A year passed. High school entrance exams were approaching. But unfortunately, the cat they had raised together... died.

The cat had developed separation anxiety, which led to health problems. It died while they were at school.
The cat was cute, but Yu Yachen's feelings hadn't changed. It was a fragile, easily stressed creature. It was bound to die without proper care.
She had only allowed it because Ch'en liked it.
Holding the cat's body, Yu Yachen used Killer Queen to turn it to dust. Better than letting it rot.
Ch'en just watched, her eyes overflowing with a sadness she couldn't hold back, like a child whose favorite toy had broken.
And Yu Yachen was like her big sister.
The silent sister was comforting her. After all, the blue-haired girl was trying to get into the Victorian Royal Guard Academy. She couldn't let a cat ruin her future.
But the cat's death set off a chain reaction. Ch'en's luck turned bad. She, who was never sick, caught a high fever before her mock exams and fell behind in her studies.
"You don't have to try so hard. Your family is rich, right? The Royal Guard Academy isn't a place you can get into just with good grades."
Yu Yachen said one day, sitting by her bed.
"Yeah... but I don't want to rely on my background. As if I only got this far because of my uncle."
"Some things are meaningless, Huijie. You need to be more flexible."
"Your youth is precious. Once you graduate, you'll never be this happy again," Yu Yachen said flatly.
"You're half a year younger than me. Why do you always sound like you're lecturing me?" Ch'en giggled.
"Who knows."
Yu Yachen looked away.
Maybe... she was just bored.
To this day, Ch'en still didn't know why Yu Yachen had left.
She only knew that the day before she disappeared, someone had put a dead cockroach in her desk. Because she was so beautiful and so cold, the initial admiration from her classmates had turned to resentment.
And so, she had simply... thrown the desk out the window, asked the teacher for a day off... and Ch'en never saw her again.
When she got home, Yu Yachen's apartment was empty. The next day, several of the 'bad students' from their class also disappeared. She woke up, ate, and went to school as usual, but the seat next to her remained empty.
Ch'en had thought it was no big deal. Yu Yachen was always low-key.
Her world hadn't changed. She had. Yu Yachen had decided that life was becoming boring.
The novelty of Ch'en Huijie had worn off. It was time to find a new "girlfriend."
Before she left, Yu Yachen left Ch'en a letter. After all, Ch'en had once been her "thing." She explained why she left:
"Sorry, Huijie. You might cry, but... I still don't have any feelings for you."
"I was just bored, so I thought I'd try getting close to you. And you were... decent."
"But I'm starting to get bored again."
"I killed those people. No special reason. I just wanted to. You won't find any evidence. I've been thinking... humans really can't stand being alone. That's why I chose you."
"But the fun you provide... has reached its limit."
"Forget me."
After Ch'en finished reading, the paper in her hand exploded, incinerated by the high heat.
The next time they met was five years later, at a high school reunion. Ch'en hadn't thought someone like Yu Yachen would come.
After dinner, she was about to leave when an old classmate from the next room over stopped her.
"Zhang Fangfang was just talking trash about you and Yu Yachen. Calling you both 'bitches' and stuff... I wasn't going to say anything, but she was being so awful..."
"Huijie, you should... wait, where are you going?"
"What did you say?" Ch'en froze. "Was Yu Yachen there?"
"Yeah! And Zhang Fangfang said it right to her face. But Yu Yachen seems... calmer now? She just said Zhang Fangfang was drunk..."
Before she could finish, Ch'en was already running, remembering the words from the note:
"No special reason. I just wanted to kill."
"Hmm, hmm, hmm..."
In a quiet apartment, Yu Yachen hummed a tune as she put a CD into the player.
"...in her pretty cabinet..."
A cheerful piano melody began.
"Do you like Queen?"
"I don't really like music. But... the ritual is important."
"For me, killing is about pleasure and stress relief. That's why I don't use Killer Queen to just erase them. I do it myself, with an axe, one cut at a time. I think... I'm extremely crazy."
Yu Yachen put on a clear plastic raincoat. A shiny fire axe leaned against the wall.
A fat woman was sitting on the sofa, her back to her, holding a bottle of wine.
"Is... is that a raincoat?"
The woman hiccupped, turning to look at the white-haired girl.
"Yes. It is." Yu Yachen smiled.
The loud music almost drowned out their words. "Killer Queen" was reaching its climax.
"This raincoat is really beautiful. And this shiny axe is my favorite..."
Yu Yachen elegantly brushed her hair back. She raised the axe high, aiming for Zhang Fangfang's back.
"Hey, Zhang Fangfang!"
"AHHHHHHH!!!!"
"Thwack!"
She's a Killer Queen...

"Click—"
Yu Yachen opened the door, a smile on her face.
"Long time no see, Officer Ch'en."
"...Long time no see, Little Yu."
I really am... crazy.
Yu Yachen closed her eyes, a helpless smile on her lips.
"What did you say?"
"No, nothing. Please, come in. Remember to change your shoes."
