
Sandy gave him a big thumbs-up. "Bingo."
Aokiji seethed. "Isn't your ability spatial?!"
Sandy spit on his hand, slicked his hair back, and grinned.
"Who says a spatial user can't use lightning? I'm the heavens' favorite child. With someone as amazing as me, you're still surprised?
For a Marine Admiral, you're shockingly ignorant. Pooh—"
Even the Straw Hats wanted to punch him now. This guy was too damn annoying.
Aokiji himself was confused. Where was the polite Sandy who used to call him "Brother Aokiji"?
Who the hell was this troublemaker?
Then he remembered—ah.
It was this annoying kid after all.
But Sandy's earlier words lingered in his mind.
If he were Robin…
If the Celestial Dragons weren't absolute…
What then?
Aokiji stopped thinking and continued the fight.
After exchanging blows for a while, Aokiji finally stopped.
"La la… that's enough for today. Take care of yourself."
He wasn't here to capture them anyway.
He rode away on his bike.
Just as he left the shore, Sandy waved.
"Brother Aokiji! If anyone bullies the Straw Hat Pirates in the future, I'm using your name, okay? Take care—no need to see us off!"
Aokiji immediately fell off his bicycle.
