"Young master, today is your first day at the new school, you wouldn't want to be late for the admission, right?" A man in his forties asked the boy still sleeping.
The boy grunted from his sleep. "Can you let me sleep more, Michael. I never even wanted to go to school."
Michael shook his head and sighed. "This is what your parents wished for before dying. We can not disobey them, and you know it."
The boy did not say anything afterwards but secondd later, he grunted and reluctantly rose from bed.
With sleepy eyes, he mumbled. "I am only doing this because of you and not them."
Michael sighed. "Fine fine, whatever... Just go and get ready for school while I prepare your breakfast."
With that, Michael turned and left the room. Seeing that he had finally gone out, the boy rolled his eyes and laid down back.
'As long as I am concerned, I don't have any parents. Not the ones that abandoned me to suffer in this world alone with a heavy responsibility.'
It took the boy another one hour to get up and drag his feet to the bathroom. After taking his bath, he got dressed, carried his bag, and went downstairs to meet Michael who has been waiting for him.
Seeing him, Michael sighed. "It's good that you finally came down or I'd have come up there and pour some cold water on you."
The boy scoffed, he knew that Michael was only joking — The last time he remembers, Michael is the only and will forever be his only family member. He will never hurt him in any slightest way.
"Come and eat, young master," Michael called out to him.
He nodded and walked over to the dining table. Michael pulled out a seat for him and he sat down and began to eat.
"Michael, your food tastes good as always," he said with a faint smile.
Michael beamed. "Yes, that's because I always wash my hands properly before preparing any meal for the young master."
The boy shook his head at Michael's words and hurried to finish his food. When he was finally done, the left the house.
Outside, a black car was parked in front of the house and the both of them went ahead to board it. Soon, the engine started and Michael drove off.
On the way, the boy had eyes outside the window. He was new to that environment, no friends, no enemies... Nothing at all.
He had come here with Michael after the death of his parents and the reason was that he didn't want to have anything to do with the past. Since his parents decided to die and leave him, he could as well forget them entirely.
Luckily, he had Michael to take care of him.
Soon, the car came to a stop before a tall fence with a large gate in the center.
"Young master, Let's go in," Michael said to the boy and they both came down from the car and headed towards the gate.
When they got there, the gate opened up and they walked in.
The school's environment was oddly quiet, unlike the boy's expectations. Still, he said nothing and followed Michael who was quietly leading him.
After walking for some time, they finally saw the first building. It was medium-sized building.
"This should be the Dean's office," Michael said as he went to to knock on the door.
"Come in!" A voice came from inside.
Michael glanced at the boy, signaling him to go in with him.
Inside the office, an elderly man sat across the room. A table and some chairs were there, also with a shelve filled with books.
"Good morning, sir," Michael greeted the man. "Is this the Dean's office?" He asked.
"You are in the right place," the man replied calmly. "What can I do for you?"
"This is..." He paused as he glanced at the boy.
"Nephew," the boy muttered to him.
"Ah yes. This is my nephew, Jeremy Light and I want him enrolled in your school," Michael said.
The Dean glanced at the boy and turned back to face Michael. "Where are his parents?"
Michael glanced at Jeremy, unsure of what to say.
But that moment, Jeremy stepped forward. His eyes locked on the Dean. "My parents are dead. Is it not enough that my uncle is here?" He said to the man who became instantly surprised.
"My apologies," the surprised man said immediately. "It is very much enough that your uncle is here but it is important for your parents to be here. But since they are...." He paused, staring at Jeremy to see his reaction. Not seeing any signs of sadness, he continued. "But since they are no more, your uncle's presence is enough."
"Good. So let us start," Jeremy said to the Dean.
The man nodded and pulled out a file. "Your name is? He asked him.
"Jeremy Light."
"Age?"
"I'm 16."
"What is your ability?"
"I don't have one."
The Dean stopped writing and looked up. Meeting Jeremy's gaze, he asked. "What did you say?"
"I said I don't have any ability but that doesn't mean I'm useless."
"Hmmm," the Dean sighed and continued writing.
Soon, the whole questioning and answering came to an end.
"That will be all for now," the Dean said, closing the file. "Someone will be here to take you to your class. Your things will be brought to you later in the day."
"Okay," Jeremy replied and left the office with Michael.
That same time, a student walked towards them.
"Hello, my name is Allen. Follow me to your class."
Jeremy turned to Michael who was already feeling sad. "Michael, I'll be going now. Take care of yourself, okay?"
"I should be the one telling you that," Michael replied, trying not to sound sad.
Jeremy laughed faintly. "Whatever... Just make sure you don't die by the time I'm done here."
With that, Jeremy followed the student. As he walked away, he waved his hand without turning to look back.
Michael stood there, watching as Jeremy disappeared from his sight. A deep frown settled on his face — he wasn't ready to part with his young master just yet but he had to do it — it was for the best.
When he came to the Light's family, the boy hadn't been born but his mother was already pregnant with him. Before he was born, his parents mentioned something like bloodline — a gift both blessed and cursed at the same time.
When the time for him to be born, his father took his mother and hid her very well. She only came back after she had finally given birth to him.
The boy grew healthier, stronger, and smarter than any of his peers and people envied him. But recently, he began to show strange sighs....many things were going wrong with him and even though his parents noticed, they said nothing about it.
One day, the parents left and didn't return. Soon, news came that they had died. No one wanted to believe at first but after seeing the dead bodies and confirming that it was them, they had no chouce but to believe.
Jeremy didn't cry nor felt sad about their death. What surprising — he went about his day like any other day.
This surprised Michael because no child would behave that way after losing their parents. Still, he didn't say anything about it and decided to take care of Jeremy.
After his parents' burial, Jeremy told Michael to take him to another place — where he could forget about his past. So this is how they ended up in another city.
